Chapter 5 Combat
"Come on, your things are being held here."
Following the guards, they soon arrived at a warehouse. Dio thanked them and then went straight to pack his things.
Odin readily agreed to return the seized goods after receiving the gift, which relieved Dio.
Dio repeatedly checked and, upon confirming that the goods were undamaged, laughed happily, like a large, chubby boy who was hundreds of years old.
"Hey, who gave you permission to take these things? Put them down!" Just as Dio and Eros were about to leave, they were reprimanded by a woman's voice.
The two turned around and saw a woman dressed in a black bodysuit and wearing a ferocious crown walking towards them.
It was Hella!
"Princess Hela." The guard bowed respectfully upon seeing the newcomer. A hint of amazement flashed in Dio's eyes. The Hela before him was nothing like the middle-aged woman in the movies; she was very young and beautiful, with an excellent figure.
“These were just agreed to be returned by Odin. Does Asgard like to go back on its word?” Dio narrowed his eyes and said calmly.
Hela's expression froze for a moment, then she said fiercely, "You said it was my father who agreed, not me. And it's not like I'm stopping you from taking it back. I said I would cut out the tongue of this brat who spoke rudely to me!"
As she spoke, Hela unleashed an extremely powerful aura, the chilling presence of which, like that of a demon, terrified Eros, leaving him stunned in place.
Dio's expression turned serious, and he stood in front of Eros, bringing Eros back to his senses.
“Princess Hela, I know this boy has a sharp tongue, but we have already apologized to Odin, and Odin has accepted our apology. If Princess Hela has any complaints, please feel free to speak up, and I will do my best to help.”
"But if Princess Hela were to harm my brother, that would be absolutely unacceptable to me."
Dio was in a difficult position. Although he didn't know exactly what Eros had said to Hela, Dio knew from his own experience Eros that it certainly wasn't anything good. Dio also knew that offending someone like this was difficult to resolve, especially when the offender was present and might make any outrageous request.
However, there was no other way; Dio was not yet capable of clashing with Asgard, so he had to avoid it if possible.
Hela listened to Dio's words and curiously looked at Dio, her eyes lighting up.
“You’re quite burly,” Hela said, a remark that left Dio puzzled.
"Since you don't want your brother's tongue to be cut off by me, then fight me. Asgard reveres the strong. If you defeat me, I can forgive you. I will not only let you leave, but I can also go to the dwarves to help you forge a divine artifact."
“On the contrary,” Hela said, arms crossed, outlining her terms. “If you lose, I’ll take your brother’s tongue, and you’ll have to work for me for free for three thousand years!”
Dio paused for a moment upon hearing this, as Hela's proposed conditions were very tempting to him.
Dio, who was very clear about his own strength, understood his own strength very well.
He glanced at Eros, and he was also very excited. He felt that Dio would not lose, so he pulled him hard and made him agree.
The Asgardian soldiers around Hela's eyes lit up when they heard her words. They were also very confident in Hela and felt that she would not be defeated.
Not only will Asgard receive a member of the Eternals to work for them, but they will also be able to witness Princess Hela's heroic battle prowess, which is sure to excite the Asgardians.
Dio thought about it for a moment, and then agreed.
The battle took place in a large arena-like area, which reminded Dio of the Grandmaster's Saka Star.
When the Asgardians learned that Princess Hela was going to duel an outsider and had offered generous terms, their excitement was palpable, and they flocked to watch.
"I'll give you three chances; you can surrender anytime." Hela waved her hand, and a jet-black longsword instantly appeared in her grasp. Dio saw it clearly: this was a macroscopic manifestation achieved through the manipulation of microscopic particles; in other words, it was using the energy within her body to condense a sword in her hand or elsewhere.
However, it seems that this ability is somewhat related to the hideous helmet on the other party's head, because Dio sensed that energy was flowing into that helmet.
Dio was not to be outdone, his whole body erupted with energy, and his eyes turned blood red as if lava was flowing.
Hela looked at Dio with great surprise: "This is quite unexpected."
Dio didn't reply. He clenched his fist, unleashed a burst of energy, and punched Hela.
Hela waved her hand, and a wall of swords rose from the ground to block, but Dio easily shattered it and swung it at Hela's face, sending her flying.
The thought that the Asgardians were all battle maniacs made Dio not intend to hold back. This was an insult to these fighting fanatics, and leaving Asgard might be very difficult for them.
Hela, who had been knocked away, flipped over and landed steadily on the ground, a strange smile on her face, which made Dio look at her with a puzzled expression.
[Does this woman have some strange fetish?] Dio wondered.
Hela stretched out her hand in a fist, and to Dio's utter bewilderment, a thunderous hammer flew into Hela's hand.
Dio slapped his forehead.
[They forgot that she was the second owner of Thor's hammer, and that hammer is incredibly powerful.]
Dio could never forget Thanos in Avengers: Endgame, who was completely overwhelmed by Captain America's combo and had no chance to fight back.
"I grant you permission to use weapons as well. Go forth, noble warrior!" Hela held Thor's hammer with great pride, while the Asgardians watching cheered.
Odin used Thor's hammer before, and it was incredibly powerful. Now it has been passed on to Hela, and part of Hela's fame on the battlefield is due to the hammer.
Helpless, Dio reached to his waist and a very large longsword appeared in his hand.
This knife is called the Floating Blade. It was obtained from opening a treasure chest. It came from the comic "Corpse Brother" that Dio read in his previous life. The protagonist used this knife in the final battle.
However, due to the demanding nature of its use, Dio modified it after acquiring it, making it sharp enough to cut subatomic particles in conjunction with his energy emission. Moreover, Dio also reinforced the material due to its material properties.
Although it was originally a "divine weapon," Dio couldn't help but make comparisons when he thought about his own Tyrant's Blade that could cleave vibranium shields in the future.
Although it was unclear whether he could withstand Thor's hammer head-on, Dio still had great confidence in himself.
After all, in the original comics, the weapons used by his subordinates Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight were all manufactured by Thanos himself, and he, possessing all the knowledge of Emperor Thanos, was capable of doing the same.
Hela raised an eyebrow when she saw the longsword that appeared in Dio's hand: "I didn't expect your Dark Quadrant's technology to be so advanced. Has your space technology already reached civilian use?"
Dio looked at the floating blade in his hand and nodded: "Except for not being able to carry too large items, it's basically fine for civilian use, but it can't be too common."
Hela didn't answer again, and charged forward with Thor's hammer raised.
Using the Shark Sword Technique he had come up with, Dio dodged Thor's hammer just as it was about to strike him, and then slashed at Hela with his sword.
However, seeing that Hela showed no panic at the impending sword or the whistling wind behind her, Dio decisively withdrew his sword and dodged the attack with a roll.
Hela, after retrieving Thor's hammer, looked at Dio with surprise and asked, "How did you know my Mjolnir could be retrieved?"
Hela used this trick to kill countless opponents, thinking she could rely on it forever, but unexpectedly someone saw through it.
“I didn’t know, I just reacted quickly.” Dio stood up, raised his knife, and lunged forward.
To be honest, he didn't know that Hela could retrieve Thor's hammer. In the ancient Avengers comics, even Odin couldn't retrieve Thor's hammer; he would throw it out and then have to pick it up himself.
This world is clearly a cinematic universe. Dio knew that Hela could summon Thor's hammer, but it wasn't shown much in the movies, so he subconsciously forgot about it after taking out the weapon.
