Orcs have huge appetites; even a seven- or eight-year-old child eats more than an adult on Earth. This pot of meat soup is just enough for a family of four; with a few more children, it wouldn't be nearly enough.

The wind said, "Then let's do something else."

Bai Ling thought for a moment and asked, "Father, do you know where there are stone slabs?"

Feng thought for a moment and said, "There are some by the river. Ling, what kind of stone slab do you want?"

Bai Ling held out her hand and gestured: "The smallest size should be this big, and the thinner the better."

Feng nodded, gave his son a few more instructions, and then ran towards the river.

Orcs are much faster and have better stamina than humans. Feng is a white wolf orc, and white wolf orcs are among the fastest orcs. Before long, Feng's figure disappeared from sight.

Bai Ling took out a large piece of beast meat. It was the leg meat of a black beast, with firm and tender meat, little fat and a lot of meat, making it a good material for barbecue.

Bai Ling cut the meat into palm-sized slices and then marinated it with salt.

About two and a half days' journey west from the tribe, there is a salt lake where the tribe obtains its salt. The salt is bluish-white and slightly bitter, but it is within an acceptable range.

There wasn't enough meat for the children, so Bai Ling rolled out a smaller slice of gourd and added it to the broth. With the roasted meat, it was more than enough for the family and the children.

While Bai Ling was working, the group of children surrounded him, chattering away like a flock of little sparrows.

Bai Ling used to be a little fool who didn't understand or know anything. He couldn't play with the young orcs in the tribe at all. Only the children in the tribe didn't mind him and were willing to play with him.

He was hit on the head by a rock and lay unconscious at home. These children often came to visit him. Today, knowing that he had regained consciousness, they brought him gifts.

The children didn't look down on Bai Ling at all; they genuinely considered him a good friend. It was for this reason that Feng was willing to let them stay for dinner.

Bai Ling finished tidying up the melon, and the wind returned.

The stone slab he found was about one meter long, fifty centimeters wide, and about one centimeter thick. One side was relatively flat, while the other side was uneven.

The wind knew that his son would use the stone slab to make food, so he washed the stone slab clean by the river.

Bai Ling then directed several children to build a fire pit. After starting the fire, they placed the stone slab on the fire pit, and then all they had to do was wait.

After the moisture on the stone slab was dried by baking, animal fat was poured on it. When the animal fat started to smoke, Bai Ling used two tree branches to pick up the cut black animal meat and placed it on the stone slab to start frying.

The moment the meat touched the stone slab, it sizzled, and the aroma of the fat spread, even the wind couldn't help but sniff it.

The meat slowly shrank, and the side that was in contact with the stone slab gradually released oil. Bai Ling saw that it was almost done and began to flip the meat slices over.

After being fried in hot oil, one side of the meat had turned slightly white. As Bai Ling flipped the meat over, she said, "Father, go wash some more leafy greens. We'll wrap the meat in them later."

*

A group of children stood beside Bai Ling, craning their necks to look at the slices of meat on the stone slab.

They had never smelled such a unique and rich aroma before. It was even more appealing than the smell of roasted or boiled meat. Even after they had eaten, the aroma would make their mouths water. They hadn't eaten yet, and the smell was simply unbearable.

Bai Ling took a large leafy green, used a twig to pick up two pieces of golden-fried meat, placed them on it, and rolled it up along one side of the green. A simple version of meat roll was ready.

Bai Ling gave the first meat roll to her father: "Father, try it and see if it's good."

His son's eyes were bright, with a faint light in them, which made Feng unable to refuse. He took the rolled meat from his son's hand and took a big bite.

Besides being crisp, leafy greens have no other flavor, and orcs don't like to eat them. If food is plentiful, most orcs won't bother to pick this wild vegetable.

However, bland leafy greens are a perfect match for fatty slices of meat.

With one bite, the first sensation is the crispness of the leafy greens, followed by the fragrant and crispy grilled meat. The crispness of the leafy greens neutralizes the greasiness of the grilled meat, while the aroma of the grilled meat infects the blandness of the leafy greens. Feng barely chewed before swallowing a large bite of the rolled meat.

Bai Ling rolled up meat for the children while observing her father's expression.

Father narrowed his eyes, unable to hide the surprise in them. He chewed the meat roll very quickly, which showed that he really liked it.

Not only did their father like it, but all the children who got the meat rolls loved them too. One impatient child even ate a meat roll in just two or three bites, and then looked at Bai Ling longingly.

Bai Ling smiled and said, "We'll have to wait a little while."

The stone slab is quite thick, so the meat isn't fried very quickly. However, being thick has its advantages, namely that the meat won't burn and will taste better.

The meat in the earthenware pot was almost cooked, so Bai Ling threw in the celery, stirred it with two twigs, and then tore the large leafy greens into palm-sized pieces and threw them into the pot.

Feng, standing to the side, asked with some confusion, "Ling, why didn't you put all these things in together?"

When he and the orcs in the tribe cooked, they would throw the meat and vegetables into the earthenware pot together to boil, unlike his son who would add things here and there.

Bai Ling explained, "Father, meat takes a long time to cook, melons take a short time, long-stemmed vegetables take an even shorter time, and large-leaf vegetables take the shortest time, so the cooking times are different. Some vegetables taste better when added earlier, and some taste better when added later, so they are different."

The wind asked, "Did you learn all of this in your dreams?"

There is no other reason besides this.

Bai Ling nodded: "Yes, I learned many cooking methods in my dream, this is the simplest one."

Feng's eyes reddened again, and he nodded repeatedly: "Yes, okay, Father, I'm waiting for you to make me more delicious food."

The rolled meat was delicious, and the stewed meat was also very tasty.

The lean and fatty meat is stir-fried in oil, then stewed over high heat. Soft gourd, fragrant celery, and crisp leafy greens are added, and a steaming bowl of stewed meat is ready.

The meat was neither tough nor raw, and it smelled wonderful. The gourd was stewed until it was soft and tender, with the aroma of oil. The celery and leafy greens were also delicious, with their own sweetness and crispness, plus the fragrance of the meat.

Bai Ling took a sip of the meat soup, her eyes narrowing with delight.

The aroma of meat, the tenderness of melon, the sweetness of celery, and the crispness of leafy greens are all concentrated in the broth. One sip and you feel completely relaxed.
