The Walking Dead: I Sell Arms as a Sixth-Rate Seller in the Apocalypse
Chapter 12 The Beaten-Up Bastard and the Transformed Soldier
In this desperate situation, everyone lost their reason.
At this moment, Moore was still spouting nonsense to everyone, unaware that he was about to face a great disaster.
Moore: "Now look what's happened, we're completely trapped here. Nobody's going to get out of here. It's all your fault, you meddlesome women. If it weren't for you suggesting we go out to scavenge for supplies, we wouldn't be trapped here. Especially you two, Jacqueline and Andrea. If it weren't for you two, I would be out hunting with my brother today, instead of being trapped here waiting to die."
Hearing Moore's words, the crowd instantly exploded like a powder keg ignited by a fuse. They glared angrily at Moore, who, upon seeing their expressions, hardened and roared at them:
"What? Am I wrong? Why are you staring at me like that? Are you planning a rebellion?"
Morales spoke first: "Mor, it's one thing for you to bully everyone normally, but now you're stirring things up. What the hell are you trying to do, you damn bastard?"
Upon hearing Morales's words, Mor snorted and then said sarcastically, "What? Is our good-natured Morales going to stand up for them?"
Morales was about to say something after hearing Mor's taunt when T-boy next to him spoke up: "Mor, you damn scumbag, we don't usually bother with you because we're afraid of you. But there are five of us here, and you're all alone. Do you think you can take on all five of us by yourself?"
Mole: "Oh ho ho, looks like I haven't disciplined you enough. Since you're so brave, let me see what you're really made of!"
Moore immediately rushed up and started fighting with T. Moore's childhood was spent in endless violence. He and Daryl were often beaten by their biological father. Every time their father came home drunk, he would punch and kick Moore and Daryl. Over time, Moore developed a tough body in this environment. T had obviously never been through this. Their fight gradually turned into him protecting his head with his arms while being beaten by Moore who was riding on top of him.
Seeing that T-boy was gradually losing ground, everyone rushed over to help him. Glenn, who had been completely invisible, took a running start and kicked Moore from behind. Although Glenn was small and not as strong as the others, the running start made it seem like he was putting all his strength into the kick.
Moore was kicked aside, then he raised his bloodshot eyes and roared at Glenn, "You yellow-skinned monkey, I'll kill you today!"
In the blink of an eye, Moore sprang into action, charging towards Glenn. Glenn, seeing this, turned and ran. And so, on the rooftop, a tall, muscular man chased a small, agile man. The two continued this chase for several minutes until Moore, exhausted, threatened Glenn, "Damn yellow-skinned monkey, I'll deal with you after I've rested."
After saying that, Moore plopped down on the ground, panting heavily. Glenn, unfazed by Moore's threat, then said to the others, "Take advantage of him being too tired to run anymore and finish him off quickly."
After hearing Glenn's words, the group exchanged glances and rushed towards Moore. Moore, panting heavily, had also heard Glenn's words and was initially stunned, then cursed, "Shit!" The group then began punching and kicking Moore. T-boy was the last to strike, delivering a barrage of blows to Moore's eyes, leaving him stunned. Moore, like T-boy before him, was now curled up on the ground, arms protecting his head, cursing the group. After a while, Moore's condition was even worse than T-boy's; his threatening mouth was now silent. Seeing this, the group stopped. T-boy pulled a handcuff from his backpack and casually shoved Moore against the railing at the edge of the rooftop. After finishing, T-boy spat on Moore and said, "Pah! This is what happens when you underestimate a black person's strength, you damn racist."
Seeing what T-boy did, no one stopped him or criticized him. They just stood aside and watched coldly. Just then, a roar came. It was the roar of a zombie coming from the takeout area at the top of the rooftop stairs. Seeing this, everyone quickly took out whatever they could and blocked the door. After a while, the sound of zombies banging on the door began to be heard.
Downstairs at this moment.
After clearing out the zombies on the fifth floor, Rick arrived at the entrance to the sixth-floor staircase. There, he saw a group of menacing zombies crowding together and heading upwards. Rick pulled a large alarm clock from his backpack, set the time, and tossed it to the ground. He then hid in a nearby shop, observing. Thirty seconds later, the alarm clock's noise echoed throughout the sixth floor. The zombies still huddled at the staircase moved towards the clock. Seeing this tactic work, Rick took out two more alarm clocks, set the time, and then, mimicking a zombie, weaved through the horde until he reached the section of road cordoned off with yellow tape.
The fence here was broken for some unknown reason, revealing a gap. It was surrounded by yellow tape and a warning sign indicating the danger. After thinking for a moment, he decided to use this place to set a trap. He crossed the tape, came to the edge of the gap, took out some tape, tied the alarm clock to the gap, and then left.
Thirty seconds later.
The alarm clock rang on time, and a large number of zombies rushed towards the location again upon hearing the sound. The first zombie, with its arms outstretched, reached the isolation zone. Due to the barrier, this zombie continued to move forward. More and more zombies arrived and became entangled with the isolation zone. As the number of zombies increased, the isolation zone could no longer bear the weight and broke. The first zombie had just reached the break when it was pushed down by the zombies that followed. A shocking scene unfolded instantly: the zombies continued to walk towards the break, and the zombies at the break were constantly being pushed down by the zombies that followed, eventually turning into a series of zombies jumping off the building.
Watching the zombies falling continuously, Rick smiled and looked up. Since the stairs between the sixth and seventh floors were connected, Rick had set the alarm clock to maximum noise. At this moment, the zombies on the seventh floor who were entering the rooftop heard the alarm clock and stopped banging on the rooftop door, heading downwards. The people on the rooftop didn't hear the alarm clock, but they could clearly feel the zombies banging on the door getting quieter and quieter until it finally stopped completely. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing this.
Just then, there was a knock at the door. Everyone thought the zombies had returned, so they stood up and continued to block the door. But then, a human voice came from the doorway: "Hey! The zombies have left. You can open the door now."
Everyone paused for a moment when they heard someone speak, then looked at each other. Only the unlucky Moore, handcuffed to the edge of the rooftop, stared silently at the entrance.
Seeing that no one had opened the door, Rick shouted inside, "The zombies outside have all been lured away. You're safe for now. I lured them away using the noise of the alarm clock."
Hearing Rick's words, hope appeared on everyone's faces, and they immediately began to move the items blocking the door. After a while, all the items blocking the door were moved away. At this moment, Glenn took the initiative to walk over, opened the door, and then froze on the spot.
A figure dressed in a yellow biohazard suit, wielding a tactical machete and a military dagger, covered in zombie organs and stained with dark red blood, appeared before them. This sight instantly shocked Glenn, a young Asian man. He lost his balance and sat down on the ground. His pupils dilated, his lips trembled, and he said to the man before him, "You...you...are you a human or a ghost!"
Rick ignored him, walked up to Glenn, grabbed Glenn's right hand, pulled him up from the ground, and said, "Sorry, I startled you. As for your question, well, I'll answer you now: of course I'm a human."
Under everyone's gaze, Rick walked up to Moore on his own, squatted down, and said to Moore, "Hey bro, wanna hang out with me?"
Moore looked up at the man in front of him and then replied, "Fine, as long as you untie me and kill everyone here, I'll go with you."
Hearing Moore's words, Rick chuckled and then mocked, "What right do you have to negotiate with me? You're the one tied up here, not me. Whether or not to kill them isn't up to you, Moore."
Having finished speaking
Moore looked at the man before him with apprehension and replied, "Who are you! How do you know my name is Moore? What do you want!"
Rick: "I'm giving you and your stupid little brother a chance to survive in this apocalypse. As long as you and Daryl come with me, I promise you won't be treated badly."
Upon hearing Rick mention Daryl again, Moore's eyes flashed with murderous intent, and he roared at Rick, "You damn bastard, I don't know who you are, I don't know what you want me and Daryl to do, but if you dare touch my brother, I promise I'll kill you!"
Hearing Moore's threat, Rick laughed. In his heart, Moore's love for Daryl was like a one-against-seven-idiot. Although Moore, as the older brother, was quite a jerk, and even often bullied Daryl during his childhood, whenever Daryl was beaten by their bastard father, Moore would always protect Daryl behind him, shielding him from their father's punches. Thinking of this, Rick didn't continue to provoke Moore. He went to Moore's side, picked up a dagger, and cut the ropes binding him. Then he said to Moore, "Alright, Moore, I know you love your brother. This isn't just to save you, it's for your brother too. As long as you two stay with me, I promise, from now on, no one will be able to bully you two. I, Rick, mean what I say."
Hearing Rick's words, Moore looked at Rick, then at the people around him, and then said to Rick, "Okay, I agree to go with you, but you have to take these people with you. After we leave here and return to the camp, Daryl and I will go with you."
Rick nodded in agreement with Moore after hearing his words.
Hearing Moore's words, everyone looked at him with surprise in their eyes. Was this the same Moore they knew who bullied the weak and was racist? The Moore who had just been beaten up by them was now saying he would take them away with him? Had the sun risen in the west, or had Moore changed his ways?
Ignoring the stares of the crowd, Moore said to them, "Alright, that's enough for today. Let's get out of here without further ado."
Upon hearing Mo's words, the group exchanged bewildered glances before gathering their belongings.
Rick approached Moore and said, "In that case, I'd like to do business with you."
Upon hearing Rick's words, Moore gave Rick a strange look and then asked, "What business? What do you want from me?"
Rick materialized the M14 Crazy Horse from the system space, but he materialized the weapon in his backpack, since the system space was something that he couldn't let others know about right now.
Rick opened his backpack and took out an M14 Crazy Horse (20 points each). To make Moore fit his image better, Rick also redeemed a set of US Army combat uniform (1 point) from the system space (Note: Since the system has Rick's size, it's 0.5 points per set; since the system doesn't have Moore's size, an additional 0.5 point measurement fee is charged), two Glock 17 automatic pistols (8 points each, like submachine guns), and two tactical machetes (1 point each). These items cost Rick a total of 39 points.
After doing all this, Rick's total points were only 710. However, Rick did not regret it. After all, Moore was the man he had his eye on. Rick had already arranged the three team members he needed to recruit in Mission 1, which unlocked the recycling function. He was determined to get Moore, Daryl, and Sean, so he did not feel any guilt about spending these points on people he had already decided on.
Looking at the bag of weapons, Moore asked Rick with a flattered expression, "Are all these things for me?"
Rick: "Of course! Not only you, but your brother Daryl has one too, it's just that his is a little different from yours, but I guarantee it will only be better, not worse than yours!"
Moore: "Really? If that's the case..."
Moore didn't say anything more. He took the backpack and quickly changed his clothes, finishing in no time.
This time, Moore was different from his previous image as a drug addict. Now he was wearing a military uniform and carrying various weapons, looking just like a veteran with rich combat experience.
Even Andrea, who had previously participated in the beating up of Mor, felt her heart flutter when she saw Mor's current state.
Everyone cast curious glances at Rick, but he ignored them and asked Moore, who was now fully dressed, with concern, "How is it? Does this outfit suit you? Do you like the weapon in your hand? Do you want me to teach you how to use it?"
Hearing Rick's words, Moore smiled and said, "This outfit fits perfectly; it makes you look just like someone in the army."
Rick: "Oh? If that's the case, is there something you want to tell me?"
Having finished speaking
Upon hearing this, Moore approached Rick, stood at attention in a standard American military posture, and said, "Sir! Soldier, Moore Dixon reporting for duty!"
Hearing Moore's words, Rick said to Moore in front of him, "It's great to have you join us, soldier. Moore Dixon, I don't do that here. Just call me Boss from now on. Now, dismissed!"
Moore: "Yes, sir!"
Wearing his military uniform, Moore then went to rest to the side, to the surprise of the others, with his gun in his arms.
Just then, Rick's system announced that the mission was complete.
