Chapter 311 Fame Spreads Far and Wide
The news of Krugas's banishment was like a bombshell, sending shockwaves through the chaotic waves of the Warp. Demons began to whisper, spreading this unsettling news. A mortal had banished three archdemons in succession—the galactic villain Vodar, Bloodglory, and the Many-Faced Demon Lord—and now even Nurgle's archdemon Krugas had fallen to him. This name, Russell, began to echo in every corner of the Warp.
In the realm of chaos, demons have always prided themselves on their power and cunning, regarding mortals as mere ants. However, Russell's arrival shattered this arrogant perception. His golden psionic energy, like the wrath of an emperor, could tear apart corrupting forces and even banish archdemons back to the warp. This power posed an unprecedented threat to the demons.
In Nurgle's Garden, beneath the decaying trees, a group of plague messengers whispered amongst themselves.
“That mortal… Russell, who exactly is he? Why is his power able to defy our blessing?” a plague messenger asked in a hoarse voice.
“His psionic energy… is like the wrath of an emperor, pure and powerful,” another Plaguebringer replied, a hint of fear in its voice.
“We must be careful and not underestimate him any longer,” the third plague messenger whispered. “Otherwise, you and I may be the next to be banished.”
Meanwhile, in Khorne's Blood Arena, the demons of the Blood God were also discussing Russell's name.
"A mere mortal has managed to banish a great demon? This is utterly disgraceful!" roared a bloodthirsty demon, slamming its giant axe into the ground.
“But his power… is indeed not to be underestimated,” another Khorne demon murmured. “Perhaps we should consider him a target worth hunting.”
"Hunt him? No, we should avoid him," the third demon sneered. "Even Kugas was defeated by him, why should we go and die?"
Within Tzeentch's Tower of Deception, the shadow of the Thousand-Faced Demon Lord flickered in countless mirrors. His voice, like a whispering wind, echoed throughout the tower: "Russell... the existence of this mortal has disrupted our plans. His power even threatens our very essence."
“Perhaps we should make use of him,” a Tzeentch demon murmured. “His power is so great that if we can corrupt him, he will become our most powerful weapon.”
"Corrupt him? No, his will is too strong." The shadow of the Thousand-Faced Demon Lord sneered. "We need a more careful plan; we can't let him continue to sabotage our scheme."
In Slaanesh's Hall of Pleasure, the demons' interest in Russell was tinged with a morbid curiosity.
“A mortal can actually resist the power of a great demon… his soul must be incredibly delicious.” A Slaanesh demon licked its lips, its eyes gleaming with greed.
“Perhaps we should let him experience the ultimate pleasure and see if his will can resist,” another demon chuckled softly.
“No, his power is too dangerous,” the third demon warned. “We cannot take the risk.”
In every corner of the warp, demons were discussing Russell's name. His existence had become the focus of the Chaos Realm. Whether driven by fear, anger, curiosity, or greed, the demons could not ignore the power of this mortal.
In the real universe, Russell was completely unaware of this. He was traveling with Cato Sicarius to the dark side of the Empire to confront the threat of the Zerg. He had only one belief in his heart: for the Emperor, for humanity, he would continue to fight.
However, the demons' attention did not cease. They began plotting new schemes, attempting to lure Russell into a trap or exploit his power for their own ends. Russell's fate would become even more complex and dangerous as the warp and the real universe intertwined.
…………
Deep within the warp, in the Tower of Deception of Saint Ives, the Lord of All Changes, countless mirrors shimmered with an eerie light. Saint Ives's figure appeared and disappeared in the mirrors, his voice like a whispering wind, carrying endless cunning and majesty.
“Kayans,” Saint Ives’s voice echoed in the tower, “do you know Russell?”
Kayans stood in the center of the tower, head bowed, and respectfully replied, "Yes, Master. He is my good brother; we served together in the 357th Assault Regiment."
Kayans knew very well that any lie would be futile before this powerful demon. Saint Ives' wisdom and insight far surpassed that of ordinary people, even most demons. He could only answer truthfully.
Saint Ives's shadow flickered slightly in the mirror, as if scrutinizing Cayans's heart: "You once tried to corrupt him, didn't you?"
Kayans nodded, a hint of helplessness in his voice: "Yes, Master. I tried, but his will is too strong, and I cannot complete the mission."
Saint Ives's voice carried a hint of coldness: "If you can't corrupt him, then kill him. This task is yours."
Kayans felt a chill run down his spine, but without hesitation, he immediately replied, "I will complete the mission, Master."
However, Saint Ives's voice suddenly became even colder: "Kayans, I know very well that you secretly destroyed the core engine. I just didn't say anything. Don't try to outsmart me."
Kayans broke out in a cold sweat, his body trembling slightly, and whispered, "Master, I know I was wrong. I won't make the same mistake again."
Saint Ives's shadow slowly dissipated in the mirror, leaving only a cold sentence: "Remember your promise, Kayans. Complete the mission, or you will pay the price."
Kayans stood rooted to the spot, his heart filled with complex emotions. He knew he had no way out. Russell was his good brother, but now he had to end his life with his own hands.
After leaving the Tower of Tricks, Kayans stood at the edge of the warp, gazing at the endless void. Images of fighting alongside Russell flashed through his mind, the laughter and vows they had made still echoing in his ears.
“Russell…” Kayans murmured softly, “I’m sorry, but I had no other choice.”
He knew he had to complete the mission, or he would face Saint Ives' punishment. However, deep down, he still retained a trace of brotherly affection for Russell.
However, the gears of fate have already begun to turn. The shadow of Kayans is quietly approaching, and Russell's fate will face new trials amidst the intertwining of brotherhood and duty.
