The Book Soul Chronicles: Godslayer

Chapter 31 Hao Juying, the Little Expert in Community Bullfighting

Yu Bingwen did not miss the fleeting killing intent in Yu Kuangdao's eyes. Although the other party concealed it well, Yu Bingwen was focused on watching every move of the other party and still noticed it.

As he watched the person fly past him, Yu Bingwen wore a polite smile, but his eyes were devoid of warmth.

Yu Bingwen silently complained to himself, "For some reason, the other party still had murderous intent. Judging from his appearance, I am doomed. There are only two outcomes: either he dies or I die. Sigh, this kind of person is hard to deal with! How come I have encountered such a person so soon after leaving the sect for training? Nobody else has such good luck."

Yu Bingwen knew in his heart that the other party definitely wanted to kill him in the secret realm so that the sect could not trace him. Even if they did not meet in the secret realm, he would still take action if he had the chance outside. Now he could only take it one step at a time.

Just as Yu Bingwen was about to turn around and head towards the entrance to another secret realm, he suddenly heard a terrible wail.

"Ah! A caterpillar! A caterpillar! Help!!!"

Upon hearing the person's heart-wrenching screams, Yu Bingwen's face immediately turned grim. He hadn't even noticed the person hiding nearby, and he immediately became vigilant.

Yu Bingwen thought to himself, "Indeed, there are always people more capable than you, and there is always something beyond your understanding. Going out to gain experience has really broadened my horizons. I used to be well protected, but I was like a frog at the bottom of a well, knowing too little about extraordinary people and events."

"But... this scene is so strange. I never expected that a cultivator would be afraid of caterpillars."

Looking at the big man in front of him, crying, shouting, and jumping around, who didn't seem very bright, Yu Bingwen couldn't help but twitch his lips at the bizarre scene before him.

Yu Bingwen observed that the other party's cultivation level was lower than his own, yet he was able to hide behind him for a long time. He guessed that the other party had some kind of magical treasure that could conceal his aura. Looking at his clothes, he saw a golden brocade robe and various magical treasures everywhere he looked. He was obviously a rich family's child who was out playing.

"Tsk tsk tsk, this outfit, and no high-ranking guards with him, is he telling others to rob him? He doesn't seem very bright at all." Yu Bingwen frowned and began to think.

Brother, please save me!

Yu Bingwen saw a somewhat plump boy with a chubby baby face, a pale complexion, and dark eyes filled with fear rushing towards him.

No sooner said than done, Yu Bingwen dodged in a flash, and the boys fell to the ground, sprawled out on their backs, lying motionless.

Yu Bingwen thought to himself, "Why would he pounce on a stranger the moment he sees him? Who knows if he's in danger? But why isn't he moving? He couldn't have fallen to his death in such a short time. Is this... a staged accident?"

Regardless, Yu Bingwen stood to the side, keeping a close eye on Hao Jujin lying on the ground to prevent him from launching a sneak attack, before slowly speaking.

"Fellow Daoist, we have just met, and you have already shown me such great courtesy. I am truly unworthy of it! However, fellow Daoist, was it not somewhat inappropriate for you to eavesdrop on others' conversation?"

"Brother, couldn't you have waited until you caught me before asking these questions? And why didn't you even help me up? Don't people from your sect have any compassion? With my cultivation level, how could I possibly fight you?"

The sound came from the soil, which showed how heavy the person was.

Yu Bingwen raised an eyebrow. He's not dead yet!

"It's not that I don't want to catch you, but look at yourself, you're already stuck in the mud, I'm afraid I can't catch you."

As Yu Bingwen spoke, he helped him up. He could tell that this was a rich young master who wasn't very bright. He probably got separated from his family and was wandering around. He just happened to be here and planned to be a bystander, but he accidentally exposed himself!

“Brother Li, how can you say that? I’m just easygoing and carefree. My mother says that cute boys are always lucky,” Hao Jujin complained.

Yu Bingwen genuinely didn't expect anyone to praise him like that in front of a stranger. He didn't understand, but he expressed his respect.

"Who are you? What are you doing near the entrance to this secret realm? How long have you been watching this place?"

Yu Bingwen immediately launched into a barrage of three deadly questions, but Hao Juji still managed to answer them.

"Greetings, Brother Li! My surname is Hao, and my given name is Juji. I am from Lingyun." Hao Juji said as he bowed, displaying impeccable manners.

They kept calling each other "Brother Li," making anyone who didn't know them think they were very close. Who would have thought this was their first meeting?

Yu Bingwen assumed the younger brother was cheerful and a bit cocky, so he didn't pay much attention and returned the greeting.

However, Yu Bingwen found his name a little strange.

Yu Bingwen thought to himself, "What a strange name, 'super spirit,' isn't that for spirit beasts, spirit plants, or demons? He doesn't seem to be one! His aura is human, so isn't it something else? Oh well, I'll ask him!"

Yu Bingwen had a gentle expression and his facial expressions were perfectly controlled. No one knew that he was internally complaining. He asked in a gentle voice.

"I wonder which characters they are?"

“Oh, it’s Red Ear—Hao, the ‘Ju’ in ‘gathering’ and the ‘Jin’ in ‘gold’,” Hao Jujin replied.

Upon hearing the name, Yu Bingwen thought to himself, "Hao Jujin—'Good at gathering gold,' this name...is quite interesting!"

"Hao Jujin!!!" Yu Bingwen's gentle smile froze on his face as he repeated it again.

"Mmm!!!" Hao Juji nodded heavily in agreement.

Yu Bingwen took a breath and jokingly asked, "You don't have an older brother named Hao Youqian, do you?"

Hao Jujin stared wide-eyed in surprise, then said something that stunned Yu Bingwen.

"Brother Li, how did you know? Is your sect some kind of fortune teller, like the Tianji Sect? Or are you a disciple of the Tianji Sect? You even know my brother's name is Hao Youqian."

Hao Juji's eyes were sparkling, probably because he thought Yu Bingwen was too amazing.

Yu Bingwen almost lost his smile, and could only force himself to agree.

"What a wonderful name! Your father certainly knows how to choose names."

"Haha, Brother Li, you're mistaken. My grandfather named this name. He's the one with a talent for naming things," Hao Jujin explained with a smile.

Yu Bingwen's expression stiffened. He thought to himself, "I was just being polite, why is he taking it so seriously? And why is he getting so arrogant? Wait, his brother's name is Hao Youqian, and his name is Hao Jujin. His father's name is probably......"

Sure enough, the next sentence confirmed Yu Bingwen's guess.

"My grandpa named my dad Hao Fu! What do you think, Brother Li?" the chubby boy said proudly.

Yu Bingwen was completely stunned.

"So rich, so wealthy, so good at accumulating gold, is this just another way of flaunting wealth? Have I been in the sect for too long and fallen behind the times? Also, I thought my fifth uncle was already a money-grubber, but this family has challenged my understanding once again. They're all more outrageous than the last!"
