I thrived in the primitive tribe

Chapter 72 Arrival at the Trading Point

However, to Lu Yao's shock, after the group had found a place to rest for a short while, someone quietly came over.

"Is what you just said true?" the man asked in a low voice.

"What are you talking about?" Lu Yao asked, puzzled.

"It's what you just mentioned, that you have salt here that you can trade."

Lu Yao looked at Luo Ya, "You want to trade salt?" Luo Ya also lowered his voice.

The two stared at each other for a long time, the man seeming to have made up his mind.

"You guys come with me."

The three looked at each other, then shouldered their baskets and followed the man to the side.

"Where is he taking us?" Lu Yao asked Luo Ya in a low voice.

"They must be going somewhere to trade salt with us."

"Are they going to lure us to a deserted place and rob us?" Lu Yao worried.

"Don't worry, nothing will happen."

Loya exchanged a glance with another member of his tribe, and followed the guide, turning left and right through the woods to a clearing.

There was a large group of orcs gathered together, each with a small, carefully selected piece of animal hide in front of them, on which some items were arranged in a neat and orderly fashion.

Some shimmered with an alluring luster, while others exuded a faint medicinal fragrance; clearly, they were treasured items or handcrafted goods.

"Could this be where they conduct their transactions?" Lu Yao whispered to Luo Ya beside her, her eyes filled with curiosity and caution, while also glancing around warily.

“It seems so,” Loya nodded slightly, a hint of relief in his eyes. “With this discovery, we no longer need to worry about how to conduct private transactions.”

"Yes, that does make things a bit more reassuring," Lu Yao nodded slightly, but her brows were still furrowed. "But we still need to observe further. What if this is just bait, and they're deliberately luring us in to harm us?"

The orc leading the way stopped in front of a small stall and began talking to the burly, rugged-looking orc sitting behind him.

“Chief,” the orc leading the way introduced respectfully, “these orcs say they have salt that they can trade for.” His voice was deep and powerful, revealing his respect for the chief.

Upon hearing the word "salt," a barely perceptible glint flashed in the leader's eyes.

In this tribe where hunting and gathering are the main ways of life, salt is undoubtedly an extremely precious and scarce resource. It not only enhances the flavor of food, but also plays a vital role in human health.

Therefore, the chief showed great interest and importance in any trade that could provide salt.

"Hello, I heard you have salt available for trade?"

"Hello, yes, we've come to trade salt. How much salt do you need? What would you like to exchange it for?"

"How much salt do you have? We'd like to check if your salt meets our needs."

Loya put down the wicker basket on his back and began rummaging through it.

"What is this thing you're carrying?" the orc who had led the way asked, pointing to the wicker basket on the ground.

"This is a wicker basket we use to carry things."

Can you exchange these?

"We only took this one; the rest are being held by our people at our encampment."

If you want to trade, you'll have to wait until our next visit, or you can trade directly with us at the Orc Market.

"That's it~"

“Found it,” Loya said, taking out a leather bag containing salt from the wicker basket.

He opened the animal skin bag and showed it to the people opposite him.

"Look, this is our tribe's salt. Our salt is of better quality and doesn't have a bitter taste."

They focused their gaze on the salt in the animal skin bag. "Are you telling the truth? This does look whiter and finer than the salt we eat, but how do we know if it has a bitter taste?"

"If you don't believe me, you can try it," Loya said, taking some out of the animal skin bag and placing it in their hands.

They hesitated for a moment, then put it in their mouths and tasted it.

A look of surprise flashed in their eyes as they exchanged a glance.

"Your salt is indeed much better than our tribe's salt. So how do you plan to exchange it?"

"We are prepared to exchange salt at the current exchange rate, but you need to ensure that you do not disclose the origin of this salt."

"That's natural. We don't tell others the source of the items we exchange privately; that's common knowledge."

"How much salt do you want to exchange?"

"Please wait a moment while we discuss it."

"Let's go take a look around first. Let us know when you have a conclusion, and then we'll come over here to complete the transaction."

"Ok."

The three of them then carried the wicker baskets on their backs and went to look at the other stalls.

"How much do you think they can trade?"

"I don't know either. Based on our tribe's previous salt needs, the salt we brought should be enough for 3 to 4 tribes."

"You mean they won't exchange all our salt?"

"Yes, they shouldn't have enough items to exchange for all our salt."

"Alright then, so we'll have to keep finding people to exchange salt for us?"

"Maybe we don't need to. Look at all these people here, we might know someone from that tribe."

"You mean, he might call all the people he knows who need to exchange salt to come and exchange salt with us?"

"What do you think? Our salt is of much better quality than what people are eating now, and the key is that the exchange ratio is the same as other salts."

If it were you, would you miss it?

"That's right~"

"Alright, why worry about so much? We'll know once they've discussed it. Let's see if there's anything we need here."

"Uh-huh,"

The three of them started strolling around. Just as Lu Yao and the others were examining a wood carving at a stall, the orc who had brought them there earlier found them.

They said they had already discussed and arranged for them to come over there to discuss and exchange salt.

When I was brought back to the stall, I found that there were a few more people there.

"Let me introduce you. These are my friends. They heard you have salt here and wanted to come and exchange it. Don't worry, they are all orcs who can get by. Like me, they won't tell anyone about our salt exchange."

"We believe you. If word gets out, it won't be good for anyone."

How much are you planning to exchange? And what will you use to exchange it?

"Is this the only bag of salt you have?"

"No, just tell me how many you need, and I'll see if we have enough."
