Legendary Person: I brought my skills back to reality!
Chapter 73 Chaos Across the Land (Part 1)
Shi Shaowei gripped the steering wheel tightly, his brow furrowed, his eyes fixed intently on the road ahead. His fingers tapped unconsciously on the steering wheel, betraying his anxiety. The car sped along the highway at an alarming speed, the engine emitting a deep roar.
Xu Hao sat in the back seat, his brow furrowed, pondering everything that had just happened in Qingshan Village. He turned to Su Qing beside him, his voice filled with confusion: "Su Qing, we saw so many zombies in Qingshan Village, and the villagers all saw it! Who can believe the landslide explanation?"
Su Qing took a deep breath and calmly explained, "Xu Hao, you don't understand our work process. The Logistics Department of the Bureau of Mysterious Affairs has a special team composed of members with special abilities. Their abilities can directly affect the memories of ordinary people."
She paused, then continued, "This team is deployed after each strange incident. They contact the witnesses one by one, using their abilities to erase their real memories and implant a plausible explanation we've fabricated. In Qingshan Village, they made the villagers believe that a landslide had occurred, rather than a zombie attack."
Xu Hao's eyes widened in surprise, and he muttered to himself, "Isn't that Will Smith's guy? What's his name again? Black Sunglasses?"
Su Qing nodded slightly and added, "There's nothing we can do! We have to maintain social stability. If the existence of such strange phenomena were made public, society would descend into chaos."
A brief silence fell over the car, then Shi Shaowei's voice came through again. "Perhaps, before long, no matter how many measures are taken, the existence of this strange phenomenon will ultimately be exposed to the public..."
As soon as Shi Shaowei finished speaking, a heavy silence fell over the car. Everyone was lost in their own thoughts, and a sense of oppression filled the air.
Xu Hao coughed softly, breaking the silence. He adjusted his posture, leaning slightly forward, and looked towards the driver's seat.
"Captain Shi," Xu Hao said cautiously, a hint of curiosity in his voice, "was that phone call from Director Zheng?"
Shi Shaowei's gaze remained fixed on the road ahead, but his expression grew even more serious. He nodded slightly, his right hand gripping the steering wheel tighter.
“That’s right, it’s Director Zheng,” Shi Shaowei replied briefly.
Xu Hao noticed the tension in Shi Shaowei's tone and pressed further, "What happened?"
Shi Shaowei took a deep breath, his brows furrowing even more. "Director Zheng didn't reveal any specifics," he said slowly, "He only ordered everyone to return immediately and hold an emergency meeting."
The atmosphere inside the car suddenly became even more tense. Su Qing and Xu Hao exchanged a worried glance.
Shi Shaowei continued, a hint of unease in his voice: "Although Director Zheng didn't say it explicitly, judging from his tone..." He paused, "the situation is probably quite serious. I've never heard him speak in such a serious tone before."
These words made the atmosphere in the car even more tense. Xu Hao leaned back in his seat, gazing thoughtfully at the scenery rushing past the window. Su Qing, on the other hand, gripped the hem of her clothes tightly, a hint of worry flashing in her eyes.
Shi Shaowei stepped on the gas, and the car sped along the highway, as if racing against an unknown crisis. Everyone was lost in their own thoughts, wondering what kind of situation they might be facing.
No one spoke. The car quickly returned to Zhongtian International, and everyone hurried into the conference room. The room was already quite full, presumably with department heads and key personnel. Director Zheng Jinqiang chaired the meeting, his expression serious.
The car sped into the underground parking lot of Zhongtian International Building. Shi Shaowei skillfully parked the car.
"Hurry up, don't waste time," he said briefly, pushing open the car door first.
Xu Hao and Su Qing followed closely behind, and the three of them quickly walked towards the elevator. As soon as the elevator doors opened, they rushed inside. Shi Shaowei pressed the top floor button, and the elevator began to ascend rapidly.
The atmosphere inside the elevator was heavy; no one spoke. Xu Hao noticed that Shi Shaowei's fingers were constantly tapping his thigh, revealing his inner anxiety.
With a ding, the elevator doors opened. The three of them quickly stepped out and hurried towards the conference room. In the corridor, colleagues from other departments also rushed over, their faces filled with doubt and worry.
Shi Shaowei pushed open the conference room door; several people were already seated inside. Xu Hao quickly scanned the room, recognizing them as heads and key personnel from various departments. A tense atmosphere permeated the air, with hushed whispers rising and falling.
Director Zheng Jinqiang sat in the main seat, his expression solemn. He nodded slightly to Shi Shaowei and the others as they entered. Shi Shaowei led Xu Hao and Su Qing to their seats quickly.
As the last few people hurriedly entered the conference room, Zheng Jinqiang stood up. The conference room immediately fell silent, and all eyes were on him.
Zheng Jinqiang looked around, took a deep breath, and said, "Gentlemen, we are facing an unprecedented crisis..."
As soon as Zheng Jinqiang finished speaking, the huge LCD screen behind him suddenly lit up. Everyone's attention was drawn to it, and a shocking scene began to play on the screen.
The scene shifts to the Eiffel Tower in Paris. A massive ancient tree suddenly bursts from the ground, its branches coiling around the tower like tentacles. Tourists scream in terror and scatter in all directions. This thousand-year-old tree spirit shakes its branches, twisting and deforming the top of the tower.
The scene then shifts to Times Square in New York City. Groups of wild boars, capable of walking upright and carrying large clubs, rampage through the streets, their eyes glowing with an eerie red light. People scatter in panic, cars overturned, billboards toppled. These boars seem to possess supernatural strength, easily overturning heavy vehicles. Leading the pack are several white boars, each four or five meters tall.
Next was the Colosseum. A horde of skeletons emerged from the ground, wielding rusty weapons—scythes, axes—their empty eye sockets flickering with eerie blue flames. Tourists screamed and fled, while the skeletons began attacking surrounding buildings and vehicles.
Finally, the scene shifts to Nagatacho, Tokyo. A group of towering monsters suddenly appear, some wielding enormous weapons and attacking everything in their path indiscriminately, others breathing flames that can incinerate everything around them. Police and the military try to stop them, but ordinary weapons are largely ineffective against these bizarre creatures.
Tel Aviv, Johannesburg, Brasilia... and countless other places whose names I can't recall. In short, attacks are occurring all over the world.
The entire conference room fell into a deathly silence, everyone staring in disbelief at the screen.
At this time, the world was in chaos!
