Lin Ya was startled awake by a series of piercing sounds, like sharp fingernails scraping frantically against glass. She slowly opened her eyes, her consciousness gradually returning. Her surroundings instantly alerted her—it was a dilapidated warehouse or abandoned factory, surrounded by rusty machinery and cluttered wooden crates.

In the dim light, Lin Ya found herself lying on the cold cement floor. She tried to sit up, but her whole body ached as if she had just finished a fierce battle. Just then, she noticed that the glass ring on her right ring finger was emitting a soft yellow light. This light, like a thin veil, formed a spherical protective shield around her.

Lin Ya stared in astonishment at the strange sight, then suddenly remembered that it was a gift from Xu Hao. Before she could think further, a chilling sound rang out.

Lin Ya slowly raised her head, her gaze piercing through the yellow light of the protective shield. She gasped, her pupils contracting sharply in fear. Less than a meter outside the shield, a monster beyond description was frantically attacking it.

The monster had a humanoid outline, but its entire body was enveloped in layers of swirling black mist. This mist constantly writhed, sometimes condensing, sometimes dispersing, as if it were alive. As the mist churned, countless feather-like black objects continuously drifted down from it.

The monster's arms were unusually long, with ten terrifying claws extending from their ends. Each claw was twenty centimeters long, gleaming with a metallic sheen, like sharp blades. It constantly scratched at the protective shield with these claws, producing a teeth-grinding, ear-piercing sound. Each attack caused the protective shield to tremble slightly, rippling outwards, but it remained unbroken.

Lin Ya suppressed her fear, her gaze involuntarily drawn to the monster's face. It lacked any human features, only a pitch-black void. In this darkness, two eerie eyes stood out starkly. Those eyes were fixed on Lin Ya, filled with madness and hatred, as if they wanted to devour her alive.

If Xu Hao and Shi Shaowei were present, they would surely recognize the monster in shock. The familiar figure shrouded in black mist, the chilling claws, and the malevolent, glowing eyes were all identical to the bizarre encounter they had experienced in the orphanage.

But why did it suddenly appear? And why did it attack Lin Ya?

The monster's attacks grew increasingly fierce, its claws leaving scratches on the light barrier. Though the scratches quickly disappeared, each attack filled Lin Ya with terror. Suddenly, the monster stopped. A crack appeared in its mouthless face, emitting a sharp, piercing cry: "It's you! It's you!! Where is he?! Where!?"

The voice seemed to resound directly in Lin Ya's mind, causing her to involuntarily cover her ears and tremble all over.

"Xu Hao!! Where are you!! Help me!!"

Xu Hao lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to fall asleep. Moonlight streamed through the thin curtains, casting dappled shadows on the floor. He turned over, his gaze falling on his phone on the bedside table. The game's cooldown was about to end, but he felt no interest whatsoever.

A strange sense of unease lingered in his heart, like an invisible hand gripping it tightly. Xu Hao took a deep breath, trying to calm this unusual feeling. He closed his eyes, but the image of Lin Ya's departing figure involuntarily surfaced in his mind.

Especially the parting remark, "Things haven't been peaceful outside lately," left people feeling uneasy.

"Planting flags randomly never ends well!" Xu Hao muttered to himself, his brows furrowed.

A sharp, intense headache struck, sudden and violent, as if an alarm bell had rung in his brain. He closed his eyes, trying to alleviate the pain, but found his consciousness rapidly fading.

A strange power surged within him, and Xu Hao felt as if his spirit had detached from his body and drifted towards an unknown distance. The darkness before him gradually dissipated, replaced by a series of blurry yet vivid images.

He saw a dilapidated warehouse, filled with rusty machinery and messy wooden crates. In the dim light, a familiar figure lay on the cold ground—it was Lin Ya. She was surrounded by a pale yellow light shield, and outside the shield, an indescribable black monster was frantically attacking it.

Xu Hao could feel Lin Ya's fear, as if it were his own emotion. He saw Lin Ya's trembling lips and heard her faint cries for help. Everything was so clear, as if he were there himself.

Suddenly, the image began to distort, and Xu Hao felt a strong wave of dizziness. He jerked his eyes open, gasping for breath, his back soaked with cold sweat.

He knew this was no ordinary dream or hallucination, but a real vision projected onto him by his mental power. His passive skill, the Mental Power Combat Technique, had reached level three and was finally coming into play, allowing him to foresee the impending crisis.

He grabbed his phone and dialed Lin Ya's number.

Unable to connect.

Xu Hao's heart sank, and his ominous premonition grew stronger.

"Damn it!" Xu Hao cursed and quickly put on his clothes. He called Shi Shaowei as he ran outside.

"Hey, Brother Shi, it's me." Xu Hao's voice was urgent and tense. "I feel like Lin Ya might be in danger. Can you help me locate her phone?"

Shi Shaowei on the other end of the phone was visibly taken aback. "What's going on? How do you know she's in danger?"

"Stop asking so many questions!" Xu Hao practically shouted. "Quickly, locate me!"

Sensing the anxiety in Xu Hao's tone, Shi Shaowei didn't ask any more questions. "Okay, wait a moment. I'm at the station."

Shi Shaowei's fingers flew across the keyboard, the screen flashing with complex data. His brow was furrowed, and fine beads of sweat dotted his forehead. The office was silent except for the hum of the computer fan and his rapid breathing.

"Xu Hao, location confirmed." He quickly picked up his phone. "It's at an abandoned steel plant on the outskirts of the city. The exact coordinates are..."

Before he could finish speaking, the phone went dead. Shi Shaowei froze for a second, then abruptly stood up, his chair sliding backward from the impact.

"Damn it! This kid!" He slammed his fist on the table. "Don't you know how precious you are?"

Shi Shaowei took a deep breath and quickly pressed the intercom button. "Miaomiao! Immediately notify all members of the action team! Drop what you're doing and head to the abandoned factory in the suburbs! I'll send you the location later! At all costs! You must ensure Xu Hao's safety!"

Having said that, Shi Shaowei hurriedly set off. Xu Hao's importance is self-evident; to put it more broadly, the secrets he possesses could even determine the outcome of the entire war against the supernatural. Just as Zheng Jinqiang said, anyone could be sacrificed, but Xu Hao could not!

Xu Hao was currently driving his beat-up motorcycle at an astonishing speed through the night. The cold wind howled past, ruffling his hair, but it couldn't cool the anxiety in his heart.

"Lin Ya, please be alright!" Xu Hao prayed silently in his heart.
