"Damn it, system, you've let me down at this crucial moment!" Li Jin was startled by the system's sudden notification and almost lost his mind. The huge shockwave from the explosion knocked him to the ground, his ears were ringing, stars were flashing before his eyes, and a bloody taste filled his mouth.

"Li Jin!" Sophie and Xiao Mei rushed to his side anxiously, their faces filled with worry. Xiao Mei was especially heartbroken, tears streaming down her face. "Li Jin, are you alright? It's all my fault, I had to come to that Fountain of Life..."

Li Jin waved his hand, indicating he was alright, but inwardly he was furious: "I almost got killed by the dragon's breath, what good is your apology?!" He struggled to his feet, wiped the blood from his mouth, and glared fiercely at the Black Abyss Dragon: "You damn lizard, you just wait!"

The system's cold, electronic voice sounded again: "3...2...1...Emergency escape procedure activated!"

A blinding white light instantly enveloped Li Jin and his companions, and before they could react, it vanished into the cave. The Black Abyss Dragon missed its target, roaring angrily as its massive claws shattered the ground.

When Li Jin opened his eyes again, he found himself back in his familiar rented room. He lay on the bed, his whole body aching, as if he had been run over by a truck. Sophie and Xiao Mei lay disheveled beside him, their clothes in disarray and their hair messy.

"We...we're back?" Xiaomei rubbed her head, looking completely bewildered.

"It seems so." Sophie checked her equipment. "The Fountain of Life is still there. We succeeded!"

Li Jin breathed a sigh of relief, thankful that he had escaped with his life. He quickly opened the system panel to check his status.

"Health points: 9%, thank goodness, I almost died." Li Jin patted his chest with lingering fear.

"Warning! The host's health is too low. The system will be forced into hibernation and will restart in 24 hours."

"What?! Hibernation? I'm in a dangerous situation right now, and you're telling me to hibernate?!" Li Jin almost vomited blood. This damn system always fails at crucial moments.

Seeing Li Jin's exasperated expression, Sophie couldn't help but cover her mouth and chuckle: "Looks like your system isn't so reliable after all."

"You bet!" Li Jin rolled his eyes in annoyance. "I should have brought a power bank."

Xiao Mei stopped crying and started laughing, her fear completely gone.

Sophie took out a crystal bottle from her backpack, which contained a liquid that emitted a faint glow—the Fountain of Life.

“That’s right.” Sophie nodded. “Legend has it that drinking a drop of the Fountain of Life can prolong life and even bring the dead back to life.”

"So amazing?" Li Jin's eyes widened. "Then does that mean I'll live forever?" He snatched the crystal bottle and made as if to drink it down.

"Wait!" Sophie quickly stopped him. "The Fountain of Life is miraculous, but it also contains powerful energy. Ordinary people might not be able to withstand it if they drink it directly, and could even explode and die."

"Huh? That's dangerous?" Li Jin was startled and quickly put down the crystal bottle. "How do we use it?"

"It needs to be specially processed and diluted before it can be taken," Sophie explained. "Moreover, the energy of the Fountain of Life is too powerful. Even after dilution, it needs to be taken in small amounts multiple times, otherwise it will put a burden on the body."

"I see." Li Jin nodded, secretly glad that he hadn't acted rashly.

Just then, there was a knock on the door.

"It's me, Zhang Hao." A familiar voice came from outside the door.

"Something's happened! Jack somehow found out about your time travel and is heading here with his men!"
