I thrived in the primitive tribe
Chapter 71: A Miniature Version of the Orc Trade Market
Just as the two were getting impatient, the other tribesmen returned, chatting and laughing.
Turning their heads, they saw that the atmosphere between the two people sitting there was somewhat awkward. Not knowing what had happened, they silently shut their mouths and exchanged glances, signaling each other to go forward and ask what was going on.
In the end, it was Jiuli who stepped forward to speak.
"Luo Ya, Lu Yao, what's wrong with you two?"
"fine"
"fine"
The two said in unison.
This left the group even more confused.
"What were you talking about just now? You seemed to be having a great time," Lu Yao changed the subject.
Sure enough, the others stopped paying attention to the strange atmosphere between the two and began to recount their experience of picking fruit that morning.
"Did you manage to pick any fruit?"
"We'd all forgotten if you hadn't mentioned it. Here, these are the wild vegetables we dug up, they're all cleaned." Loya took the mushy wild vegetables from their hands, speechless for a moment.
The group watched as Loya disdainfully picked and chose, selecting a few that looked decent and placing them in the earthenware jar, and they immediately became quite angry.
"Is he disgusted by the food we brought back?" Jiuli asked, pointing at Luo Ya.
"This dish really doesn't look appetizing. Would you eat it if I gave it to you?" Jiu Li was immediately speechless.
"Those were picked with great effort!"
Hearing Jiu Li's quiet complaint, the others said nothing more.
The others took out a few fruits from the animal skin bags they were carrying and handed them to Luo Ya and Lu Yao.
"You guys should try it, it tastes pretty good."
Lu Yao looked at the wild fruit that looked a lot like Gala apples and felt very curious.
"Do you want to wash this?" Lu Yao asked the person who handed her the fruit.
"You don't need to wash it. Look at the stem end. Just gently pull the outer skin off with your hand, and then you can eat the flesh inside."
Following his instructions, Lu Yao found the fruit peel to be easy to remove.
Looking at the tender pink flesh in front of her, Lu Yao carefully took a bite, and a sweet taste instantly filled her mouth.
"It's delicious," Lu Yao exclaimed.
Upon hearing this, Luo Ya looked at Lu Yao, who had a satisfied expression, and handed her the wild fruit he was holding.
"Is this for me? Aren't you going to eat it?"
"I don't like eating this, but since you like it so much, you can have it all."
"Thank you, Luo Ya." Lu Yao happily accepted the fruits from Luo Ya's hand.
"Lu Yao, if you like, we've picked quite a few here. Ask us for some when you want to eat them," the others said enthusiastically.
"No need, no need, this is enough." Lu Yao waved her hand.
The group sat down and quickly began eating breakfast. They had already been delayed for quite some time, and the sun was already high in the sky. They had to set off immediately.
They hurriedly finished their breakfast, then extinguished the fire. The group transformed into animal forms and helped each other carry their luggage onto their bodies.
After all the items were packed, Luo Ya carried Lu Yao on his back. This time, Jiu Li led the way, and the group followed behind him as they ran forward.
"Didn't they say the transaction location was around here? Why is everyone in such a hurry?" Lu Yao asked, puzzled, from Luo Ya's back.
"Everyone's afraid that if we go too late, the small tribes over there will finish their trades and leave, leaving us with even fewer people to trade with," Loya said as he ran.
"Are there not many people involved in these private transactions?"
"Yes, if everyone were to engage in private transactions, the orc market would have someone to deal with these small tribes. So, for safety's sake, they would control the number of transactions themselves to avoid upsetting the larger tribes."
"Is that so? Then let's hurry up?" Lu Yao asked tentatively.
"Then hold on tight, we'll speed up." Luo Ya felt Lu Yao pressed tightly against his body and stiffened for a moment.
"Jiuli, let's speed up and get there as quickly as possible."
"Brothers, charge!" Upon hearing Luo Ya's words, Jiu Li immediately accelerated and began to sprint forward, the items on his back bobbing up and down with his running speed.
Lu Yao felt like the scene before her eyes was doubled. [Wow, Tyrannosaurus Rex can run this fast?]
The group made no attempt to conceal themselves, and the small animals around them were frightened and scattered in all directions.
Thanks to their frantic running, they arrived at a place that would normally take most of the day, before the sun was even high in the sky.
Upon seeing the familiar scenery, Jiuli gradually slowed down.
"It's just ahead."
The group also slowed down, just like Jiuli.
When they were still a short distance away, the group stopped and began to slowly unload their belongings.
Lu Yao stood aside tidying up the items, took out a wicker basket from inside, put the animal skin bag containing salt into it, and then put in a few pottery jars and bowls.
【How about we take the pelts from yesterday's hunt, a few pieces of cured meat, and...】
As Lu Yao thought about it, she filled the wicker basket. Then the six of them discussed it and decided that three of the clansmen would stay here to guard the remaining items, while the other three would carry their baskets over there to see if there was anything suitable for trading.
Lu Yao, Luo Ya, and another member of their tribe went to the trading market, while Jiu Li and the remaining two stayed here to guard the place.
“We’ll be back as soon as possible. When we do, you can take your belongings and go over there to see if there’s anything you need,” Lu Yao said to the three people who stayed behind.
"Be careful of your surroundings, don't let anyone spot you," Loya instructed.
"Don't worry, we'll keep a close eye on them." Jiu Li put aside his usual carefree attitude and made a serious promise to the group.
After watching Luo Ya and the other two leave, Jiu Li and the remaining two put their belongings in the bushes nearby, covered them with leaves, and then the group surrounded themselves to hide.
Luo Ya carried the wicker basket from Lu Yao's hands onto his own back, and they walked side by side toward the location Jiu Li had pointed out.
"If someone asks us what tribe we belong to, should we tell them?" Lu Yao asked the two people beside her as they walked.
"Don't worry about it, we'll handle it."
"What if we're not together?" Lu Yao turned to look at Luo Ya, who had just returned, and asked again.
Luo Ya thought for a moment, looked at Lu Yao beside him, and exchanged glances with another member of the tribe.
“One of us will definitely be by your side; we won’t leave you alone.”
If we really get separated, just say you're from the Dragon Alliance tribe, and we'll come find you.
"Does this mean I should tell the truth?"
"Ok!"
As they were talking, they saw several orcs standing and conversing in a small open space ahead.
"Can you tell which tribe they belong to?"
“They must be from the tribes to the south,” a tribesman who had been standing silently to the side said.
"How did you tell?"
"They are generally shorter, but not entirely, so it's uncertain."
After the three of them walked in, they found that there were not only the few people standing there, but also many other people around them. Their view had been blocked by the trees before, so they hadn't been able to see them all.
Upon seeing the three unfamiliar faces approaching, they all became wary.
"Which tribe are you from? What are you doing here?"
"Hello, we are from a remote tribe in the north. We are on our way to the orc market to make a trade and we are passing through this area."
We heard from other tribes that trading was possible here, so we came to check it out.
"You want to make a private deal? We don't do private deals here. We're all on our way to the Orc Market, just stopping here for a short while."
Lu Yao looked around and saw that they hadn't displayed any of their tribe's belongings.
They mostly talked in twos and threes, and there was nothing suspicious about it.
"Don't worry, we mean no harm. Since we can't trade here, we'll just rest here for a bit."
"Didn't the tribe we just encountered say that our salt could definitely be traded here?"
"They might have misspoke. Let's rest for a bit and then look around the area again later."
Lu Yao listened to the two people next to her talking nonsense in what they thought was a low voice but which could be heard by almost everyone around them, and instantly realized that they were trying to lure them into a trap.
[This is obviously fake, how can anyone believe it? I feel like these two are stupid~ How come I never noticed before?] Lu Yao thought to herself.
