The Reborn Princess Has Turned Evil
Chapter 10 Forming Allies
Jing Anle and Qin Zhihua were chatting and laughing when a nanny came to report: "Greetings, Princess, Madam, Miss. Master has sent Qin Hu to invite the Princess to the study."
Jing Anle immediately understood that it was about Xiao Heng, so she turned to the old lady and said, "Grandmother, I'll be right back."
The old lady knew what was important and what was urgent, so she nodded and said, "Alright, go quickly."
She then led Afang outside, where they saw a boy of about seventeen or eighteen years old standing at the door. He was wearing armor, had dark skin, and a strong build. Remembering that the servant had just called him Qin Hu, she guessed that this man must be her uncle's trusted follower.
Upon seeing Jing Anle emerge, Qin Hu chuckled, revealing his perfectly white teeth, and bowed, saying, "Qin Hu greets the princess. Please follow me."
The old lady's residence was not far from the study, so she arrived at the study door in no time.
Qin Hu knocked on the iron ring on the door and respectfully called out, "General, the princess has been invited." After he finished speaking, the door opened by itself, and Qin Hu gestured for her to enter, "Princess, please come in." Afang was left outside.
As soon as Jing Anle stepped inside, the door closed by itself. She thought to herself, "This mechanism is cleverly designed."
Before him was a huge screen embroidered with images of war and horses. Jing Anle walked around the screen. Although the room was filled with calligraphy and paintings, it was just an ordinary study. The room was not big and could be scanned at a glance. "Where is my uncle?" Jing Anle asked, somewhat puzzled.
Just as she was thinking this, she saw the bookshelf next to her move by itself, and Qin Xu walked out from inside. It turned out that there was another secret in this study, Jing Anle thought to herself.
"Uncle," Jing Anle called out. "How is Xiao Heng?"
"The military doctor is treating his wounds inside. Let's go in first," Qin Xu replied.
As soon as the two entered, the cabinet automatically returned to its original state.
This must be the secret room my uncle mentioned earlier. As soon as I entered, I saw Xiao Heng lying on the bed with his eyes closed. A strong smell of Chinese medicine wafted over, coming from the pot that the middle-aged man next to him was boiling.
Upon seeing Jing Anle, the middle-aged man stood up and bowed, saying, "Qin Su greets the Princess."
"Get up," Jing Anle said. "How is his injury?"
Qin Su looked at Xiao Heng on the bed and replied, "His sword wounds are not deep, and he has some abrasions, but these are not serious. The key is that the sword was coated with a deadly poison. If this person had not been physically strong and had profound internal strength, he probably wouldn't have survived until now."
"Highly poisonous!" Jing Anle and Qin Xu exclaimed in surprise at the same time.
Seeing their expressions, Qin Su quickly said, "Princess and General, please don't panic. I've seen this poison at the border. Although it's rare and extremely potent, I've spent several days studying it and finally developed an antidote, but..."
Seeing his hesitation, Qin Xu interrupted, "But what?"
"We haven't tested it on anyone who's been poisoned yet," Qin Su continued. "Although we've given him the medicine, whether he'll wake up depends on his fate."
Jing Anle and Qin Xu both had solemn expressions, because they both knew the consequences of Xiao Heng not waking up.
Especially Jing Anle, she hasn't even started her revenge yet, is the country about to be thrown into turmoil because of this?
Just as she was frowning in worry, she suddenly saw Xiao Heng's eyes move. Afraid that she was seeing things, Jing Anle exclaimed with delight, "Look, aren't his eyes moving?"
Qin Xu and Qin Su also saw it; it was Xiao Heng's eyes that were moving. Jing Anle then walked to Xiao Heng's bedside, sat on the stool beside him, and softly called out, "Xiao Heng? Xiao Heng?"
While Xiao Heng was unconscious and lost in a fog, he suddenly heard someone calling him, and then he saw a light.
Xiao Heng finally opened his eyes, and what came into view was a beautiful face smiling at him. He was a little confused, then he remembered the scene of Jing Anle saving him when he was seriously injured earlier that day.
Jing An was overjoyed to see that he had really woken up and said happily, "You're awake?"
Seeing Jing Anle's joyful expression, Xiao Heng felt a strange sensation. Was she worried about him?
Just as he was about to answer, he noticed two other people standing beside him. As the Crown Prince of Li, he had done his homework before coming and knew the portraits of the ministers of Jing by heart. He knew that this person was Jing Anle's uncle, General Qin Xu, but he hesitated for only a moment before pretending not to know and asking, "Who are these two?"
Seeing his hesitation, Jing Anle's eyes flashed with understanding, and she introduced him, "This is my uncle, General Qin Xu, and his military doctor. You were seriously poisoned, and it was thanks to him that you were able to save you."
Deadly poison? Xiao Heng himself was somewhat surprised. That day, a group of masked men ambushed him. He could easily fight ten men alone, but they outnumbered him and he was still ambushed. He knew that his wound was not deep. It turned out that the poison had taken effect and caused him to fall down the mountain.
Xiao Heng struggled to get up, and Qin Su quickly helped him. Xiao Heng clearly felt that his body was not so heavy anymore. Apart from the pain in his wound, he seemed to have recovered a lot. After he sat up steadily, he clasped his hands and said, "Thank you all for saving me today. If there is anything I can do for you in the future, I will go through fire and water for you."
Qin Xu waved his hand to dismiss Qin Su. Only after Qin Su left did Qin Xu clasp his hands in a fist and say, "Your Highness Xiao is too kind."
"Jing and Li have coexisted peacefully for a long time, without interfering with each other. It is only natural that they would rescue the Crown Prince." Qin Xu said succinctly. What he meant was that the assassination of Xiao Heng could not have been done by people from Jing, or at least not by someone sent by Emperor Jing. This would not benefit either country.
When Jing Anle heard Qin Xu say this, he couldn't help but admire him in his heart. Although his uncle was a military general, his speaking skills were also first-rate. He made his point clearly in just a few words.
Xiao Heng was a smart man and naturally understood Qin Xu's meaning. He had also vaguely overheard the gist of it while he was in the carriage. Jing Anle's encounter with him was a complete accident, and he had never suspected that Jing Anle was responsible. He had some clues about the culprit.
He was not an ungrateful person, and sincerely said, "You two have given me a peach, and I will repay you with a precious jade. If you ever need my help in the future, I will do my best to help you."
Qin Xu and Jing Anle exchanged a glance, and Jing Anle said, "Crown Prince Xiao is a man of his word. If we ever need anything in the future, we hope that Your Highness will lend us a hand."
Xiao Heng readily agreed, and Jing Anle turned to Qin Xu and said, "Uncle, Anle has some things she would like to discuss with Crown Prince Xiao alone. Please excuse her for a while."
Qin Xu understood, so he left.
Now that only the two of them remained in the secret room, Xiao Heng spoke first: "What the princess just said, is it about helping your brother ascend the throne in the future?"
Jing Anle looked at him with unwavering eyes, “Yes and no. I would like to ask Crown Prince Xiao to protect the people of Li and Jing and ensure that they will never suffer the pain of war between our two countries.”
Xiao Heng was somewhat surprised, feeling that Jing Anle truly possessed the demeanor of a princess, far superior to those palace women who only knew how to fight for favor.
But in an instant he understood Jing Anle's meaning: he wanted him to help Jing Kingdom stabilize its regime!
“Princess wants me to help you eliminate those who covet the throne. Only if the court remains the same will your words become reality, and the common people will not suffer,” Xiao Heng said.
Jing Anle found it incredibly easy to talk to intelligent people. He said, "Crown Prince Xiao is exceptionally intelligent and quick to understand. I, Anle, dare to guarantee that as long as I live, and as long as my father and brothers live, the Jing Kingdom's iron cavalry will not set foot in the Li Kingdom! If the Li Kingdom ever needs reinforcements, our Jing Kingdom will certainly do its utmost to help!"
Jing Anle had no idea how charming she looked when she said those words. Xiao Heng was momentarily stunned. Jing Anle meant that she wanted to form an alliance with him, stick together in private, and help each other.
As the crown prince, Xiao Heng knew very well that the emperor could change in an instant. Although he did not know the state of affairs in Jing, he understood Jing Anle's deep planning and foresight. After a moment of contemplation, he looked at Jing Anle and said firmly, "I promise you."
