Eight in the morning

Abandoned quarry camp

Inside Rick's tent

After finishing breakfast, Rick stepped out of the tent and saw the busy crowd. Rick took a deep breath, patted his face, and began planning his day.

Rick arrived at the tactical MTVR and saw everyone gathered there early on.

Looking at the crowd below, Rick cleared his throat and said, "Is everyone here? Is there any other reason why someone isn't here?"

Seeing the crowd below looking at each other in silence, Rick continued, "Given everyone's high work efficiency yesterday, the defense facilities originally planned for completion tonight will be finished by this afternoon. To boost everyone's morale, today's lunch and dinner will be no less than last night's standard!"

Hearing Rick's words, the crowd below the stage erupted in cheers once again. Everyone's eyes were filled with the same fervor as yesterday, and they were all eager to get to their workstations.

Seeing everyone's high spirits, Rick said, "Very good. Since everyone is so enthusiastic, then I'll leave the rest of the work to you. Daryl, you stay behind."

Immediately, everyone left and headed back to their workstations.

At that moment, Daryl walked over to Rick and said, "Boss, what do you want?"

At this moment, Daryl was still holding the tactical crossbow Rick had given him, smoking a cigarette, and looking at Rick.

Seeing this, Rick said to Daryl, "You don't need to do those jobs with the others today. I have a separate plan for you."

Hearing Rick's words, Daryl stubbed out his cigarette, exhaled the last puff of smoke, and said, "A bottle of blue coffee candy."

Rick thought to himself, "Fine, Daryl, you old codger, now you're trying to negotiate with me. Just wait and see how I handle you in the future."

Rick said, "I have something new for you, wait a minute."

After saying that, Rick walked into the back of the tactical MTVR and began to summon the system.

Rick: System, system, do you have any Hua Zi?

[Ding! Answer to host: Yes.]

Rick: "System, system, does your cigarette have any special functions? I don't believe that the cigarette produced by your system is the ordinary cigarette from my world."

[Ding! Replying to the host, the Hua Zi produced by this system is naturally much more advanced than the Hua Zi from the world you came from before. First of all, it does not contain nicotine, so it has no burden on the user's body. The tobacco flavor is the same as Hua Zi, ensuring the original taste. It also has the stimulating effect of blue coffee candy, and it burns slowly, making it particularly durable.]

Hearing what the system said, Rick's face lit up. Since he never smoked, smoking this kind of cigarette was no problem for him. Thinking of this, Rick said to the system, "System, system, how many points are in a carton of 10 packs?"

[Ding! The system-produced Huazi cigarettes only cost 1 point per box, and one carton only costs the price of five boxes.]

Upon hearing the system's words, Rick exclaimed, "Is this for real? Give me two!"

[Ding! Congratulations, host! You have spent 10 points to redeem two packs of "Huazi brand cigarettes". The items have been stored in your system space and you may retrieve them at any time.]

Having finished speaking

Rick couldn't wait to open the system space and take out a pack of cigarettes. Looking at the gorgeous packaging, he saw a golden dragon and a golden phoenix intertwined.

Rick opened the package and saw a luxurious metal box inside. There were ten boxes in one pack, five of which were printed with golden dragons, five with golden phoenixes, and there was even a pure gold windproof lighter inside.

Seeing this, Rick took out a box of golden dragons and a box of golden phoenixes, and left MTVR with a pure gold windproof lighter in his pocket.

Looking at Daryl in front of him, Rick opened the cigarettes printed with a golden dragon, took out a system cigarette that was 15% longer than a regular cigarette, and handed it to Daryl. He also took one out and put it in his mouth.

Daryl took it without hesitation, put it in his mouth, and stared at Rick.

Rick ignored Daryl and took out his pure gold windproof lighter, lit it with a whoosh, and lit his cigarette.

Daryl, with a cigarette dangling from his lips, stared blankly at the pure gold windproof lighter in Rick's hand.

Upon seeing this, Rick didn't think twice and immediately handed the pure gold windproof lighter in his hand to Daryl.

After Daryl received it, he examined it carefully, lit the cigarette he was holding, and then put the lighter in his pocket.

Seeing Daryl's reaction, Rick was both amused and exasperated. However, he had just inquired with the system and learned that this pure gold windproof lighter was a free gift with the purchase of a whole pack of system cigarettes. Every pack of cigarettes contained one of these lighters.

Daryl took a deep drag of his cigarette, the pungent smell not impacting his lungs, but instead a mellow tobacco flavor filling his mouth. He exhaled, and a sensation more pleasant than any other brand of cigarette he had ever smoked spread throughout his body, like eating a blue coffee candy, leaving Daryl intoxicated.

Seeing Daryl's expression, Rick asked, "How about this cigarette?"

Daryl: "Excellent! I've never smoked such a wonderful cigarette."

Rick smiled and said, "How about it? This pack of cigarettes is your reward for this mission."

With that, Rick handed the unopened golden phoenix box to Daryl.

Seeing this, Daryl put away the Golden Phoenix Box and pointed to the Golden Dragon Box in Rick's hand, saying, "One box isn't enough, you'll have to pay more!"

Seeing Daryl's state, Rick said nothing and simply tossed the Golden Dragon Box to Daryl.

Daryl took the Golden Dragon Box and put it in his pocket. After taking a drag and exhaling, he said to Rick, "Boss, what kind of task are you going to give me?"

Rick replied, "I need you to take your tactical crossbow and lie in ambush within a kilometer of the camp."

Daryl: "That's all?"

Rick: "Of course not. You need to set up some traps around here. You can decide how to set them up. There will be a big battle tonight, and I hope you are prepared."

Seeing Rick's serious face, Daryl knew that tonight's events were anything but simple. He quickly composed himself and stared at Rick, asking, "Approximately how many enemies are there? From which direction are they attacking?"

Rick: "I'd guess it's definitely not less than 100, and as for which direction, I suspect it could be either."

Upon hearing Rick's words, Daryl's expression turned serious again, and he felt an invisible pressure on him.

Rick, seeing Daryl's expression, asked, "Is there a problem? If so, say it now."

Daryl thought for a moment and said, "No problem, boss, I'll take care of it."

Seeing this, Rick handed Daryl a walkie-talkie and said, "Use this to notify me if you find anything, and use it to notify me if you encounter any danger. I'll come to your aid immediately."

Daryl nodded upon hearing this and turned to walk out of the camp.

Rick then summoned Bill Gates, the civil engineer from the camp.

Bill approached Rick and said, "Boss Rick, what do you need me to do?"

Rick: "Bill, the reason I've called you here is to have you build a watchtower at the location of my tent, so that you can see everything below from there."

Bill carefully considered Ricky's request and headed towards the location of the tent.

Rick followed him, and once Bill reached the location, he began taking measurements.

Fifteen minutes later

Bill said to Rick, "Boss Rick, the geological conditions here are just right for building a watchtower. You can tell me your requirements for the watchtower now."

Rick stroked his chin thoughtfully and said, "The watchtower doesn't need to be too high. It just needs to be able to see the jungle outside the wall from the top. The watchtower should be able to accommodate eight people standing in different directions, firing their guns down at the same time. And it needs to be completed and ready for use before tonight."

Hearing Rick's request, Bill thought for a moment and said, "Boss Rick, this watchtower is quite large, and we might not be able to finish it today. If it has to be completed before tonight, we'll need to send at least half of the men in the camp to help me."

Rick knew that his requests would require a large number of people to complete, so he said to Bill, "Okay, Bill, I've given you all the people you need, as long as you can guarantee quality and speed and finish the job before tonight."

Bill nodded and left.

Rick had a premonition that tonight's zombie horde would be anything but simple, and he had to be absolutely certain of success.

With that in mind, Rick went outside the camp to inspect everyone's work progress. He saw that everyone was doing their job and everything was moving in a good direction.

Rick, as the camp leader, personally came to the work site to provide guidance, which surprised some of the people who were busy with heavy physical labor.

Rick saw that the people doing heavy physical labor did not complain about being assigned to such jobs. On the contrary, everyone greeted Rick warmly upon his arrival, and some even shared their suggestions with him. This pleased Rick greatly, giving him a sense of satisfaction akin to an old factory manager inspecting a grassroots workshop.

Seeing that everyone was giving him face, Rick returned to his tactical MTVR, personally boiled 100 liters of hot water, then took out five blue coffee candies and crushed them into blue powder. He then took out five large cans of instant black coffee from his system space, immediately divided the crushed blue coffee into five portions, and poured them into the five cans of instant black coffee. He then took out two 50-liter thermos containers from his system space, and poured two and a half cans of instant black coffee and hot water into each 50-liter container.

After finishing all that, Rick called Moore over, and the two of them carried a 50-liter bucket of instant black coffee to the construction site outside the camp.

Rick put down the thermos, took out a stack of disposable paper cups, and called out to the group of people who were doing heavy work, "Guys, you've worked hard. Come here and have some coffee to rest."

Upon hearing this, everyone put down their work and came to Rick, each taking a cup and lining up to receive the cup.

The first person to finish took a sip of coffee and was immediately captivated by its strong black coffee flavor. They even felt their fatigue was relieved by the coffee, and the taste was even richer than hand-ground coffee.

He then said to the others, "Guys, the coffee Rick prepared for us is even better than the coffee I drank before the apocalypse. After drinking it, I felt much less tired. Because of this, our group's work efficiency will surpass that of the other groups today."

Upon hearing this, the others took a sip with some skepticism, and then experienced the same feeling as the first person.

five minutes later

After finishing their coffee, everyone was full of energy and went back to their work.

Rick and Moore continued carrying the coffee to the next construction site.

And just like that, all 100 liters of coffee were finished, and everyone was full of energy. In this atmosphere, all the work was completed before lunch.
