Chapter 14 Arya Gets into Trouble
The northward-bound party encountered few mishaps, while the southward-bound party, after half a month of travel, left Robert, whose physique had become somewhat deformed, extremely exhausted. When the party reached the Green Fork River, the king arranged for everyone to set up camp for rest.
The servants were preparing tents and a picnic camp for the king and queen to drink and make merry, and the tables were laden with delicacies and black agave that Robert had taken from Ned.
Robert and Ned Stark sat around the table, enjoying the cool breeze blowing from the Green Fork.
Although this is still considered part of the North, Winterfell doesn't enjoy such gentle breezes.
“Take a look, the letter that arrived last night.” Robert handed the letter to Ned. Ned took the letter and read it; the contents made him grimace.
“Daenerys Targaryen married a Dothraki knight, so why should we send her a congratulatory gift?” Ned said, throwing the letter on the table.
"I think it would be better to send her a sword, a sharp sword that can pierce through her body in one strike. Find a fast swordsman and send it straight into her body!" Robert said with murderous intent.
"She's just a child who has nothing left!"
Ned Stark looked at Robert, whose face was full of murderous intent, and wondered why he still harbored resentment towards the Targaryens, who had already perished, for so long.
The two argued bitterly about the remnants of House Targaryen, and after a day of rest, the king's party continued its journey.
When they passed through a small town, the king, who had not enjoyed himself for a long time, finally couldn't resist and ordered the town to rest and replenish supplies.
He himself couldn't wait to go to the town's brothels to have fun, the courtiers also went to find their own amusement, and the beautiful Queen Cersei was also secretly having fun with her brother.
Emperor Joffrey, who looked down on the country girl from the North, wanted to tease this North girl who was eager to marry him. He led her to the wilderness outside the city, but the laughter of Arya, who was playing with the butcher's son by the river, caught their attention.
"Arya!"
Sansa recognized her sister and cried out.
"Your sister?"
"What did you ask, Sansa?" Joestar asked. Sansa nodded.
Arya, who had suddenly stopped because of her sister's shout, was suddenly hit by the butcher's son's stick and cried out in pain!
Clutching the spot where she had been hit, she saw it was her sister Sansa and, unable to hide her disgust, said to Sansa, "Get away from me!"
After saying that, he was about to pull the butcher's son away when Joffrey looked at the boy who was standing there dumbfounded. "Who is this kid?"
“Mickey, sir!” The butcher’s son saw that Joffrey was a little scared and dropped the stick in his hand.
Joffrey looked at the butcher's son with utter contempt and wanted to humiliate and toy with this servant.
Arya thought Joffrey and her sister were bad guys. During the argument, Arya wanted to save her friend, so she picked up a stick and hit Joffrey.
Enraged, Joffrey drew his sword and confronted Arya, who was wielding a wooden stick. Unfortunately, the pampered Joffrey was no match for Arya, who had often sparred with her brothers and had witnessed Bai Ze's duels several times. Arya dodged Joffrey's sword and stabbed him in the ribs with the stick.
Joffrey felt like his bones were broken; the pain was so intense he couldn't stand up and collapsed to the ground, clutching his ribs.
Arya's wolf cub, Nymeria, saw someone attacking her master and ran up to bite Joffrey's arm. Arya quickly pulled Nymeria away.
Seeing Joffrey lying on the ground clutching his arm in excruciating pain, Arya knew she had made a mistake. She kicked Joffrey's longsword into the river, called out "Nameria," and led her wolf cubs into the forest.
Stunned, Sansa quickly went to find Joffrey's entourage and guards. News of the eldest prince's injury soon spread throughout the southward-bound party.
Ned also heard the news and, upon learning that his eldest daughter was also present, quickly sought out Sansa to inquire about the details.
“Sansa, tell me everything that happened when the prince was injured. What exactly happened?” Ned asked his eldest daughter.
Sansa told her father what had happened, and the self-proclaimed noble Sansa blamed all the mistakes on her sister Arya. Ned Stark, who heard the whole story, took a deep breath. This had happened before they even reached King's Landing, and Ned was worried about whether they would be able to reach King's Landing safely.
"Send someone to bring Arya back. Sansa, let's go see the king." Ned led Sansa toward the king's camp.
Everyone gathered around the king's tent. Arya, who had released Nymeria in the woods, was also found by her retainers. The queen, along with the injured Joffrey, also arrived at the king's tent, and a standoff ensued.
Joffrey's lies and Arya's explanations made it difficult to distinguish the truth from the falsehood. "Sansa, you were here too, why don't you tell us what happened?" Robert called Sansa over.
Sansa was determined to marry Joffrey and become queen, and she herself felt that her sister had made a mistake by lying.
Arya stared at her sister in shock. Not only did her sister not speak up for her, but she also lied and blamed her. Arya started arguing loudly.
"Alright! Enough talk, Ned. You take care of your daughter, and I'll take care of my son," King Robert said to Ned, who nodded at Robert.
"You actually disarmed a girl younger than you, and she even got bitten by a wolf!"
Robert turned to Joffrey with some disappointment and said something. Joffrey remained silent and lowered his head.
Cersei didn't want to let the wolf that bit her son go and wanted to execute Nymeria, but Nymeria had already been released by Arya, and the guards couldn't catch her.
Cersei continued, "Isn't there another one?" Cersei's purpose today was to deflate the Stark family's arrogance and, incidentally, avenge her son.
Sansa only then realized that her "Lady" title was about to be lost. She angrily shouted at Cersei, then turned to her father and begged him to spare the "Lady" title. Robert didn't say anything more and walked out.
Ned looked at Robert. "Is this your intention, Your Majesty?" Robert didn't speak, glanced at Ned, and turned to continue walking out.
Just as Cersei was about to order the execution of Sansa's "Lady," Ned turned and stopped Cersei's guards, saying to Cersei, "If you must execute Lady, then let me do it myself!"
A heartbroken Sansa looked at her father, while Ned glanced at Queen Cersei, who tilted her head and looked at him with a mocking expression.
Ned glanced at his two daughters, shook his head slightly, and walked out.
Sansa knew it was too late to regret it now, so she clung to Ser Joffrey, trembling with sobs. Arya glared at Joffrey, that liar, wanting to go up and give him another whack!
As Ned Stark walked out of the camp, he saw Sandor Clegane, the hound, leading a horse carrying the dead son of the butcher.
He continued walking toward the stable where the lady was tied up. Looking at the obedient lady, Ned helplessly patted her head, then took out his dagger and killed her with a single stroke.
…
Jon Snow and his companions, traveling north, finally reached the Wall. Looking at the towering ice wall reaching into the clouds in the distance, Tyrion said:
"Wow! This is truly a magnificent miracle!"
Bai Ze glanced at the little devil and said, "The savages outside the Great Wall don't think so~"
Tyrion looked at Bai Ze and joked, "Luckily we're on this side of the Wall, aren't we!"
Old Bear and the Night's Watch had already received the advance cavalry's report that our group was about to arrive. Old Bear and a few of his men were waiting at the gate of Black Castle.
Banyan quickly rode forward, dismounted, and bowed, saying, "My lord, we are back."
Looking at the wagons laden with equipment behind them, Xiong Laojie, Mormont, said to Banyan, "You've brought me a surprise! Introduce me to this Lord Bai Ze, who provided us with the equipment and weapons!"
Bai Ze stepped forward and looked at the burly old bear, Geor Mormont, the 997th Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, and said:
"Hello, Commander Mormont, I am Bai Ze, the owner of the Swordsman's Tavern in Winterfell."
"Welcome, Boss Bai Ze. I heard about the weapons you gave Lyanna Mormont and the equipment you provided to the North. Thank you for your help to the North and the Wall. The North and the Mormont family will always be your friends." He then gave me a big hug.
Old Bear led everyone into Black Castle, while Benjen and Jon Snow led the supply convoy to the castle warehouse. There were some things that couldn't be revealed to others yet.
