The strongest astral army in Warhammer 40K

Chapter 310 A New Choice, A New Beginning

Kugas's corrupted domain collapsed completely, the green mist gradually dissipated, and Russell's figure appeared in a dense jungle. Although his body had returned to normal, his clothes had long been corroded by the plague. He stood naked in the jungle, looking somewhat embarrassed, but mostly relieved to have survived.

Just then, a squad of Astronaut soldiers emerged from the woods. They saw Russell and initially raised their weapons warily, but quickly recognized the golden psionic energy on him. The sergeant major leading the squad stepped forward, took off his coat, and handed it to Russell: “Sir, you need this.”

Russell took the coat and nodded gratefully. "Thank you, soldier. Your support came just in time."

The sergeant saluted: "It is our honor to serve the Emperor's warriors, sir."

Russell put on his coat, which, though a bit small, at least covered his body. He was about to inquire about the situation with the Astronautical Army when he heard familiar footsteps in the distance.

"Russell!" Astram's voice came from the woods. The Grey Knight captain arrived quickly with a squad of Grey Knights; his silver armor was covered in the marks of battle, but his eyes were full of joy.

Immediately after, Cato Sicarius appeared with a squad of Ultramarines. His power armor was stained with the corrupted blood of Nurgle demons, but his expression was complex. He walked up to Russell, paused for a moment, and then said, "Russell, I... I hope you can forgive my past arrogance."

Russell paused for a moment, then laughed: "Cato, you're an aristocrat and a powerful Space Marine, it's perfectly normal for you to look down on a mere mortal like me. It's nothing."

Cato shook his head, a hint of regret in his voice: "No, Russell. Your courage and strength have shown me that mortals can also become the sword of emperors. My past arrogance made me overlook many important things."

Astram sneered from the side and interjected, "Cato, you should have changed a long time ago. Your arrogance will get you killed one day."

Cato glared at Astram, his tone filled with displeasure: "You 'tools' have no right to speak."

Astland shrugged and retorted nonchalantly, "At least we won't almost kill our comrades because of our arrogance."

Russell watched the two bickering and couldn't help but laugh: "Alright, you two. Now is not the time to argue. We have more important things to do."

Cato and Astran both looked at Russell and nodded. Cato said in a deep voice, "You're right. Although Kugas has escaped, his corrupting influence continues to spread. We must act as soon as possible."

Astland added, "Moreover, Russell's body has undergone a baptism of corruption and rebirth, and his power may become key to our fight against Nurgle."

Russell looked down at his hands, feeling the new power within him. He knew he was no longer the mortal he once was. His body had undergone a transformation through the interplay of corruption and divine power, and his golden psionic energy had become purer and more powerful.

“I will do everything I can to help you,” Russell said firmly, “but we need more support. We cannot defeat the corrupted armies of Kugas and Nurgle on our own.”

Cato nodded: "I've already contacted the main Ultramarines force; they'll be here soon. Astram, what about your Grey Knights' support?"

Astland smiled. "The Grey Knights' fleet is already on its way. We will not allow Nurgle's corruption to continue to spread."

Russell took a deep breath and looked up at the distant sky: "Then let's begin. For the Emperor, for humanity, we must end this nightmare of corruption."

The three exchanged a smile, then turned and walked into the depths of the jungle. The Astronauts followed closely behind, their eyes filled with a burning desire for victory. Though the road ahead was fraught with peril, they knew that as long as they were united, nothing could stop them.

After the world was thoroughly purified, the sky regained its clear blue color, and no trace of corruption could be seen on the earth. However, the joy of victory did not last long, and a new choice was placed before Russell.

Amidst the ruins, Cato Sicarius and Astran stood on either side of Russell, the atmosphere tense and heavy. Cato's blue power armor gleamed coldly in the sunlight, his voice firm and powerful: "Russell, you should come with me to the Dark Side of the Empire. The Zerg threat is spreading there, and we need your strength to support the front lines. Your golden psionic powers and understanding of tactics will be key to our fight against the Zerg."

The marks of battle still lingered on Astram's silver armor, and his voice remained unwavering: "No, Russell should act with the Grey Knights. The demonic threat has never truly disappeared, and we need his power to banish the corrupt from the warp. His golden psionic energy has a natural restraining effect on demons; this is the mission bestowed upon him by the Emperor."

Cato frowned, a hint of displeasure in his voice: "Asterland, Russell is not a tool of your Grey Knights. He has his own choices, and the battle on the dark side of the Empire is equally important. The threat of the Zerg is no less than that of the Demons, and perhaps even more urgent!"

Astram responded coldly, “Cato, you always only see the battle in front of you, but you ignore the greater threat. Once the corrupting power of the demons spreads, the entire Empire will be plunged into chaos. Russell’s power is key to our fight against the demons, and he must deal with this issue first.”

The argument between the two men grew increasingly heated, their voices echoing through the ruins. Russell stood in the middle, his brow furrowed, weighing the offers from both sides. He knew that choosing either side would mean abandoning the other's fight.

Just then, Cato took a deep breath, his tone softening slightly: "Asterland, I understand your concerns. But the threat of the Zerg is equally imminent. If we cannot stop them on the dark side of the Empire, the entire sector will fall. Russell's power is not only effective against the Daedric, but also has a tremendous deterrent effect on the Zerg. We need him."

Astram paused for a moment, his gaze shifting between Cato and Russell. Finally, he sighed, a hint of helplessness in his voice: "Perhaps you're right, Cato. The threat of the Zerg is indeed not to be underestimated. Russell's power can play a greater role there."

Cato nodded, a relieved smile on his face. "Thank you for your understanding, Astram. Russell's power will bring more hope to the Empire."

Astran looked at Russell, his tone tinged with reluctance: "Russell, what is your choice?"

Russell took a deep breath and looked at the two men with a firm gaze: "I agree to go to the dark side of the Empire with Cato. The threat of the Zerg is indeed imminent, and I hope to contribute more to the future of the Empire."

Astland nodded and patted Russell on the shoulder: "In that case, I respect your choice. But remember, wherever you are, the doors of the Grey Knights will always be open for you."

Russell smiled and shook Astran's hand. "Thank you, Astran. I'll remember that."

Cato stepped forward, a hint of pride in his voice: "Russell, your choice was right. The battle against the dark side of the Empire will be a tough one, but I believe that with you here, we will surely win."

Russell nodded, gazing at the distant sky: "Then let's set off. For the Emperor, for humanity, we must continue the fight."

The three exchanged a glance, then turned and returned to their respective groups. Cato, Russell, and Arya boarded the Ultramarines' Thunderhawk gunship and sped towards the Dark Side of the Empire. Astram led the Grey Knights back to their warship, preparing to continue their journey of banishing demons.
