Li Jin's footing gave way, and his body plummeted downwards. Before he could even utter a cry of alarm, he was replaced by the sound of branches scraping against the ground. He tumbled through the dense foliage like a rag doll, finally crashing heavily to the ground, his vision blurring with stars.

"Li Jin!" Sophie cried out in alarm, slid down the tree on all fours, and stumbled to Li Jin's side. "Are you alright? Are you hurt?"

Li Jin struggled to sit up, spitting out a mouthful of bloody saliva, cursing, "Ouch...it hurts like hell! This damn system, it malfunctioned at the crucial moment! What happened to the promised mastery of basic swordsmanship? I can't even climb a tree properly!"

Sophie breathed a sigh of relief when she saw he could still swear, and scolded him playfully, "What kind of time is this to be saying such things! Quickly check where you're hurt!"

Li Jin waved his hand: "It's nothing, I won't die. It's just that my butt is split in eight, so I guess I'll have to use a funnel to poop from now on."

Sophie was amused by his vulgar words, but then asked worriedly, "Are you really alright? Should I take a look?"

Li Jin glanced at her sideways and said with a wicked smile, "Alright, Your Highness, you can look if you want, but you'll have to take responsibility after you've done so."

Sophie blushed and spat, "What kind of time is this to be joking! Let me see!"

As she spoke, she reached out to unbutton Li Jin's clothes. Li Jin quickly grabbed her hand and teased, "Hey, hey, hey, in broad daylight, a man and a woman alone together, isn't this inappropriate? If someone sees us, they might think I'm up to no good."

Sophie felt a little uncomfortable under his teasing gaze, but she still insisted, "Stop fooling around! Let me see your wound!"

Seeing that she was serious, Li Jin stopped teasing her and let go of her hand. Sophie carefully lifted his clothes and saw that the wound on his back was still bleeding, and the surrounding skin was red and swollen.

"Such a serious injury!" Sophie exclaimed, quickly taking a medicine bottle from her waist. "Quick, apply this ointment!"

Li Jin took the medicine bottle, but instead of applying it immediately, he stared at Su Fei's delicate face and said meaningfully, "Your Highness, this ointment is a royal secret recipe. Aren't you afraid I'll leak it if you just use it on me like this?"

Sophie felt a little uncomfortable under his gaze and turned her head away: "Saving lives is the priority, who cares about anything else!"

Li Jin smiled and applied the ointment to the wound. The cooling effect made him groan comfortably.

"How are you? Are you feeling better?" Sophie asked with concern.

"I feel much better, thank you, Your Highness," Li Jin said sincerely.

"You're welcome," Sophie said softly. "If you hadn't saved me, I'm afraid I would be..."

She didn't continue, but Li Jin understood her meaning. He smiled and said, "It was nothing. But, Your Highness, why are you being chased?"

Sophie sighed and said, "It's a long story. In short, my situation is very dangerous, and I could be in danger at any moment..."

Before she could finish speaking, the sound of horses' hooves came again from afar. The two women's expressions changed; they exchanged a glance, both seeing terror in each other's eyes.

"They're coming after us again!" Sophie exclaimed.

Li Jin gritted his teeth and said, "Looks like we need to find a place to hide!"

"But..." Sophie looked around, but there was only dense forest, and there was nowhere to hide.

Li Jin's eyes darted around, and he pointed to a cave not far away, saying, "Let's go there!"

The two dared not delay and hurriedly ran towards the cave. Just as they reached the cave entrance, the sound of horses' hooves was right next to them.

"Hurry up and go in!" Li Jin pushed Sophie into the cave and followed her in.

The cave was pitch black, so dark you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. Li Jin fumbled for a tinderbox and lit it, the faint light illuminating part of the cave.

It was a small cave, damp and cold inside, with a musty smell permeating the air. Li Jin looked around and found that apart from a few rocks and some withered branches and leaves, there was nothing else in the cave.

"It seems we have no choice but to hide here for the time being," Li Jin sighed and said.

Sophie nodded, her face pale, clearly still reeling from the shock. She hugged her arms tightly, trembling.

Seeing this, Li Jin took off his coat and draped it over her shoulders, saying, "Don't be afraid, I'm here."

Sophie glanced at him gratefully, a strange light flashing in her eyes.

Suddenly, Li Jin felt a chilling aura coming from behind him...
