Shocking Secrets of the Celestial Realm
Chapter 12 Mysterious Mist
Jasmine, Lin Qing, Ye Lan, and Qin Feng faced off against the group of black-robed men, the atmosphere so tense it seemed the air itself could ignite. The leader of the black-robed men slightly raised his hands, a strange energy surging around him. The other black-robed men also dispersed, surrounding the four of them, and a great battle was about to break out.
Just as tensions were running high, a mysterious mist suddenly rose from the Spirit Forest. The mist spread rapidly like a surging tide, enveloping the entire battlefield in the blink of an eye. This mist was extremely strange; not only was it so thick that it made it almost impossible to see anything, but it also carried a chilling, bone-deep coldness that seemed to penetrate to the very marrow.
"Something's wrong with this fog!" Lin Qing shouted, brandishing his long sword in an attempt to dispel the fog before him, but the fog remained as solid as a tangible substance, completely unmoved.
Qin Feng frowned, knowing full well that their situation would become extremely precarious within this fog. He quickly circulated his internal energy, preparing to open a spatial rift and use spatial power to create an escape route. However, when he tried to mobilize spatial energy, he found that the surrounding space had become abnormally distorted, as if being pulled by an invisible force.
"Oh no! This fog seems to have the power to devour space!" Qin Feng exclaimed in alarm. Fine beads of sweat appeared on his forehead as he struggled to maintain the flow of spatial energy. But each attempt felt like fighting against an incredibly powerful beast, and his strength seemed so insignificant in the face of this mysterious fog.
Jasmine gripped the fragment of the bead tightly in her hand, attempting to use its power to resist the eerie mist. She channeled her microscopic energy, resonating it with the fragment, hoping to find a way out. However, the mist seemed to have a powerful interference effect on all forces; the microscopic energy became chaotic within it, and the fragment of the bead only emitted a faint light, unable to exert its full power.
Ye Lan was also fighting back with all her might. She waved the jade flute in her hand, trying to draw upon the natural elements to dispel the fog. Water elements gathered around her, forming streams of water that rushed towards the fog, but the fog instantly swallowed the water streams; wind elements howled, but seemed to be caught in an endless vortex, unable to blow away the thick fog; fire elements burned fiercely, but became dim and lifeless under the cover of fog; earth elements transformed into a sturdy shield, but were gradually eroded by the fog.
"What kind of fog is this? How can it be so powerful!" Ye Lan said anxiously, her voice tinged with despair.
The black-robed figure let out a series of sinister laughs from within the mist: "You think you can enter the temple so easily? The secrets of this Spirit Forest are not something you can pry into! Today is your burial ground!" As the black-robed figure's voice fell, eerie sounds came from within the mist, as if countless eyes were watching them from the darkness, and unidentified objects were moving through the mist, making hissing sounds.
Lin Qing shielded Jasmine, Ye Lan, and Qin Feng behind him, his vital energy surging wildly within his body to form a solid shield. Although the shield trembled under the corrosive influence of the mist, he gritted his teeth and persevered: "Don't be afraid, everyone! We'll definitely find a way!"
Qin Feng exerted all his strength, attempting to open the spatial rift once more. His hands trembled slightly, veins bulged on his forehead, and large beads of sweat rolled down his face. Just as he was about to give up, a faint spatial rift appeared before him. However, before they could even react, the rift was swiftly swallowed by the mist, as if it had never existed.
"No, we'll all die here if this continues!" Qin Feng cried out in despair.
Jasmine suddenly recalled some mysterious forces and symbols she had encountered during her exploration. She tried hard to remember the details, attempting to find clues related to the mist. She closed her eyes, concentrated, and the ancient patterns and runes kept appearing in her mind.
"I think I've got an idea!" Jasmine suddenly opened her eyes, a glimmer of hope flashing within them. "Those symbols we saw in the ruins seem to be somehow connected to the energy fluctuations of this mist. We can try using specific energy fluctuations to counteract it!"
Lin Qing quickly asked, "What energy fluctuation? What should we do?"
Jasmine took a deep breath and said, "Listen to me, everyone. We will each mobilize our own energy and release it in the order and frequency I will describe. Lin Qing, you will first circulate your Qi and blood power and release it three times per second; Ye Lan, you will then activate the wind element at a frequency of five times per second; Qin Feng, you will open the spatial rift and briefly release spatial energy at a frequency of once per second; I will use microscopic energy as a guide to merge our powers together."
Without a second thought, everyone immediately followed Jasmine's instructions. Lin Qing circulated his blood and qi, and beams of red light emanated from his body; Ye Lan waved her jade flute, and wind elements swirled around them like nimble threads; Qin Feng opened a spatial rift, and the brief spatial fluctuations caused the surrounding mist to tremble slightly; Jasmine, meanwhile, focused intently, using microscopic energy to weave these forces together, forming a powerful and orderly torrent of energy.
As they worked, the fog seemed to be impacted by some powerful force, and began to fluctuate. The originally dense fog gradually developed gaps under the impact of this torrent of energy.
"It works! Everyone, keep going!" Jasmine shouted excitedly.
Just as they saw a glimmer of hope, the black-robed figures sensed their intentions. The leader of the black-robed figures roared, his hands rapidly forming hand seals. Suddenly, a powerful dark force surged from the mist, sweeping towards the four. The dark force, like a raging tide, instantly filled the gap they had just created, the mist became even thicker, and the four's power was greatly suppressed.
"No!" Ye Lan cried out in despair.
Just then, the fragment of the bead that Jasmine had been clutching tightly in her hand suddenly emitted a bright light. This light pierced through the mist and illuminated everything around them. In the light, they saw a look of terror on the face of the man in black robes, and the mysterious mist quickly dissipated under the illumination.
After the light faded, the man in black had vanished without a trace, as if he had never been there. The four collapsed to the ground, panting heavily, their hearts filled with the joy of surviving a calamity.
"Finally... it's over," Qin Feng said weakly.
Jasmine stared at the fragment of the bead in her hand, her mind filled with questions: "Why would this fragment suddenly emit such a powerful light? Could it have some special connection with this mist?"
Lin Qing stood up and looked around warily: "No matter what, let's rest for a bit and recover our strength. The secrets of this Spirit Forest are getting deeper and deeper, so we must always be vigilant."
The four found a relatively safe place to sit down and begin to recover their strength. During the rest, Jasmine carefully examined the bead fragments, trying to figure out why they had suddenly glowed. She discovered that the runes on the bead fragments seemed to resonate with some kind of power in the surrounding area, but she couldn't determine what that power was.
After resting for a while, the four gradually regained their strength. They stood up and looked at the ancient temple again. After the battle and the baptism of mist, the temple appeared even more mysterious and unpredictable.
“Let’s keep going,” Jasmine said, her eyes revealing a firm determination. “Whatever secrets the temple holds, we will uncover them.”
The four slowly walked towards the temple. When they arrived at the temple gate, they noticed that the patterns and symbols on the gate seemed to have changed. The previously static patterns now seemed to come alive and began to slowly rotate.
"Why has the gate changed?" Qin Feng asked in surprise.
Jasmine stepped forward and carefully examined the patterns on the door. She discovered that the rotation of these patterns seemed to follow a certain pattern and was intricately connected to some clues they had encountered earlier.
“I think the change in this door might be related to our past experiences. We need to find a way to open the door,” Jasmine said.
Just then, Ye Lan suddenly sensed a familiar aura emanating from the temple. She closed her eyes, focusing intently on the aura, a look of surprise on her face.
“I sense it. There seems to be someone in the temple, and his aura… is very similar to that of an old friend of mine,” Ye Lan said.
"An old friend?" Lin Qing asked doubtfully, "Are you sure?"
Ye Lan nodded slightly: "I'm sure. Although the aura is very faint, I can feel that it is his aura."
Qin Feng asked curiously, "Who is he? Why is he in this temple?"
A hint of sadness appeared in Ye Lan's eyes: "He was my master, and he once saved my life. Later, he went to find the secret of the Spirit Forest and never returned. I thought he was gone... I never expected that he might still be alive."
Jasmine held Ye Lan's hand and comforted her, "If he really is your master, then we must find him. Perhaps he knows the key to unlocking the secrets of the Spirit Forest."
The four decided to immediately find a way to open the temple gate. They carefully observed the gate, trying to find hidden mechanisms or clues. On one side of the gate, Qin Feng discovered a strange groove, the shape of which was very similar to the fragment of the bead in Jasmine's hand.
"Jasmine, come and take a look. Doesn't this groove look a lot like your bead fragment?" Qin Feng shouted.
Jasmine stepped forward and placed the bead fragment into the groove. Instantly, the fragment fit perfectly, and the pattern on the gate began to spin rapidly, emitting a deep rumbling sound. As the rumbling sound continued, the gate slowly opened, releasing an ancient and mysterious aura…
