Blizzard called a nurse and helped the crew-cut man onto the bed.

After hearing what he said, Blizzard felt speechless.

"You mean, your girlfriend, with..."

“These things are not important. What is important is that I can’t get in touch with Xiangxiang right now, and she is pregnant.”

"Then what can I do?"

The man with the flat head said, "You should contact a guy named Li Nan. He's Qiu's adopted son. He can get in touch with Qiu. I haven't been able to reach him."

She showed him Li Nan's death certificate on her phone.

The crew-cut man wasn't surprised at all that she knew Li Nan, and just punched the blanket: "Useless thing."

Blizzard put away his phone and prepared to leave: "I don't think we know each other well, so you should find someone else."

The crew-cut man threatened her from behind: "After you've heard my secret, do you think you can still leave?"

His threats were weak and ineffective; what was there to be afraid of in someone who could barely even get into bed?

Moreover, considering his story, he seems to be the dangerous one.

"You rang the bell multiple times but no one came to see you. Didn't you feel anything was wrong?"

The crew-cut man's fierce gaze gradually gave way to suspicion as he pondered the meaning behind her words.

Just then, a person rushed in through the door and collapsed at the foot of the blizzard.

She peeked out from her messy long hair, saw the crew cut, and rushed over to him, crying.

-

Mr. Qiu sat on the edge of the bed, looking at Zhou Xiangdi who was pretending to be asleep.

She was quiet and reserved now; he had heard that she had been crying terribly on a man's body.

"If you listen to me, we only need to draw a little blood."

Zhou Xiangdi remained silent, tightly protecting her stomach with her eyes closed.

Mr. Qiu sighed, "My patience has its limits. These past few days you'd rather go without food or drink than get checked. Why?"

He stood up, exuding an intense aura of pressure: "Open your eyes and look at me."

Zhou Xiangdi couldn't withstand the low pressure around her and opened her eyes.

He said, "Is the child in your belly the one in the hospital bed, or Li Nan's?"

"No, it's not theirs, it's your child." Zhou Xiangdi cried, tears streaming down her face.

Mr. Qiu chuckled:

“I know I’m old and have some money, and a lot of young girls are throwing themselves at me. I know what you’re after by being with me, and you know what I’m after too. We each get what we need.”

"But you secretly met with a man behind my back, and later introduced me to Li Nan. I even took him in as your godson, just to see if you two were really planning to have an affair under my nose. Then I found out it wasn't him." He flicked the ash from his cigarette onto the floor. "The man you cried for, that's your lover, isn't it?"

Mr. Qiu slapped her, "Am I not good to you?"

“No, no,” Zhou Xiangdi cried. “I didn’t know Li Nan at all before. Qiu Shiyue asked me to introduce him to you, saying that she could get benefits from both of them. My child is really yours.”

"Two people, which means you're included?"

Zhou Xiangdi shut up.

Qiu's father beckoned the doctors behind him to come forward, and the four of them held Zhou Xiangdi down.

"Don't worry, I don't care about the little money you gave Yueyue. She's still my child, just not my son. What I value now is you. As long as you cooperate obediently, I'm sure you're my biological daughter, and I'll definitely treat you well."

She struggled even more, and Mr. Qiu slapped her again, making her obedient. She lay motionless on the bed.

The doctor left after drawing blood.

Mr. Qiu casually wiped his hand on the curtains, looking at the ungrateful thing on the bed.

They gave her a house to live in, bought her clothes, took her shopping, and she still dared to date other men.

He rolled up his sleeves, ready to continue the call, when suddenly the phone rang.

"...Cooperate with the investigation? On what grounds?...I pay my taxes on time, I don't understand what I need to cooperate with. Understood."

He glanced at the honest Zhou Xiangdi, then turned and left. He left two people to guard the door before he left.

After waiting for a long time without him returning, Zhou Xiangdi jumped from the second-floor bathroom in a panic. Although it was grass below, she still twisted her ankle.

She had no phone, no money, and hadn't eaten much in the past few days. She ran all the way to the hospital and found her lifeline.

Now, even just suspecting her, Mr. Qiu can imprison her. If he finds out she's not his child, she doesn't know if she'll even survive.

She was so scared.

……

The trial was held the following day. Da Tou and Sa Sha, as victims, did not appear in court due to their special status. Blizzard was the plaintiff, and Qiu Shiyue was the defendant.

She sat in the dock looking dazed, and her lawyer spoke on her behalf throughout the proceedings.

During the segment where witnesses were invited to the stage, Qiu Shiyue lowered her head and suppressed the corners of her mouth. All the witnesses were dead, so who else could there be?

From the moment Zhou Xiangdi appeared, her gaze never left her.

The lawyer gestured for her to tone it down, but when Zhou Xiangdi explained everything in detail, the lawyer was dumbfounded.

Why didn't you tell us these things? We weren't prepared at all.

Qiu Shiyue could no longer contain herself. She slammed her hand on the table, stood up, pointed at Zhou Xiangdi, and yelled, "You slut, what right do you have to accuse my dad of hitting you after you cheated on him!"

"Silence!" the judge said, maintaining order. "Defendant, are you able to answer the questions normally?"

Zhou Xiangdi shrank back: "I cheated on you, do you have any proof?"

Qiu Shiyue stopped pretending and said, "She's talking nonsense. What do you mean I made her do it? What do you mean I bribed them to sabotage Blizzard? She just wants my dad's money, she cheated on me, and she's trying to frame me!"

The judge asked her to quiet down again and produce a piece of evidence.

“Defendant, we found several audio clips on your phone.”

The recordings on her phone were played at the scene. They contained recordings of the flat-headed man initially extorting money from Qiu Shiyue, and later forcing her to give him money.

Qiu Shiyue looked at Zhou Xiangdi triumphantly, "Did you hear that? You were the one who lied!"

The judge has already found all the evidence for her, saving her trouble.

Zhou Xiangdi: "I admit it! But it's also true that she asked us to do bad things!"

The two sides argued back and forth, and the judge presented evidence again.

"Defendant, we also found a large number of photos in your cloud drive, which can prove the authenticity of the evidence provided by the plaintiff. You are suspected of infringing on the privacy of others, violating their right to reputation, and engaging in defamation and spreading rumors on the Internet platform. Do you have any objections?"

The lawyer patted Qiu Shiyue to stop her from speaking. He said, "If you have any objections, we didn't say anything. You can check my client's account. Besides, anyone can speak on the internet."

The judge interrupted him, saying, "In response to the objection from the defendant's lawyer, this court solemnly declares that the defendant's use of methods such as withdrawal, blocking, and deletion to eliminate false statements about the victims also constitutes an infringement."

"Lawyers must adhere to Article 5 of the Basic Code of Professional Ethics for Lawyers and must not distort facts or trample on the bottom line of the law in the name of 'freedom of speech.' Cyberspace is not a lawless zone. Athletes win glory for the country with their blood and sweat, and their reputation carries the honor of the country and the trust of the public. They are by no means objects to be slandered at will."

"This court hereby renders the following ruling in this case:"

According to Articles 1024 and 995 of the Civil Code of the People's Republic of China, natural persons enjoy the right to reputation, and it is prohibited to infringe upon the reputation of others by means of insult, defamation, or other means.

The judgment is as follows:

The defendant shall immediately cease the infringing act and delete all false information;

Publish an apology statement on the homepage of national media outlets and social media platforms for no less than 30 days;

The plaintiff shall be awarded RMB 10 in compensation for emotional distress.

The case has been transferred to the public security authorities for further investigation into the alleged defamation.

"Finally, this court appeals: Heroes must not be slandered, and the law must not be mocked! We hope this verdict will serve as a warning to the world: in the internet age, rational expression must be based on respect for facts and bounded by the law. Anyone who tramples on the dignity of others will be severely punished by law!"
