The strongest astral army in Warhammer 40K
Chapter 38: Midnight Lords
The atmosphere inside the Thunder Fighter was oppressive; no one wanted to say a word. Tension was written on everyone's face. They dared not even think about what they might encounter in the wrecked spaceship.
Russell kept fiddling with his laser gun, Fire Kirin.
He could level up the Fire Kirin as long as he could kill more than 3000 enemies. He was looking forward to seeing what the second-stage Fire Kirin would look like.
If the orcs had launched a large-scale attack, the Fire Kirin could have evolved, but unfortunately, the orcs didn't attack.
…………
The wrecked spaceship drifted silently in orbit.
Two Thunderfighters landed steadily on the deck, and Space Marines and Astronauts emerged from them.
Russell looked around and his heart began to race.
The orc corpses lay scattered all over the deck.
"Everyone be careful!" the warband cleric whispered a warning to the group.
"Be on alert!" Borg commanded the Astronauts.
The Astral Army quickly formed a defensive formation.
The warband priest carefully examined the orc corpses, his brows furrowing deeper and deeper. Judging from the wounds, all the orcs had neck injuries, and they were caused by power claws. What kind of monster could have such power to kill so many orcs?
He pondered for a while and then a vague answer came to him.
"Traitor!" Only these crazed and perverted hunters in the darkness would do such a crazy and cruel thing. Orcs don't deserve sympathy, and the traitor's behavior is even more despicable.
"The Midnight Lords!" Although Jerry and Leon were unwilling to recall these despicable traitors, they had to admit that only they possessed such powerful killing abilities.
Knowing that they would be facing "Midnight Lord" Jerris, Leon became a little nervous. If there was only one Midnight Lord in this wrecked spaceship, the ten Space Marines might be able to barely handle it, but if there were more than two Midnight Lords, they would be unable to deal with them.
Left with no other choice, Jerry and Leon had to call upon the Van Grey Commander.
“Van Grey, there’s something going on on the wrecked spaceship. Judging from the wounds on the orcs, they were attacked by the Night Lords. I can’t tell how many Night Lords are on this ship right now, so I need more support.”
"Understood, Jerry. Do not act until I arrive. The Midnight Lords are extremely dangerous."
"Yes I know."
After the call ended, Jerry and Leon instructed the Space Marines to form a defensive formation and await reinforcements.
Waiting is always agonizing. As time ticked by, Russell's mood grew increasingly restless. Yes, a strange force surrounded him, an unknown force invisibly influencing everyone's mood.
The impact on the Space Marines was minimal, but it was a different story for the mortals. Every Cadian warrior's mood was fluctuating, and almost all of them, like Russell, were becoming increasingly anxious.
Soon, Jerry and Li Ang noticed something amiss. He shouted sternly: "Everyone, quiet down and wait patiently for reinforcements."
He had already used a psionic barrier while speaking, and everyone relaxed after the psionic barrier was activated.
To Russell's surprise, Van Grey arrived quickly, and with a full five hundred Space Marines—half of the Space Marines on the planet.
Van Grey quickly approached Jerris and Leon, carefully examining the wound on the orc's neck. He said, "Judging from the wound, only those monstrous traitors could have accomplished this."
Jerry nodded and said: Yes, there must be traitors hiding here! It's just that we don't know how many there are yet.
With a serious expression and cold eyes, Van Grey said: No matter how many traitors there are, we must eliminate them.
Jerry hummed in agreement.
"Everyone, get ready. We're about to enter the wrecked ship. Once inside, don't wander off. Stay close together and look after each other," Van Grey instructed everyone.
Five Space Marines clad in Terminator armor led the way. They not only wore Terminator power armor but also carried power shields and power swords, with blue light shimmering on the blades.
Space Marines and Astronauts maintained their defensive formation as they entered the wrecked ship.
The corridor was also filled with orc corpses, and the rooms on both sides were also filled with orc corpses, with blood and bits of flesh everywhere underfoot.
"Giggle..." A strange sound suddenly rang out.
It was like a ghost, sometimes near, sometimes far, sometimes high, sometimes low.
"You idiot, you wiped out all the green trash, and all you got was a bunch of shiny silver toys!"
"Squeak, squeak..." Another strange, maddening sound rang out.
"Let us kill these 'false emperors' most loyal lackeys; their blood is sweeter than orc blood! Hahaha!"
Although the sound wasn't loud, everyone could hear it clearly. Upon hearing it, Russell felt a chill run down his spine, his hair stood on end, cold sweat involuntarily soaked his palms, and his hand gripping the Fire Qilin trembled slightly.
"Killing these shiny toys would be easy, but I don't want to kill them so quickly. Anyway, there's nothing fun here. Wouldn't it be better to let these guests play with us?"
"Don't overestimate yourself. They're not those stupid orcs; they're the False Emperor's lackeys, powerful lackeys!"
"Powerful? Heh heh heh, I've killed far too many opponents that powerful. I can't even say exactly how many."
"Hmph, let's greet these guests!"
The sound abruptly stopped, and all around was dark and quiet again, the atmosphere so tense it was suffocating.
"I am Van Grey, the Grand Master of the Silver Knights. Traitor, if you have the guts, show yourself and let us have a fair and square duel!" Van Grey said in his deep voice.
But the darkness did not answer him; all around remained quiet.
"Traitor, come out! What kind of skill is it to hide?" Van Grey continued to shout sternly.
A bolt of lightning struck out, illuminating the darkness with a glimmer of light.
A dark shadow suddenly flashed by.
Several Space Marines immediately opened fire with their bomb guns, and loud explosions rang out continuously. Bullets hit the walls and exploded intermittently, but unfortunately there was nothing around.
"Hahaha, a warband cleric is looking for death, and what about that warband leader? I'll slit your throat and suck your blood dry in a minute." The strange, chilling voice rang out again.
“Traitor, stop hiding in the shadows and bragging. If you were really capable of slitting my throat, you would have come long ago. The bastards of ‘Cotz’ are all cowards,” Van Grey said coldly.
