I thrived in the primitive tribe

Chapter 14 Preparing to Make a Rattan Robe

The next day, Feng Nan came to find Lu Yao early after breakfast. The leader had spoken to him the day before and asked him to come and help Lu Yao make something. Although he didn't know what it was, Feng Nan was still very excited. Meanwhile, Lu Yao was still dreaming.

The shaman told Feng Nan to wait a while, judging from the sky, Lu Yao should be waking up soon.

When Lu Yao slowly woke up, she saw Feng Nan standing to the side, which instantly cleared her sluggish mind. She kept screaming in her heart, "Ahhh, I overslept again~ There's no alarm clock here, really... Oh wait, how did this person get in?"

"You've finally gotten up! Feng Nan has been waiting for a while now." Hearing the great shaman's teasing, Lu Yao blushed deeply.

She quickly got up, tidied herself up, and then picked up the breakfast that the shaman had brought back for her, eating while greeting Feng Nan.

"Fengnan, have you eaten? If not, would you like to order something together?"

"Lu Yao, I've already eaten, you can eat."

"It's so late, do you think everyone is as lazy as you? Getting up this late?"

"I was thinking about things last night, so I went to bed late. I'm not lazy~", Lu Yao pouted and muttered softly.

Lu Yao led Feng Nan to the place where the rattan was placed. The processed rattan was neatly stacked on the ground. Lu Yao finished eating the food in her hand and put down the bamboo tube.

“Fengnan, I want to use these vines to try weaving some clothes, just like the animal skin clothes we wear now. Let’s work on it together. If we can make them, we’ll have another type of clothing to wear.”

"Okay, Lu Yao, whatever you say, I'll do. I'll do whatever you say."

Next, we'll boil the rattan in hot water, then let it dry. After that, we'll tear the rattan into thin strips.

Following Lu Yao's instructions, Feng Nan got to work.

First, they carried the vines outside. Since it wasn't food, they couldn't use the stone pot in the square. The two of them wandered around the village but couldn't find a suitable vessel to cook the vines.

Just as the two were wondering what to do, Lu Yao caught a glimpse of bamboo that someone had placed next to the cave as a support.

"It seems that thick bamboo can also be used for cooking."

Without further ado, guided by Feng Nan, they found the tribesman who had given him the large bamboo tube earlier and asked him if he had any more large bamboo tubes, or if he could take the two of them to find such large bamboo.

The two were very lucky; the family happened to have some extra rattan, which they gave to Lu Yao. After expressing their gratitude, the two set up a simple stove near the Great Witch Cave, put the rattan into bamboo tubes, lit a fire underneath, and began to slowly cook.

Feng Nan was watching the fire, while Lu Yao was tidying up the open space in front of the cave, which she would use to dry the rattan later.

Seeing the two busy outside, not knowing what they were doing, the shaman finished his work and came out to see what they were doing.

"Why are you boiling rattan?"

"I'm going to try making some clothes out of rattan, like the animal skin clothes we wear."

"Clothes made of rattan? Would you even be able to wear them?"

"As long as we process the rattan properly and figure out how to crochet it, it should work. Let's give it a try first. If it works, we'll have new clothes to wear. Let's give it a try; practice makes perfect."

"Then what can I do?"

"Great Shaman, have you prepared all the medicinal herbs?"

"Yes, it's all taken care of. We didn't bring back much to begin with. Next time we go into the mountains, we'll use the wicker basket you made to pick more."

"Then wait a moment, once it boils, help me put the rattan here to dry."

"can."

The group worked for most of the day to arrange all the vines.

"How long do these need to be dried?" the shaman asked.

"It takes about two days to remove most of the moisture inside. It can't be completely dry. Then it needs to be tanned. After that, check if it's suitable for weaving and start twisting it into rope. If it's too thick, you need to tear it into thinner pieces and then twist it into rope."

"Okay, Lu Yao, what should we do next?"

Lu Yao looked up at the sky and felt it was still early.

"Is the bamboo forest close to our tribe? Shall we go and take a look?"

"The bamboo forest isn't far, but it's not safe for just the few of us to go. What made you decide to go to the bamboo forest?"

"I want to go and see what we can use over there, or if there's anything useful to me."

Upon hearing this, the great shaman thought for a moment and then spoke.

"There are quite a few orcs out today, so there shouldn't be many left in the tribe. Let's wait until tomorrow. I'll discuss with the chief tonight whether we can go to the bamboo forest together tomorrow."

"Okay," Lu Yao said helplessly.

Seeing that everything was alright, Feng Nan took his leave.

Lu Yao and Da Wu sat at the entrance of the cave and started chatting.

"Great Shaman, have you always been in this tribe? Can you tell me about our tribe?"
