Keyboard Warrior's Otherworldly Adventure
Chapter 44 The Red-Haired Witch
"Another world?" Li Jin repeated Lin Na's words, alarm bells ringing in his mind. The transmigration system bringing him to this world was absurd enough, and now there was this "another world"? It sounded like a clichéd plot from some third-rate online novel. He cursed inwardly, but outwardly remained calm, asking, "What other world? I don't know I have such power?"
Lin Na's gaze, hidden behind her mask, seemed to pierce through Li Jin's disguise. She chuckled softly, a sound that echoed eerily in the hall. "Stop playing dumb, Li Jin. I know everything about your system and your power. You think you can hide it from me?"
Li Jin's heart sank. Just how much did this woman know? He subconsciously touched the system bracelet on his wrist. Lin Na had actually seen through this thing? "System? What system? What are you talking about? I don't understand." Li Jin continued to play dumb, refusing to admit anything.
Lin Na clicked her tongue impatiently, "Looks like you won't shed a tear until you see the coffin." She clapped her hands, and two men in black immediately stepped forward and roughly pushed Li Jin to the ground.
"What are you doing! Let me go!" Li Jin struggled, but to no avail. The two men in black were as strong as iron towers, and Li Jin was no match for them.
Lin Na slowly crouched down, the golden mask looming large before Li Jin, creating a powerful sense of oppression. "I'll ask you one more time, are you willing to cooperate?"
Li Jin gritted his teeth, glaring fiercely at Lin Na, "Dream on! I'd rather die than cooperate with a woman with a heart of stone like you!"
Linna sneered and stood up. "He who won't listen to reason will have to suffer the consequences." She winked at the man in black. "Let him learn his lesson."
What happened next was something Li Jin would never forget. The man in black pulled out a long, thin black syringe from somewhere; the syringe gleamed with an eerie light and was clearly not a good thing. Li Jin struggled desperately, but the man in black still held him firmly in his grasp.
"What is this thing? What do you want to do?!" Li Jin asked in terror.
The man in black didn't answer, but instead grinned sinisterly as he plunged the syringe into Li Jin's arm. A sharp pain instantly shot through his body; Li Jin felt as if countless ants were gnawing at his flesh, and his consciousness began to blur.
Before he completely lost consciousness, he seemed to see Jack's sinister smile again, as well as the huge figure bound by chains, and the man in the white coat... What was going on?
When Li Jin woke up again, he found himself tied to a cold stone bed, surrounded by complete darkness. He tried to struggle, but found that his limbs were firmly bound and he could not move at all.
"Is anyone there?" Li Jin called out tentatively, but only a hollow echo answered him.
Fear began to spread. Li Jin felt as if he were trapped in a coffin, about to be buried alive. He tried hard to recall what had happened before, but found his memory to be a jumbled mess, like shattered glass that he could never piece together.
Just then, a soft voice sounded in his ear, "You're awake?"
Li Jin turned his head sharply, but could see nothing. The voice seemed to be coming from all directions, making it impossible for him to determine the speaker's location.
"Who? Who's speaking?" Li Jin asked nervously.
"Don't be afraid, I'm here to help you." The voice was still gentle, but it carried a hint of something elusive.
"Help me? Who are you? Where are you?" Li Jin pressed.
"I am right inside you." The voice paused, then continued, "I am your other self."
"Another self?" Li Jin was stunned. What did that mean?
"That's right, the other soul within you," the voice explained. "The reason you were transported to this world is because of my existence."
"Who...who exactly are you?" Li Jin felt his mind getting more and more confused.
"I am you, and I am him," the voice said mysteriously. "I am the key that connects the two worlds."
Li Jin wanted to ask more, but suddenly felt a sharp headache, as if someone had planted a bomb in his brain. He groaned in pain, the world before his eyes began to spin, and finally, he was plunged into darkness…
When he awoke again, he found himself in an unfamiliar environment. He was lying on a soft grassy field, with a clear blue sky above him and a dense forest all around him.
"Where am I?" Li Jin muttered to himself. He struggled to sit up, only to find that his body was unusually weak, as if he had just gone through a great battle.
Suddenly, a figure appeared in his line of sight. It was a tall woman wearing a tight black leather outfit, with long, fiery red hair flowing in the wind, and a charming smile on her face.
"You're finally awake." The woman walked up to Li Jin, knelt down, and gently stroked Li Jin's cheek with her slender fingers. "My little darling."
