The Walking Dead: I Sell Arms as a Sixth-Rate Seller in the Apocalypse
Chapter 7 The man on horseback has arrived!
Bookstore 2nd floor
Rick stood there covered in blood, his eyes vacant, looking just like a new recruit going into battle for the first time. However, Rick's physical abilities far surpassed those of ordinary people, and with the help of his skills, he did not vomit uncontrollably like a new recruit going into battle for the first time.
After composing himself, Rick entered the manager's office. The office was a mess; a corpse, devoured by a zombie, lay beside the desk. Upon closer inspection, Rick realized the corpse belonged to the bookstore manager.
The store manager lay on the ground, a bullet piercing his temple. Rick concluded that the manager had committed suicide. The store manager's right hand, which was badly mangled, was still clutching a gray-black revolver. Rick immediately recognized it as a Colt Python .357 revolver.
Rick took the revolver directly from the shopkeeper, and then the system voice sounded.
[Ding! Detected that the host has acquired the item "Colt Python .357 Revolver". Would you like to add it to the inventory?]
"Wait a minute, system, I have a question."
[Ding! A question has been detected from the host. This system will immediately enter the Q&A mode.]
"It can't be that serious, I was just asking a small question."
[Ding! Host, don't worry about it, this system is happy to help (with a smug look)]
"Fine, fine, you're the system, I'm nobody, I'll just fuck you."
[Although something feels off, just so you know, host~ Hmph ╭(╯^╰)╮]
"I just want to ask, if these weapons that are recorded for recycling contain ammunition, will that ammunition become a new commodity that can be purchased after they are recorded?"
[Ding! The items included with the items you've registered will be registered together, essentially registering two items. For example, if you've registered a weapon that contains ammunition, but you haven't registered the specific caliber of ammunition yet, this registration will add the weapon and the ammunition it contains to your inventory!]
"One last question: if I import a weapon that's fully equipped with attachments, will it appear in the store looking like it has no attachments, or will it look exactly the same as the one imported?"
[Ding! If the weapon accessory is available in the store, it will be added to the weapon when you redeem it. If the accessory is not available in the store, it will be automatically removed from the list of accessories after the weapon is entered. If you want to customize the weapon yourself, simply enter all the accessories and the weapon into the store, redeem the weapon and accessories with points, assemble them, and then enter them again. The next time you redeem this weapon, it will appear according to your entered specifications.]
[Ding! A reminder to the host: the accessories that come with a weapon will increase the points required to exchange for that weapon. Please take note.]
Rick wasn't surprised after hearing the system's explanation. After all, this kind of operation could exploit bugs to farm points. If the system didn't even know this, then he could live a life of idleness by doing this.
Having finished speaking
While there was still time, Rick went to the first floor of the bookstore and entered all the books into his database. Although Rick wouldn't need these books for the time being, he could sell them to survivors with children when he did business in other survivor camps in the future.
It took Rick an hour to enter every book in the bookstore into the system's online store. The constant beeping from the system annoyed Rick so much that he cursed. This entry method was inhumane; it could only be entered one book at a time, not in batches, which drove Rick crazy.
Thankfully, after an hour of work, Rick finally finished. Exhausted, he returned to the second floor of the bookstore. He opened the door to the lounge, where two single beds were set up. Rick went to one of the beds, lay down, and then took out the walkie-talkie, saying, "Rick calling Marvin, please respond, over."
“This is Marvin, Rick, please speak, over,” Marvin replied.
"Marvin, I've cleared out this bookstore near the intersection. I've set up a sniping spot for you on the second floor. I'm coming to pick you up now. Over."
"Okay, Rick, I'm still in the car. Be careful on your way. Over."
Upon hearing this, Rick slung his crossbow over his shoulder, grabbed his tactical machete, and went downstairs. The street was still quiet. Rick jogged back to his car, started the engine, and drove into the alley behind the bookstore.
After Rick parked the car, he and Marvin went to the second floor of the bookstore. Marvin was shocked when he saw the five corpses on the ground. As a police officer, he had encountered such situations many times during his investigations, but this was the first time he had ever encountered anything like this. He then asked Rick, "Did you kill all these zombies?"
Rick glanced at the body on the ground, shrugged, and replied to Marvin, "What? Doesn't look like I killed him?"
"Uh...no, Rick, don't misunderstand. I'm not doubting you, it's just that seeing the horrific wounds on these corpses, it's hard to imagine that you did it."
Marvin's expression was like a bean sweating profusely. He simply couldn't believe how this seemingly frail Chinese man could take on five zombies by himself. Even if it were him, without ranged weapons, he would have chosen to give way. But this Chinese man named Rick had done something that he couldn't.
"Mr. Rick, I'm getting more and more interested in your identity," Marvin thought to himself, without showing it on his face.
Rick ignored Marvin's words and led him to the manager's office. The office was much cleaner than it had been after the battle. Before leaving, Rick tidied up for Marvin and even moved a bed from the lounge to the window facing the intersection to make Marvin more comfortable.
Marvin looked at Rick's arrangement, then pointed to the bed next to the window and asked with a puzzled look, "Was this prepared for me?"
Rick replied, "Yes, considering you're not feeling well right now and it's not suitable for you to sit in a chair for a long time, that's why I brought the bed over. It's a soft bed, you'll be more comfortable on it."
Marvin was deeply moved by Rick's words and secretly vowed to protect Rick.
The two rested there for two hours, after which Rick left the bookstore and walked to the tank.
Rick climbed onto the tank. There weren't many zombies around, but a few still spotted Rick and walked toward the tank with their arms outstretched.
Rick ignored the zombies outside, opened the tank hatch, and crawled inside. Once inside, he found the zombie that the tank crewman had transformed into. Hearing the noise from inside, the zombie slowly opened its pale, zombie-like eyes. Just as the zombie saw Rick, Rick pulled out a military dagger and stabbed it directly into the zombie's chin. With a soft thud, the zombie's head was pierced by the sharp dagger.
Rick didn't draw his military knife. Instead, he quickly took off the tank crew combat uniform that the zombie was wearing. At this time, the system store did not sell US Army tank crew combat uniforms. In addition, this tank crew combat uniform could be worn by his men who drive tanks in the future. As the saying goes, "You have to be good at what you're doing. If you're a tank driver and you're not wearing the clothes that a tank driver should wear, what kind of tank are you driving!"
Rick stripped off everything except the bitter tea seed, and then summoned the system to record the information.
After doing all this, Rick looked through the tank's observation port and saw that more and more zombies were approaching. Just then, Marvin's voice came through the walkie-talkie.
"Damn it, Marvin calling Rick, Marvin calling Rick, there's a horde of zombies heading towards the tank, I estimate there are about a hundred of them, they're only ten meters away from the tank, over."
Rick calmly picked up the walkie-talkie and replied, "No problem, I'll handle it. Marvin, you don't need to worry about my safety right now. Just keep an eye out for anyone riding a horse this way from the south. Over."
Upon hearing Rick's words, Marvin replied without hesitation, "Okay, Rick. I'll let you know immediately if I find anything. Over."
Marvin then raised his shotgun in the direction Rick indicated, looked south through the scope, and indeed saw a man on horseback walking towards them.
Because of the distance, Marvin couldn't make out the man's face through the scope. He put down his shotgun, picked up the walkie-talkie, and said to Rick, "Marvin calling Rick, Marvin calling Rick, target spotted, the man on horseback is here, over."
