The Walking Dead: I Sell Arms as a Sixth-Rate Seller in the Apocalypse
Chapter 82 Kochetta's Peril, Diane and Kochetta's Experiences in Evan City
12:30 pm
Underground Research Institute Area A
After a few minutes of waiting, a Beowulf assault rifle that had been successfully upgraded 10 times lay quietly in the upgrade box.
Rick checked the attributes as he ran, pulling Mieko along with him.
When Rick saw that after 10 boosts to recoil, the recoil of the Beowulf assault rifle was reduced by 50%, an idea came to him.
After considering the feasibility, he decided to give up for the time being, as Rick's current points were not enough for him to spend tens of thousands of points for a weapon.
Rick thought of special enhancements, and without hesitation, he immediately spent 150 points to begin the special enhancement process.
A flash of white light appeared, and a notification popped up indicating that the weapon upgrade had been successful.
Rick discovers a new prefix added to the name of the Beowulf assault rifle: "Valkyrie's Wrath."
Valkyrie's Wrath: Weapon recoil reduced by 25%, weapon power increased by 50%, weapon weight reduced by 30%, weapon durability reduced by 20%, and there is a chance to trigger the special skill "Valkyrie's Plunder" when killing zombies.
Valkyrie's Plunder: When the skill is triggered, each kill grants an additional 10 points.
When Rick saw this special attribute, he decisively chose to use the item duplication card to duplicate an identical Beowulf assault rifle. As for his own unenhanced rifle, Rick decided to save it for later when he had more points to enhance.
Rick, having regained his senses, saw that he had unknowingly followed Kocheta to the door of an elevator.
But he and Mieko were a step too late; the elevator doors in Kocheta closed before Rick arrived.
Rick looked at the stairs next to him, took a deep breath, and then pulled the already exhausted Mieko down the stairs.
Mieko complained as she ran.
"Slow down, I'm exhausted."
Rick himself was also feeling tired, and only then did he realize that the blue coffee candy had already melted in his mouth.
Thinking of this, Rick was about to show off a blue coffee candy to Mihoko when he suddenly remembered the high-tech recycling machine. A small portion of the zombie corpses had been recycled into stamina and agility potions.
Basic Stamina Potion (Red): The user's stamina will be slightly increased within 30 minutes.
Basic Agility Potion (Blue): The user's movement speed and agility will be slightly increased for 30 minutes.
With a thought, Rick conjured two blue agility potions and two red stamina potions in his hand.
He took off his helmet and handed Mieko two kinds of medicine. Then he opened the stoppers of the other two bottles of medicine and drank the blue and red liquid inside in one gulp.
In an instant, a surge of heat spread from my stomach to my limbs.
Rick could clearly feel that his legs were stronger and more powerful, and that his stamina was more capable of handling the current running intensity.
Seeing this, Rick showed off another blue coffee candy. As the effects of the coffee candy spread through his mouth, Rick had never felt so comfortable. His movement speed became more agile, and his strength and endurance were comprehensively enhanced.
Without a doubt, Rick was the fastest man in the world at that moment, and his speed was unmatched for 30 minutes.
After seeing the changes in her husband after drinking the potion, Mihoko took off her helmet and immediately drank two bottles of the potion herself.
The couple descended the stairs as swiftly as two agile cheetahs. Rick knew they had arrived at their destination, Kochetta, after seeing his score steadily increase by 1 and 2. They then engaged in a battle with the horde of zombies surrounding the biological laboratory.
However, what Kocheta didn't know was that the drum magazine of the Sega 12 combat shotgun in his hand was filled with slugs.
He began unleashing a hail of bullets at the frenzied horde of corpses.
A few seconds later, Kocheta had fired 20 rounds of slugs. As he reached behind him to change the drum magazine, he suddenly remembered that the combat shotgun in his hand belonged to the girl in the white JK uniform, and he hadn't gotten a spare drum magazine from her. But the situation didn't allow him to think about it. Just as he slung the gun behind his back and took out his AR15 assault rifle, an accident happened.
A zombie with only bones on its head and dark red muscles on its body rushed towards Kocheta.
Kocheta shouted when he saw the monster's appearance.
"Hurry, shit! It's a Berserker!"
In an instant, Kochetta, who hadn't even had time to aim, was pounced on by the bizarrely shaped zombie. This zombie, codenamed "Berserker," was clearly much smarter than the ordinary zombies. It raised its sharp claws and began to attack the man beneath it.
"Get off me, you ugly monster."
Kochetta struggled wildly as the berserker on his back scratched him with claws, while the zombie army not far away was attracted by the scene and moved towards Kochetta with their arms raised.
However, Diane, who was hiding in the sterilization room, heard the commotion outside and spoke to Liz, who was trying to comfort her.
"Dr. Liz, I'm so sorry I couldn't protect you from the crisis, and now I've even dragged the people who came to save you into this mess."
After Diane finished speaking, she touched her bulging belly and muttered to herself.
“My unborn child, I am a useless mother. Your father fought against that ravager to cover my retreat. He may be dead now. Soon, I will go to find him.”
After Diane finished speaking, she took out the M9 pistol she was wearing at her waist. When she saw the last bullet in the gun, she had suicidal thoughts.
This scene was naturally seen by Liz, who was comforting Diane behind the screen, and she anxiously said to Diane.
“Diane! Don’t lose hope. Your husband, Kocheta, is on his way here. He’s not only alive, but he’s also coming with the people who came to rescue me to save you.”
"What?! Coacheta isn't dead?! Waaaaah!"
Upon hearing this, Diane burst into tears of joy, releasing her long-suppressed emotions.
She began to reminisce about her past with Coacheta in Ivan.
She recalled the two of them driving a modified Hummer on a frantic escape through Evan City. Along the way, Coacheta was rather obsessive, but fortunately, he stepped up to help her when they encountered danger several times. This caused Diane's feelings for Coacheta to shift from a superior-subordinate relationship to a romantic one.
Even though Coacheta and Diane eventually reached the North District and met up with General Sherman, and then boarded a Black Hawk helicopter before the nuclear explosion and flew towards a military town north of Evan City, the two of them stayed in that town with General Sherman and continued to be partners.
The two patrolled and ate together, discussing their preferences. Thinking about how Coacheta had helped strangers and saved her many times in Evan City, Diane's feelings for Coacheta gradually turned into love. In the end, Diane successfully expressed her feelings to Coacheta, and Coacheta gladly accepted the love expressed by his female partner. With the blessings of General Sherman and other soldiers, the two became a couple in the post-apocalyptic world.
Not long after, Diane became pregnant, bringing hope to the already bleak and hopeless post-apocalyptic town. To celebrate this moment of new life and hope, General Sherman threw a party for the two of them at the command post.
However, just as everyone was enjoying the party, this couple, whose lives had already been filled with hardship, faced a new challenge.
The mutants who survived the nuclear explosion in Evan City launched an attack on the military town. Many soldiers who did not have time to pick up their weapons were torn to pieces by these ferocious mutant monsters, and the entire military town was turned into hell in an instant.
The mutants carry deadly nuclear radiation; anyone who comes into contact with them, even if not killed instantly, will die from a fatal radiation sickness over time.
Although the battle, supported by General Sherman and Hellfire 26, successfully eliminated the group of nuclear-radiation mutants, the friendly forces suffered heavy casualties, with 90% of them dying in the disaster.
Seeing the devastated town before them, the scene of Evan City, which resembled a living hell, replayed in their minds once again.
General Sherman felt much the same way as the two men. He couldn't believe that the young men who had been drinking and talking about women with him just yesterday were now either cold corpses or bloodthirsty monsters.
This caused even the heart of an elite veteran who had long commanded soldiers on the front lines to tremble uncontrollably. His expression was filled with sorrow, and tears welled up in his eyes. He could not change anything before him, and he could not give a proper account to the young men who had volunteered to fly over from other places to help him defend the town.
However, at this moment, an organization calling itself the Dawn of Light appeared here, arriving in the town in as many as ten Black Hawk helicopters and two Chinook transport planes.
Wearing biohazard suits, they efficiently recovered the mutated individuals who had been killed and were carrying radiation. After speaking with General Sherman, who eventually agreed to their terms, Diane and Coacheta, the military couple, along with the remaining 10% of the surviving soldiers, boarded a Dawn of Light helicopter and flew to a small island.
There, they encountered an instructor named Hank, who ruthlessly trained Coacheta and Diane, among others. After a month of hellish training, General Sherman dispatched Coacheta and Diane to lead a newly formed biohazard emergency response team to an underground research facility beneath the Atlanta Police Department to protect a leading biological researcher within the organization. The couple temporarily settled there, and as her belly grew larger each day, Dr. Liz, in order to care for Coacheta's pregnant wife, left Diane as her bodyguard. Fortunately, Diane's job as Liz's bodyguard was quite relaxed; she hardly had to endure any hardship, and her food and supplies were second only to Liz's in this underground research facility.
Thinking of this, she touched her stomach and muttered to herself.
"Since your father is on his way here, we can't just sit idly by. I'm sure we'll see him again."
Dai Nan roused herself, touched her bulging pregnant belly, then took out two hand grenades from her person and opened the isolation door outside the disinfection room.
