Chapter 52 "Old Friends"
“Protoss ship, this is Jim Raynor.” Raynor stood on the bridge, looking at the scene before him that did not match any Protoss bridge in his memory, and a sense of vigilance and wariness rose in his heart.
Just then, a figure slowly walked forward. Renault looked closely and saw that the other person was wearing a set of silver and gold armor that exuded a luxurious aura, with a double-layered hollow oval psionic amplifier quietly floating behind him.
“Artanis! It’s good to see you, man.” Renault quickly lowered his guard; he knew his old friend well.
Artanis replied, "Renault, was that one of your warships? It looked... not very friendly."
Archbishop Darram struggled to find an appropriate word from his relatively young (for the Protoss) experience to describe the situation.
"That's the fleet of the Mobius Foundation, or rather, the servants of the God of Darkness."
"Reports say they are attacking various planets of the Empire everywhere, and it seems that the Hybrids are leading them. Strangely, we have not found the Hybrids on either the Sky Shield or on the surface of Korhal."
Renault answered Artanis rather easily, knowing that his old friend wouldn't stand idly by unless something important happened.
“The God of Darkness! His clutches seem to be wreaking havoc throughout the sector!” Artanis lowered his head in thought, his eyes, which shone with blue psionic energy, darting around uneasily.
Then he looked up at Renault and asked, "Renault, is there anything we can do to help you?"
Raynor had been waiting for these words. Having fought alongside the Protoss, he was extremely envious of these warriors who could charge forward under the fire of siege tanks.
At this moment, time was of the essence and there was no time to waste. He quickly drew up the grim situation that Sky Shield was currently facing and explained to Artanis in detail: "They have breached our defense platform—Sky Shield, and they have destroyed Sky Shield's atmospheric stabilization device."
"It is falling, and if it falls on Khar, the whole of Augustegrad will be destroyed."
Upon hearing Raynor's words, Artanis understood Raynor's request and replied firmly, "We will not allow such a thing to happen, Commander."
He ordered the bridge crews: "Attack their fleet. Don't let them launch an attack."
“Just like before, brother… just like before.” Raynor understood that the Protoss would step in to help them.
On both sides' radars, the 75-kilometer-long golden behemoth—the Spear of Adun—changed its course and flew toward the Imperial fleet.
The Imperial fleet dispersed, and once the Spear of Adun was in position, they circled around it like stars around the moon.
The thin psionic shield of the Spear of Adun was an impenetrable wall of sighs for the Morbius Foundation fleet; neither fusion missiles nor salvos of Yamato cannons could create even the slightest ripples on its shield.
The Imperial fleet had never fought such a comfortable battle; they only needed to circle around the Spear of Adun and fire at the Morbius Foundation fleet within its shield range.
In fact, as long as the attack can exceed the shield replenishment rate of the Spear of Adun, it can launch an attack on the warships protected by it.
Unfortunately, the Spear of Adun, as the only remaining one of the Protoss's three Arkships, was itself an extremely terrifying existence.
It is powered by an artificial star and can run for hundreds of centuries even without any replenishment!
Even with the Mobius Foundation fleet's best efforts, they could not truly shake the Spear of Adun, which was backed by a star.
Raynor visibly breathed a sigh of relief after the Spear of Adun joined the battle; the Morbius Foundation was now completely finished.
After completing the deployment, Artanis solemnly said to Raynor, "It seems fate has brought us together once again, Jim Raynor."
“I think it’s just luck,” Renault joked.
“Luck is purely a concept in human culture,” Artanis replied seriously. “We Protoss do not believe in coincidences, nor in any unseen hand orchestrating everything.”
"No matter who made the arrangements, the result is the same... So, what brings you here, Artanis?" After failing to get anywhere by teasing Artanis, Renault gave up and decided to ask Artanis about his purpose in coming here.
“Zeratul believes that the artifact you possess... he calls the Keystone... can help me find Xel'Naga.”
Hearing that there was an old friend, Renault's brow twitched, and he tried to find the Dark Templar who always stayed in the darkness on the bridge: "Where is the Zeratul?"
“The Dark High Priest… sacrificed himself in Aiur.” Artanis’s voice was tinged with grief. “His last wish was for me to continue his mission and find a way to stop the Dark God—Amon.”
“Damn it… I knew his adventures could only end in one way.” Renault sighed. “For his foolish prophecy, I went through fire and water, and many brothers died because of it.”
“If he sent you, then take the artifact. Right now, we still need to save this planet.” Raynor had no time to mourn his Protoss friend; time was of the essence.
“We will save it.” Artanis knew what to do now.
"We have now established an advance base on the central platform of Sky Shield. The atmospheric stabilization device here is the only one we have repaired, but it can only delay the crash of Sky Shield by a dozen minutes."
“If your troops can help our offensive forces take down the Morbius Foundation forces that are attacking the atmospheric stabilization device, my brothers will be able to repair the Sky Shield.”
Following Raynor's words, Artanis brought up the projection of the Sky Shield and located Raynor's forward base.
He turned to Renault and said, "My troops will be here soon."
"See you at Sky Shield, buddy."
After saying that, Raynor hung up the communication and ordered the busy Imperial troops, "Clear an area; our Protoss allies will be here soon."
"Aliens?" El, who was inspecting the machines with the Imperial engineers, poked his head out.
“Yes, aliens.” Renault patted Al’s little head.
The chat group had just experienced a high-intensity battle, and now only Kilsager was still on the front line, while the other mechs had suffered various degrees of damage.
Apart from Raynor's Warlord-class Titan, all the other mechs were withdrawn from the front lines for repairs.
"Hey! Can I take a sample?!" Azure Star was also very interested in aliens.
“You can challenge one of them to a duel after the battle. If you win, you might even be awarded an honorary title.” Renault glanced at the incredibly long katana on Azure Star’s back.
Chen Huijie didn't speak, but her tail revealed her curiosity.
Tina fought alongside Kirsaji on the front lines, using her Tek sniper rifle to pick off high-threat targets.
