Exclusive Pampered Wife: My Wife Came to My Door

Chapter 47 Accompany Me to Choose Bridesmaid Dresses

The drunk Yan Zuozuo was weak, and pushing him was like tickling him.

Yan Zuozuo was carried to bed in a daze, feeling as if she had drunk something bitter. She drifted off to sleep, held by a large, warm heater. It seemed like someone kissed her, and someone said tenderly, "Silly girl."

She snuggled against him, mumbled something, and then fell completely asleep.

Remembering Lu Yaoyuan's words, Chi Moqing sighed helplessly. He figured her unhappiness tonight was probably because of Fu Zixin. This girl was just too sentimental; that's why she'd been so upset about Fu Zixin for so long. Luckily, she'd drunk herself half to death at home; if she'd gone out drinking, he was genuinely worried he wouldn't be able to find her.

He touched her little face, then held her affectionately and fell into a deep sleep.

Yan Zuozuo didn't know how long she had slept. When she woke up, she felt a terrible headache, as if her head was about to explode. Her stomach churned, and she felt nauseous but couldn't vomit.

She slowly opened her eyes and saw Chi Moqing's magnified face sleeping peacefully beside her ear, as serene as a child. Remembering her drunken state yesterday, she felt a pang of embarrassment. Although her memories of the later events were hazy, she vaguely recalled that Chi Moqing had helped her bathe, changed her clothes, and carried her to bed.

He had always been a gentle man, gradually instilling the beautiful essence of marriage into her very being. She lay on her side beside him, gazing at his eyelashes, more beautiful than any woman's—long, curled, and truly enviable. His handsome, sensual lips curved slightly upward, as if he were having a sweet dream.

She couldn't resist reaching out to touch his forehead, his eyebrows, and gently sliding down his high, straight nose to his lips. Remembering how he used to bully her, she mischievously pinched his lips, pulling them back and forth, then poked them hard, accusingly saying, "You bad person."

However, the next second he took her finger into his mouth, gently biting it and licking it in an ambiguous way.

Yan Zuozuo was startled, realizing she had been tricked. She grumbled, "Pretending to be asleep, how despicable!"

"I was just pretending to sleep, wife, you're wronging me again," Chi Moqing said, deliberately trying to get a kiss from her, his eyes crinkling.

"Let me go." Yan Zuozuo glared at him coquettishly, but her head still hurt a lot.

Chi Moqing readily released her fingers, but the next second he lay on top of her and gave her a passionate French kiss to start the day.

Yan Zuozuo was breathless from his kisses, her eyes glazed as she stared at his mischievous face. Chi Moqing felt as if he had been poisoned by Yan Zuozuo; no matter what she did or what expression she made, he found it all incredibly adorable. His usually perfect self-control crumbled instantly in front of her, transforming him into a wolf and devouring her completely.

Yan Zuozuo was so exhausted that she didn't want to move a single finger and lay on the bed pretending to be dead. Chi Moqing saw her weak appearance and smiled slightly, "You drank too much yesterday. I'll make some porridge. You'll feel better after drinking some later."

Yan Zuozuo smiled at him shyly, "Last night... I'm sorry..."

“We’re husband and wife. Instead of saying sorry, let’s do something more practical. For example…” He grabbed her chin and kissed her hard again.

Yan Zuozuo didn't struggle, but instead nestled into his arms. The warmth traveled from her lips to her heart; he was a considerate man, always defusing her awkwardness in this way.

Chi Moqing quickly brought the porridge and two side dishes to her. Yan Zuozuo took the tray and said, "Thank you."

Chi Moqing smiled but remained silent. Seeing that she had almost finished eating, he asked, "Why did you drink so much yesterday?"

Yan Zuozuo paused in her eating, a helpless struggle flashing across her face. "I saw that policeman yesterday, and we got into an argument... Ugh, you have no idea how fierce I was yesterday, I slapped him across the face. Thinking about it now, even I find it unbelievable that I actually have the potential to be a female warrior."

Chi Moqing took a tissue and wiped her mouth without saying anything.

Yan Zuozuo bit her lip and gave a self-deprecating laugh. "Do you think I'm stupid? I told Fu Zixin, but she wouldn't listen. But when I saw her being wronged, I couldn't help but stand up for her." Her nose tingled and her eyes reddened. "Actually, Zixin isn't a bad person. She's just naive and too foolish. She finally met someone she was attracted to and devoted herself to him, wanting to be with him. But unfortunately, he wasn't the right person, and she was the only one who got hurt."

Chi Moqing hugged her and gently patted her back to comfort her, "It's alright, it's okay, everything will pass. Fu Zixin is lucky to have a friend like you."

"Knowing her is my blessing. She always stands by me, worries about me, and protects me. When I'm bullied, she's even angrier than I am. That's why I can't bear to see her get hurt. She's so kind and innocent, how could she have made such a foolish mistake? She's so confused." She rested her head on Chi Moqing's shoulder, and he held her like that, listening quietly.

The phone rang. Yan Zuozuo wiped away her tears, picked up the phone, and saw that it was Fu Zixin calling. She quickly answered, "Zixin."

"Zuo Zuo." On the other end of the phone, Fu Zixin's voice was muffled, not at all as cheerful as it usually was.

"Are you alright?" Yan Zuozuo asked cautiously.

"I don't know, maybe it's not good, but it's not bad either." Fu Zixin chuckled softly, her voice indifferent. "Let's have lunch together."

“Okay, I’ll accompany you for the whole day.” Yan Zuozuo readily agreed. Now is the most vulnerable time for Fu Zixin, so of course she will stand behind her and give her support.

After hanging up, Chi Moqing looked at her worriedly, "You had a hangover yesterday, are you feeling alright?"

"I'm fine. Zixin has only had me as a friend all these years. It would be really inexcusable for me not to be there for her now." Yan Zuozuo smiled at her. "Don't worry."

At noon, when Yan Zuozuo arrived at the restaurant, Fu Zixin was already there, sitting by the window. Her once bright and lively eyes were now staring blankly out the window, completely unfocused. She didn't even notice when Yan Zuozuo walked up to her.

Yan Zuozuo sat opposite her, noticing her exhaustion and haggard appearance, especially her once bright eyes, now unusually swollen from crying. Yan Zuozuo felt a pang of sadness and reached out to hold her hand tightly.

Fu Zixin snapped out of her daze, saw her, and forced a smile. "You're here."

Yan Zuozuo's nose tingled: "Have you been waiting for a long time?"

"No." She shook her head and pushed the menu in front of her. "Let's order. It's on me. Order everything you like."

Yan Zuozuo stared at her for a while, then turned to the waiter and ordered four dishes, all of which Fu Zixin usually liked to eat. "And a West Lake Beef Soup, please hurry up."

The waiter poured them water and then left.

Fu Zixin pouted: "What's wrong? You look down on me? I already said I'd treat you, what's with this frugal behavior?"

Seeing her feigned strength, Yan Zuozuo forced an ugly smile. "It's a waste if you can't finish it, that's enough."

Fu Zixin lowered her eyes, occasionally turning the cup in her hand, and finally took a deep breath and said, "Ask whatever you want."

Yan Zuozuo was stunned for a moment, opened her mouth, but her throat was so dry that she couldn't utter a single word. She was full of questions, but faced with Fu Zixin's dejected appearance, she didn't know how to start.

One dish, two dishes, three dishes, four dishes, and finally even West Lake beef soup was served, but the two of them still didn't speak, and no one touched their chopsticks either.

Yan Zuozuo has never been a good talker; between her and Fu Zixin, she has always played the role of listener. Throughout this journey, Fu Zixin has been by her side, protecting her and showering her with affection. She always thought Fu Zixin was more optimistic and stronger than her, never imagining that she too would one day be defeated.

She reached out and held her hand tightly, looking steadily at Fu Zixin, and finally said firmly, "No matter what, no matter what happens, I will be by your side and support you unconditionally."

Fu Zixin looked at her, her nose tingling, but she stubbornly forced back her tears. After a long while, she said, "Zuozuo, come with me to choose bridesmaid dresses this afternoon."

Yan Zuozuo was completely dumbfounded, and it took her a long time to react. "I...I didn't hear you clearly. What did you say?"

Bridesmaid dress? Did she hear me wrong?

"Come with me to choose bridesmaid dresses after dinner," Fu Zixin repeated calmly.

Yan Zuozuo looked strange. Could it be that she was hallucinating because she was drunk?

Fu Zixin gave a bitter smile, bit her lip, and looked at Yan Zuozuo, saying, "I can't let go. If I hadn't seen them get married with my own eyes, I would keep fantasizing, fantasizing that there's still a possibility between us. I can't let go, I really can't..."

After a long silence, Yan Zuozuo asked, "Does his fiancée know?"

Fu Zixin lowered her eyes, a bitter look flashing in them. "I don't know. He explained to his fiancée that we only had a conflict because of the case." She paused, then said, "They are childhood sweethearts. He swore that he would protect his fiancée for the rest of his life, so he couldn't let her get hurt in the slightest."

Yan Zuozuo frowned, feeling a surge of anger as she looked at Fu Zixin, who was so aggrieved.

“This is the path I chose myself. I knew it when I was pursuing him. I did it willingly, so I can’t blame anyone else. I don’t know if his fiancée knows, but she invited me to be her bridesmaid, saying it was to resolve my relationship with him. Haha.” Fu Zixin smiled bitterly, shrugged, and said self-deprecatingly, “Doesn’t it seem absurd? Even I find it laughable.”

"How could you be so foolish?" Yan Zuozuo looked at her with heartache.

Fu Zixin shook her head: "I don't regret it or feel wronged. The time I spent with him was the happiest time of my life in my more than 20 years. Although he is getting married and the bride is not me, I can feel that he has feelings for me and he loves me. That's enough."

"And what about you? Are you going to live your whole life with this kind of fantasy?" Yan Zuozuo asked, exasperated.
