Chapter 11 Childhood Sweethearts

"Wu Haofeng is your subordinate, isn't he?"

The mother put a slice of beef on Wanli Fuguang's plate and discovered that the child was willing to eat beef.

After Wanli Fuguang finished eating the beef, seeing Huang Qiaqia still hesitating on the stage, he spoke frankly and without reservation.

"Wu Haofeng is my cousin's subordinate, the boy who was supposed to go on a blind date with Huang Qiaqia."

“We’ve spoiled Huang Qiaqia; she’s become a bit immature, you…”

As her mother watched Huang Qiaqia's retreating figure, a hint of worry appeared in her eyes.

Wanli Fuguang ate the Wagyu beef his father fed him and said solemnly.

"Huang Qiaqia is very good, I like her very much."

Mom picked up a large slice of beef for Wanli Fuguang.

"What a coincidence that you all came here to eat today."

“When Huang Qiaqia and I were chatting, he mentioned that your family of three all likes to eat at this restaurant. Today is Valentine’s Day, and I also wanted to try the flavors that your family of three likes, so I dragged Huang Qiaqia here to eat.”

Wanli Fuguang didn't have anyone investigate; he just thought it would be best if they ran into each other, but if they didn't, so be it.

"That's such a coincidence."

The father looked at the handsome young man with a smile, his heart filled with joy.

He never expected that Huang Qiaqia could find such a steady and reserved young man.

The more Dad looked at Wanli Fuguang, who had an extraordinary way of speaking, the more he liked him.

"Auntie, Uncle, I wonder when you'd have time to visit. I was in such a rush today that I didn't even prepare a gift, which is a bit impolite."

"Forget about manners. After dinner, let's go home, sit down, play some Go, and have some tea."

In Wu Haofeng's company laboratory, Huang Qiaqia's test results were not as good as the school's expectations. Wu Haofeng looked at Huang Qiaqia's dejected appearance and comforted her.

"How about we do it tomorrow?"

Upon hearing Wu Haofeng's reminder, Huang Qiaqia glanced at the time and suddenly realized it was already 9:30. A thought flashed through his mind, and he asked Wu Haofeng.

"Where's Wanli Fuguang? It's so late, and he's still playing chess with my dad at my house?"

"Your father has no classes tomorrow and the day after, and Wanli Fuguang is also planning to stay at your house for a couple of days?"

Huang Qiaqia stared wide-eyed, her mouth agape in disbelief.

"Stay...stay at my house?"

"Yes, at nine o'clock, I called, and Wanli Fuguang and your parents were already getting ready for bed."

Huang Qiaqia was momentarily stunned.

"Then... I..."

Are you going back to your dorm or home?

"Let's go back to the dorm! My classmates and I are going to have a discussion tomorrow. Wu Haofeng, I want to do another experiment. You can come over anytime next time, right?"

"Of course. I'll take you back to your dorm."

"No need, it's too much trouble for you."

Just as Huang Qiaqia was about to grab her schoolbag, her phone rang. Seeing this, Wu Haofeng took the schoolbag and started walking ahead.

Upon seeing the contents of her phone, Huang Qiaqia's lips drooped silently, her eyes gradually dimmed, and a dark color settled on her rosy face as she murmured softly.

"Professor, is kindness wrong?"

Wu Haofeng glanced back at Huang Qiaqia's phone and saw the lawyer's letter that had been sent to him. He emphasized his words and spoke with a serious and affirmative tone.

Kindness is never wrong. But if kindness is met with malice, that bitter outcome is the greatest insult to kindness.

If, because of this insult, you are too cowardly to lend a helping hand to those in need, that is the greatest weakness in the face of malice.

Huang Qiaqia slowly raised her head to look at Wu Haofeng, and a strange sense of strength welled up inside her.

Wu Haofeng's eyes are kind and approachable, making him someone anyone can trust.

Is there anything I can help you with?

Huang Qiaqia forced a smile onto her somber face.

"No, thank you, Professor."

Inside the noodle shop, Sheng Shanxing pushed the document to Huang Qiaqia's side, pointing to the lower right corner.

"Sign and put your fingerprints on these documents."

Huang Qiaqia held up his pen, staring at the test data on the tablet, deep in thought.

Sheng Shanxing pushed Huang Qiaqia's tablet aside and pointed forcefully to the bottom right corner of the document.

"hurry up."

Huang Qiaqia wrote his name on it and then dragged over the tablet.

Sheng Shanxing reminded Huang Qiaqia again.

"Press the thumbprint."

Huang Qiaqia stared at the tablet, slowly put down the pen, and held up his finger.

Sheng Shanxing frowned slightly, took Huang Qiaqia's finger, dipped it in ink, and pressed it onto several documents.

"Although you helped the pregnant woman into the ambulance along with everyone else, it was the pregnant woman who first grabbed you. The child's father is making a fuss about this, and is being somewhat unreasonable. As for his demand for your down jacket and scarf..."

"Brother Sheng Shanxing, why do you think this is? When I went to Wu Haofeng's company to do experiments, the data was even worse. Is it because we're going in the wrong direction?"

Huang Qiaqia had no interest in listening to Sheng Shanxing's rambling; she knew that Sheng Shanxing would do everything in his power to protect her.

Did you ask the professors at the school?

Sheng Shanxing checked each document one by one and organized the files on the table.

"Our professor told me to find the reason myself, but neither my classmates nor I can find a clear reason."

Huang Qiaqia sighed deeply, frowning.

"Doesn't Wu Haofeng's company have professors who frequently visit? Why don't you ask the professors at their company?"

"Am I always bothering people?"

"Didn't I tell you to go to Wanli Fuguang often? It's alright, go ahead."

"Ok."

Huang Qiaqia looked up and saw Wu Haofeng walking towards them, smiling and waving at him.

Wu Haofeng saw the man opposite Huang Qiaqia; he had thick eyebrows, a high forehead, and deep-set eyes that conveyed determination and confidence.

“Brother Sheng Shanxing, this is Wanli Fuguang’s good friend, Wu Haofeng.”

Sheng Shanxing slowly rose to his feet, his imposing figure tall and upright, his resolute face like an ancient mountain peak, and he unhurriedly extended his broad palm.

"Sheng Shanxing, Doctor."

Wu Haofeng paused slightly upon hearing Sheng Shanxing's name, but then his gaze softened again, and he curved his lips into a smile as he politely extended his hand.

In front of the burly Sheng Shanxing, the refined Wu Haofeng spoke in a slightly lower voice.

"Wu Haofeng, new technology."

Sheng Shanxing nodded politely in return and picked up Huang Qiaqia's schoolbag.

"Could you please take Huang Qiaqia to school?"

Just as Huang Qiaqia was about to take the schoolbag, Sheng Shanxing handed it directly to Wu Haofeng.

Wu Haofeng took the schoolbag and gave Sheng Shanxing a gentle smile again.

Sitting in Oldsmobile, Wu Haofeng asked Huang Qiaqia.

Are you feeling unwell? Should we see a doctor?

"No, I ran into some trouble, and Brother Sheng Shanxing helped me solve it. He's a very reliable person."

Wu Haofeng smiled slightly and glanced at Huang Qiaqia, who looked relaxed. He guessed that she had entrusted the lawsuit to Sheng Shanxing.

"Is he your classmate or a relative?"

"No, I've known him since I was little?"

"Childhood sweetheart?"

“My brother Sheng Shanxing and I are not. I remember when I was in elementary school, my father brought the two brothers home one day and told me that they would be staying with us for a while. They ended up staying for many years.”

Don't they have parents?
