A passerby in a horror movie

Chapter 11 Professor at the CDC

"We'll know whether it works or not once we see it."

Li Haotian couldn't be 100% certain of success either. Although that's how it's portrayed in the movie, who knows if there might be any unexpected events?

However, he still had to go out and see what was going on, otherwise he wouldn't be able to complete his mission if he stayed in the hotel all the time.

"Smith, you stay inside and don't come out. I'm going out to check."

Li Haotian wrapped his arm in a towel and sheet, then took out a pistol.

Although he had never fired a handgun in real life, he had watched many videos about firearms and could handle them.

Holding a pistol, Li Haotian quietly opened the door.

"Li, be careful."

Smith said with concern.

Smith wouldn't care about Li Haotian until the zombies appeared.

However, now everything Li Haotian predicted has come true, and he doesn't want this mysterious insider to be infected by zombies.

As soon as I stepped out of the room, I saw several zombies roaming around inside the building.

These zombies had only recently turned into zombies, and they still looked very fresh.

As soon as Li Haotian stepped out, the zombies sensed him and turned to face him.

Li Haotian's heart tightened.

Fortunately, the zombies sniffed at Li Haotian and then ignored him, continuing to wander around.

"Phew, that worked!"

Seeing that the zombies ignored him, Li Haotian felt completely relieved.

After hovering around the zombies to make sure there were no problems, Li Haotian reopened the door and went back inside.

"Li, are you alright?"

Smith looked nervously at Li Haotian, fearing that he might turn into a zombie and pounce on him at any moment.

"If I had something to do, would I still be able to open the door and come in? Don't worry, the zombies didn't attack me. Come with me and we'll go take a look."

Li Haotian rolled his eyes at him and said.

This guy is quite cautious; at least he won't cause himself any trouble.

Li Haotian opened the door and brought Smith out.

Just like before, the zombies showed no interest in the two of them, which put Smith at ease.

"Li, you are my savior. If you hadn't reminded me, I would probably be a zombie by now."

Smith said gratefully.

He is now incredibly glad he made that decision, and at the same time, he is even more curious about Li Haotian.

Li Haotian actually knew about the zombies in advance and even knew how to deal with them. How did this guy become so smart?

Despite his curiosity, Smith didn't forget to follow the other person.

The two went downstairs, found a working motorcycle on the street, and rode to the CDC.

There were no living people on the road anymore, only wandering zombies and cars stuck in traffic.

If you were to drive there, you simply couldn't move it.

"boom."

The sound of the motorcycle attracted the attention of the zombies, and many of them began to gather around the two. However, after smelling the motorcycle, they looked disgusted and made no other move.

Li Haotian and Smith quickly arrived at the CDC.

This place was not spared either; not only the security guards, but also most of the staff inside were infected.

However, there were also survivors.

When Li Haotian arrived at the germ storage room, he found two other people hiding inside.

"Smith!"

Upon seeing Smith, the two middle-aged men inside became excited.

They personally witnessed Smith and a man safely navigate through the zombies to reach the storage room, which meant the man had a way of avoiding the zombies.

"Professor Carey, Professor Abel, you are still alive."

Upon seeing the two, Smith's eyes lit up; he had thought the people at the CDC were all dead.

He had been trying to call the CDC from the hotel, but couldn't get through, and he thought all of them had perished.

Smith is Professor Carey's assistant, and the two are quite familiar with each other.

After quietly opening the door and letting Li Haotian and Smith in, Kerry and Abel immediately asked questions.

"Smith, how come you're all alright? Why didn't those horrible guys attack you?"

The CDC was already overrun by early morning because it was close to the horde of zombies.

If Professor Kerry and his companion hadn't had to go to the storeroom, they wouldn't have escaped this fate either.

The two professors witnessed their colleagues from the CDC turn into zombies, chasing and devouring people. They were so frightened that they dared not move.

They remained in a state of panic until Smith and Li Haotian arrived.

"Professor, let me tell you, this is all thanks to Li..."

Smith recounted what had happened the day before, and also told the two about the characteristics of zombies and the germs.

"Zombie virus?"

"Won't attack those who are seriously injured or ill?"

Both were professors of microbiology, and after listening to Smith's description and analyzing it, they felt it was very likely.

Moreover, with two living examples here, they had no choice but to believe that Smith was right.

"Professors, only a few of us know about this right now. I hope you can report it to the government and ask them to find a solution."

Li Haotian spoke to Professor Kerry, who was preparing the injection solution.

These two professors are somewhat influential, with access to higher-ups, and their words carry weight. Having them report on the matter will surely attract attention.

Otherwise, as a small company employee, he wouldn't even have his boss's contact information, so if he sent an email, it probably wouldn't get any response.

Moreover, things are already in chaos. Government personnel have all fled to cruise ships for refuge, and it's uncertain whether they will even receive mail.

“Li, you’re right. If your theory is sound, it will save all of humanity.”

Professor Carey understood the importance of the matter.

If they verify and confirm that there are no problems, injecting the pathogens will be the best way to deal with the zombies.

The two quickly finished injecting the bacteria, which were different from those injected into Li Haotian and the other person.

Due to time constraints, the two chose the type that works quickly, and they also increased the dosage considerably.

In less than thirty minutes, the two professors' faces turned as red as monkey bottoms, which looked quite frightening.

"Go out and try."

Professor Carey took a deep breath and followed Smith to open the door to the storage room.

"Don't worry, Professor, it's fine. I've danced in front of these guys before and nothing happened."

Seeing Professor Carey's nervousness, Smith said with a smile.

"Hello, zombie Jerry, can you hear me?"

Smith approached a young male zombie, waved, and called out.

He recognized the male zombie; he was Professor Carey's assistant, just like him, and the zombie often teased him, so the two didn't get along very well.

Zombie Jerry ignored Smith and did not attack Professor Kerry behind him.

Seeing this, Professor Abel also came out, and the group went straight to the office, found the emergency phone, and prepared to report to their superiors.

"Beep beep."

However, no one answered the phone. The group tried calling again from different phones, but still couldn't get through.

"No signal!"

Li Haotian discovered that his cell phone signal had disappeared.

"Professor, do you have a satellite phone here?"

Li Haotian asked.

Satellite phones don't need a network signal, so they should still work, as long as they can attract the attention of higher authorities.

"No, we only have emergency phone numbers here."

Professor Carey shook his head.

"Let's go out and look. The state government should have some. Let's go there and take a look."

Li Haotian suggested.

There should still be survivors on the government's side. Once they are found and the matter is reported, Li Haotian's mission will be basically complete.

Even if the government officials are dead or have run away, the equipment won't be considered moved, as long as we can contact them.

"No problem, we can make more injections, which can also serve as proof of delivery."

The two professors nodded in agreement, and then pulled Smith along to begin making the injection.

In less than an hour, the three of them produced nearly fifty injections.

They picked up some antibiotics and other medications before leaving.
