The strongest astral army in Warhammer 40K

Chapter 20 The Overlord of the Insect Hive

The warrior insect let out a miserable scream.

The silver-armored giant grabbed the samurai beetle's legs with both hands and lifted it above his head. Then, two balls of blue flame shot out from the jump pack on his back, and the giant, along with the samurai beetle he was holding, jumped about four meters high before slamming it hard to the ground.

With a loud "boom," a large crater was smashed into the ground.

The silver-armored giant once again slammed the samurai insect down onto a nearby tree. The immense force not only snapped the tree in two but also caused it to tumble several times on the ground.

Once again, the silver-armored giant charged forward, grabbed the samurai insect, and slammed it into a nearby boulder.

The boulder was smashed to pieces, and the samurai insect was on the verge of death.

The silver-armored giant landed beside the warrior insect, stepping on its chest with one foot and grabbing one of its front legs with each hand. With a forceful tug, the warrior insect let out a scream as its two huge front legs were torn off.

Two Licats suddenly appeared, attempting to ambush the Silver Armored Giant. However, the Silver Armored Giant had already spotted them; how could the Zerg's despicable stealth ability escape the Space Marines' eyes?

Just as Ricard appeared, the silver-armored giant swung his two warrior insect claws at Ricard.

The reason why the Samurai Bug is called the Samurai Bug is mainly because its two front claws are like two samurai swords, hard and sharp. The armor of the Ricard is simply not enough to withstand the heavy blows of the Samurai Bug's front claws.

The two licarts were cut into four pieces.

Several more warrior-type insectoids charged out from the swarm, and the Space Marines met them head-on, resulting in a fierce clash between their chainswords and giant claws.

The final counterattack by the Zerg overlord had no effect.

At that moment, Commissar Kane's communicator crackled to life: "Commissar Kane, fighter jets have been reloaded with ammunition. Please give instructions."

"Immediately deploy all firepower on the Hive Overlord."

"Copy that, sir."

Finally, the last of the knife insects was cleared away, and the hatching pool appeared before everyone.

This was a vast green ocean, and three Zerg overlords were charging towards it.

Van Grey's expression turned serious. This was beyond his expectations. How could there be three Hive Overlords? Theoretically, there should only be one Hive Overlord. He had previously eliminated Zerg Pirate Vanguards, and each time it was only one Hive Overlord.

He glanced at Commissar Kane, who quickly said, "This was my oversight. I only sent over a reconnaissance squad. They didn't send any messages back; they just brought a signal device."

Van Grey shook his head and said, "It's not your fault. When the Hive is powerful, it's impossible to obtain accurate information. Even Space Marines can't do that. Since that's the case, we have no choice but to outsmart them."

“I’ve deployed five strategic bombers; they can keep a Zerg hive overlord occupied.”

Van Grey pondered for a moment and said: "Leave the other hive overlord to the other combat brothers, and I will deal with one with you."

"It seems this is the only way!" Kane couldn't think of a better solution.

The nearest Zerg overlord burst out of the hatching pool.

As he got closer, Russell finally got a clear look at this enormous thing.

This is a monster that is nearly ten meters tall. It is enormous and its entire body is covered with a black carapace covered with strange runes that faintly glow with a black light, giving it an indestructible appearance.

Two enormous legs, four thick arms, and eight tentacles swaying back and forth on its back. These tentacles seem to be alive, and they are also weapons. The overlord of the hive needs to control the tentacles with its mind.

Each hand held a massive bone sword, three meters long and several tens of centimeters wide, as huge as a door panel. Even a Terminator's armor probably couldn't withstand such a strike.

Russell was very much looking forward to seeing how the Space Marines would defeat this monster.

"Roar!" The overlord of the insect hive roared and then leaped out of the hatching pool.

The roar of the Hive Overlord generated a huge gale that blew the Astral Army soldiers standing at the forefront off to one side and the other.

Van Grey roared, "Everyone retreat! Tactical squads, prepare!"

Commissar Kane ordered: Open fire.

Laser guns, heavy machine guns, explosive guns—all sorts of weapons overwhelmed the enormous monster before them, but this damage was like a bath for the hive overlord; it couldn't break through its defenses at all.

Van Grey drew his weapon, a finely crafted power sword.

"The power sword is a very rare weapon in Warhammer, and it is a level above the chainsaw sword. The main reason why the power sword is so rare is that it has a disintegrating force field, which can cut through iron like mud."

Van Grey immediately took action, wielding his power sword and charging swiftly towards the Hive Overlord, moving so fast that he left only a blur.

Although Vangrey was fast, the Hive Overlord was not slow either. It quickly took a step back and raised its greatsword to slash at Vangrey.

Van Grey was shocked and quickly raised his power sword to block.

The bone greatsword struck the power sword, and a tremendous force emanated from the bone blade, nearly causing Van Grey to kneel on one knee.

Fortunately, two Space Marines activated their power packs and jumped up, raising their bomb guns and firing at the Hive Overlord's head. Violent explosions repeatedly ripped off the Hive Overlord's head, but while they couldn't damage it, they could distract it and prevent it from concentrating on fighting the Vangrae.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Vangrae slipped under the Hive Overlord's legs, came behind it, and raised his power sword to slash at one of the tentacles.

A flash of fire cleaved the power sword in two, splitting the tentacle in two.

Fortunately, it was a power sword; other weapons simply couldn't cut through it.

The rupture of the tentacles enraged the hive overlord, who wildly brandished its four bone blades and unleashed attacks from its tentacles.

Van Grey and the Space Marines could only retreat continuously to dodge the indiscriminate attacks of the Hive Overlord.

At this moment, another overlord of the Zerg hive also rushed over.

Coincidentally, five Thunder Fighters also flew over and unleashed their full firepower on the Hive Overlord. Although the plasma cannons they fired were not enough to kill the Hive Overlord, they enraged it. The enraged Hive Overlord began to chase and attack the Thunder Fighters.

Another Zerg hive overlord is rapidly approaching.

Seeing this situation, Van Grey was extremely anxious. If they did not quickly deal with this overlord of the hive, the consequences would be unimaginable once the other two arrived. If they were to die in battle, this fight would become meaningless.

Van Grey roared with determination: "Everyone, focus fire!"

His voice was so loud that everyone on the battlefield could hear it clearly, and everyone raised their weapons and fired at the Zerg Overlord.

Meanwhile, Vangrae activated his power backpack, leaped up, and wielded his sword with both hands to slash at the head of the Zerg Overlord.

A Space Marine took a few steps back, then activated his power pack and rammed into one of the Hive Overlord's legs.
