With the dust settled in the imperial court, those treacherous officials who had plotted to overthrow the dynasty were all rounded up, and the capital city returned to its superficial tranquility. Zhang Peng walked out of the palace, sunlight streaming down his face, but he felt no relief. The situation at the border remained as taut as a bowstring, ready to snap at any moment, and his heart yearned to return home.

Upon returning to his residence, Zhang Peng immediately began preparations for his return journey. As soon as he stepped across the threshold, he saw Li Ming pacing anxiously back and forth.

"General, you're finally back!" Li Ming hurried forward. "I've prepared the horses and luggage as you instructed. When shall we set off?"

Zhang Peng looked at Li Ming and nodded slightly: "There's no time to lose, let's set off today."

Just then, a soldier rushed in, holding a secret letter: "General, we have just received an urgent report from the border!"
