The Walking Dead: I Sell Arms as a Sixth-Rate Seller in the Apocalypse

Chapter 22 Bonfire Feast and Carol's Request

Evening

Abandoned quarry camp

Tactical MTVR

While no one was around and Moore on the roof of the car went outside to relieve himself, Rick took out the food he would eat that night from his personal storage space.

It contains not only rice and flour, but also various fresh meats, canned goods, fresh vegetables, and seasoning packets, offering a variety of products comparable to a supermarket.

These items were all looted by Rick from the previous department store. Rick has entered everything in the system store so that if a food crisis ever occurs, Rick can use points to exchange for some emergency supplies from the space.

However, doing so would waste a lot of points, since the food in the system store is not cheap at all. Instead of buying this as an emergency measure, it would be more appropriate to buy MRE individual combat rations.

Thinking of this, Rick stood on the roof of the MTVR and shouted to a group of women working in the distance, "Ladies, please stop what you're doing and come to me!"

Upon hearing Rick's shout, the women in the distance put down their work and walked towards the tactical MTVR where Rick was located.

Seeing that most of the women had arrived, Rick addressed the crowd: "Ahem, everyone look at me! Look at me! Look at me! I have something to announce."

The women burst out laughing when they heard Rick's crazy words.

Rick, realizing the absurdity of his actions, didn't take it to heart. Instead, he continued, "Ahem, that was just an impromptu performance. You'll get used to it after you see it a few more times."

The women laughed even louder after hearing this, and one of them even said to Rick on the roof of the car, "Rick, you're so funny. Is this how you usually make everyone laugh?"

Seeing that the person asking the question was Jacqueline, Rick said to Jacqueline below, "Yes, Ms. Jacqueline, I just like this kind of thing. Although it may seem embarrassing and awkward to others, as long as I don't feel embarrassed or awkward, then it's others who are embarrassed and awkward! The main point is to maximize mental defense."

Jacqueline shook her head upon hearing this. In all her life, she had never met anyone as shameless as Rick. However, Rick was the leader of the camp, and he had saved her and given her weapons before. For that reason alone, even if Rick was a goofball, she could only silently accept it.

Seeing Jacques looking down awkwardly, as if he wanted to dig a three-bedroom apartment out of his toes, Rick changed the subject, saying, "Ladies, since everyone has participated in the labor, I'm very moved to see you all working so hard. So I've decided to take out the food I scavenged from the department store and cook you a good meal tonight to reward you."

With that, Rick climbed into the tactical MTVR, called Moore over, and began unloading food from the vehicle.

When everyone saw the pile of food being carried down, they screamed with joy, which startled the man who was still working not far away. Everyone put down what they were doing, grabbed their weapons, and came to the tactical MTVR.

After the crowd gathered around, they saw many women screaming with joy, including his wife and girlfriend.

Rick, fearing a misunderstanding, repeated what he had told the women to the men. When the men saw the pile of food that Moore and Rick had carried down, they started shouting just like the women.

Seeing everyone's excitement, Rick stepped forward, cleared his throat, and said, "Ladies and gentlemen, please be patient. Ladies who can cook, please stay and prepare the ingredients and cook delicious meals for the others. Everyone else, please return to your posts and continue with your work! Once the ladies have finished cooking dinner, I will finish my work for the day and arrange for you to come back for dinner!"

Hearing Rick's words, the group prepared to leave. Just then, Moore came out carrying a case of beer in one hand and said to Rick, "Boss, the beer you brought back is enough for everyone in the camp to have a bottle."

Upon hearing Moore's words, the crowd erupted in excitement once more, rushing headed to their respective work stations. For American adults, delicious food alone is not enough; an American man without beer is like a salted fish that has lost its dreams, utterly devoid of motivation.

Although we are in the apocalypse, beer is undoubtedly the best spiritual nourishment to boost morale in the camp.

With this in mind, Rick secretly made a plan: once his territory was stable enough, he would definitely set up a beer production line. For no other reason than the importance of beer to Americans, setting up a production line would be a sure thing. Even if it couldn't be sold, it could still be used as a benefit for the various camps in his territory.

three hours later

The sun had completely set by then, but the lively scene in the camp did not disappear with the sunset.

A huge bonfire was lit in the center of the camp's perimeter. When everyone heard that there would be beer that night, everyone worked faster and more efficiently, so much so that the camp wall, which would normally take several hours to build, was completed before the bonfire feast even began.

Everyone sat around the campfire, smiles on their faces, enjoying the happiness brought by the food and beer in their hands.

When the bonfire party started, Rick didn't attend. Instead, he gave everyone an order: after the bonfire party, everyone had to return to their tents for curfew. The watchmen were not allowed to step outside the wall after arranging patrol routes and sentry posts.

After issuing the orders, Rick took the position of M2HB machine gun in the tactical MTVR, replacing Moore. At first, Moore was very envious when he saw everyone going to the campfire party, but unfortunately, someone had to stand guard in the camp, and it just so happened that it was Moore's turn.

Rick knew that Moore had changed completely since he ate the coffee candy he gave him. He was no longer as crazy and irritable as before, and he was quite easy to talk to now.

To ensure Moore wouldn't have any regrets, Rick ordered him to attend the campfire party, while he would stand guard in his place. At first, Moore disagreed, but upon hearing that it was Rick who gave the order, he put down his weapon and ran towards the campfire to drink and laugh with everyone.

Watching everyone gathered around the campfire, Rick felt a great sense of accomplishment. After all, he was the one who brought them everything. Although the camp wasn't his and he hadn't helped build the walls, he had given the orders. This sense of accomplishment as the leader made Rick feel great.

Just as Rick was staring blankly at the crowd, a woman carrying a bottle of beer and a plate of grilled steaks walked towards him.

By the time Rick could make out the person's face in the dim light, she had already climbed onto her tactical MTVR.

The woman walked up to Rick and sat down on the edge of the roof. She then placed her beer and the plate of meat in front of Rick and said, "Hello, my name is Carol."

Rick: "Hi Carol, my name is Rick, you can just call me Rick from now on."

Carol: "Okay, Rick, can I ask you a question?"

Rick recognized the woman's face before she even arrived at MTVR; he knew she was none other than Carol, the future goddess of war.

Rick wasn't surprised to see Carol bring him food and beer. After all, that was just Carol's personality. Under Edward's domestic violence, Carol's personality changed. Although she was very weak in the early stages, the death of her daughter Sophia shocked her greatly. Because of this, she decided to change herself and gradually evolved from a weak woman who was abused by her family into an invincible female warrior that everyone feared.

Seeing that the future God of War was trying to chat him up, Rick wasn't offended. Instead, he said to Carol in a friendly manner, "Sure, Carol, go ahead and ask."

Carol: "Why don't you go to the campfire party? You prepared all the food and drinks, and you're the boss of the camp."

Upon hearing Carol's question, Rick didn't hide anything and said, "I'm used to being alone, so I'm not suited to attending these kinds of parties. Besides..."

"The camp must have someone on guard duty; otherwise, who will be responsible if something goes wrong?"

Hearing Rick's words, Carol nodded in agreement and said, "As expected of Boss Rick, he thinks more than we do."

Hearing Carol's teasing, Rick waved his hand and said, "Don't make fun of me. But you, why aren't you at the campfire party? Instead, you're standing guard here with me."

Carol turned her head and stared at the campfire, saying calmly, "Actually, I came to you because I need your help with something."

Rick: "Oh? What happened to you?"

Carol: "It's about Edward and Sophia."

Rick became interested upon hearing this and said, "What? Has Ed been abusing you and Sophia again? How can I help you?"

Upon hearing this, Carol shook her head and said, "Rick, I want to divorce Edward while taking Sophia with me, and I hope you will act as the arbitrator."

Seeing this, Rick said, "Sure, should I have someone call Ed over?"

Carol shook her head and said, "No, let's talk about this after we're done with work tomorrow."

Seeing this, Rick didn't say anything more and nodded in agreement.

Seeing this, Carol asked again, "Rick, can I learn from you how to protect myself?"

Hearing Carol's words, Rick was delighted and replied, "Sure, Carol, I'm glad you think so. I can not only teach you, but I can also teach Sophia, provided you agree."

Upon hearing Rick's words, Carol felt a spark of hope ignite in her heart. Filled with gratitude, she said to Rick, "No! Of course I agree. It's a blessing for Sophia to receive your guidance. But wouldn't this be too much trouble for you?"

Rick thought for a moment and then replied, "How about this, when I have time, I'll teach you two, and at other times I'll have the Dixon brothers teach you two, okay? After all, you should be quite familiar with them, right?"

After thinking for a moment, Carol agreed to Rick's suggestion. After saying goodbye to Rick, Carol returned to her tent, where the fat, gluttonous domestic abuser was still partying with others around the campfire.

With this thought in mind, Rick decided to kill him and immediately activated the system.
