Chapter 155 Peturabo's Contingency Plan

"Is this your choice, Horus!" Perturabo, clad in armor and exuding an imposing aura, glared at Horus, who was engulfed in golden flames, and questioned him in a booming voice: "What is there left in this corrupt empire that you are willing to fight for?"

When confronted with Peturab's questioning, Horus simply uttered two words: "The people."

However, this nonchalant answer struck Peturabo like a hammer blow.

“How utterly ridiculous!” Perturabo scoffed, his face full of disdain. “Those mortals are greedy, weak, and incompetent; they can’t even be fit to be slaves!”

Perturab couldn't understand why his suddenly returned brother had become so irrational; he felt that Horus had been driven mad by some crazy idea.

“But this is exactly what the Emperor desires, my brother.” Horus looked directly into Perturabo’s eyes without flinching and said slowly, “Moreover, in that distant Golden Age, there were no such things as Primarchs as we are.”

Despite the empire's current state of discontent, the apparent loss of reason, and the rampant spread of ignorance and blind faith, the people persevere in this dark age, groping their way forward with unwavering determination.

Hearing this, Peturabo couldn't help but sneer: "Hmph, so what if that's the case? How long can these useless mortals drag a long-dead, rotting corpse forward?"

Having said that, he suddenly raised the gleaming weapon in his hand and pointed it at Horus, as if he were about to launch a fatal blow at any moment.

At the same time, Horus's left hand moved slightly, and a dazzling golden flame instantly ignited.

Immediately afterwards, the Worldbreaker, burning with golden flames, silently appeared in his hand. The scorching flames distorted and warped the surrounding air.

“You will witness all of this with your own eyes eventually, Perturabo.” Horus gripped the Worldbreaker tightly, his eyes unwavering. “No one can easily break the indomitable spirit of humanity.”

In a solemn atmosphere, the Iron Warrior Legion and the loyalists of the Shadowmoon Wolves formed a huge circle, watching the battle unfold with bated breath.

Two figures rushed towards each other like lightning, and collided violently with a deafening roar!

These two Primarchs were incredibly fast; even the Astartes warriors with their superhuman vision could hardly see their movements.

At the moment of his first encounter with Horus, Peturabo felt a strange sensation.

Although Horus's martial arts skills remained superb and showed no signs of decline, for some reason, Perturabo could clearly sense that his opponent's strength seemed to be less than before.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, Perturabo displayed his might, each move powerful and heavy, attacking Horus like a storm.

Horus, on the other hand, could only struggle to hold on, gradually being suppressed by Peturabo.

"Haha, it seems the False Emperor can't help you regain your original strength at all!" Perturabo laughed wildly, swinging his weapon sharply, sending out a fierce gust of wind that struck Horus heavily.

Horus grunted and took a few steps back before he could barely regain his footing.

"Are you trying so hard to hold me back to cover the actions of the Imperial Guard at Blackrock Fortress?" Perturab straightened up, a mocking smile on his lips, and said coldly, "Don't think I don't know what you're up to. But unfortunately, you've underestimated me."

Upon hearing this, Horus frowned, pondering to himself: Could there be other Primarchs involved in this operation against Blackrock Fortress?

However, before he could think it through, Perturabo spoke up again: "Of course not our brothers. Our real target this time has always been the Eternal Chosen One. How can we force her out without putting some pressure on her?"

"Yes, I saw Him. I must say, you guys really went all out to deal with me."

Peturabo suddenly heard Kirsajarn's voice and immediately became alert.

"I didn't think I would attract His true form here, but now that He has revealed Him, it's time for me to join the fray."

When Kirserker appeared on the Steel Blood with Bella, his blue eyes seemed to see right through Perturabo.

“There will always be someone trying to scheme under the eyes of the treacherous… Qingbao Tianzun.” Killer was speechless. Why not just lay out the stakes directly instead of playing dirty tricks on her, the chosen one of the T, K, and E families?

Perturabo sized up Kirsar; if it weren't for that blue Tzeentch Eye, he wouldn't have believed that the other was the Eternal Chosen.

“Magnus, you can help Horus beat this guy up, right?” Kirsaj asked, looking at Magnus who was walking out of the psionic portal.

“Of course, no problem.” Magnus in his complete form smiled at Kirsage. He had retrieved all the fragments, and Kirsage had given him new eyes. He felt wonderful now.

“I’ve just retrieved all the fragments. I think you wouldn’t mind letting me practice, Peturabo.”

On the Eternal Will, massive demonic engines appeared in Blackrock Fortress, where the Lord of the Soul Forge had deployed his legions.

The wide passageways within Blackrock Fortress became an ideal killing ground for the Daemon Engines, and even the Primarchs had to expend considerable effort to deal with them.

Kolac's face was grim. If it weren't for the several heavy hammer demons rushing over, he would have already ripped Luo Jia's head off.

"All personnel, retreat." Alpharis gave the order to the loyalists at Blackrock Fortress.

The immediate priority is to preserve the Empire's remaining boarding forces, as the number of demonic engines ravaging Blackrock Fortress already exceeds the number of surviving boarding troops.

A massive number of Hammer Demons and Slaughterers were slaughtering Imperial soldiers who lacked heavy weapons, while Forge Demons devoured various metals while spewing cannon fire at the Imperial forces.

Chaos Titans have appeared in some of the more open passageways, their blasphemous demonic engines venting their fury with abandon. No one can escape unscathed from the barrage of these blasphemous creations.

In some places, Imperial forces encountered the Skull Lords, demonic engines that projected hellfire from the upper body of a gigantic warrior and the lower body of a tank track, burning countless Imperial soldiers alive in boiling lava.

Its massive axe swung continuously, reaping heads from any that it could see, whether from the Chaos or Imperial soldiers.

“The shield of Blackrock Keep is still intact, and we cannot teleport you.” Galton looked at the horrific scene at Blackrock Keep, his teeth clenched until they bled. This should not be their fate.

"Prepare to teleport. Someone will break through the Blackrock Fortress's shield for us." Alpharis's calm voice came through the communicator.

As soon as he finished speaking, both the Imperial and Chaos warships spotted a massive behemoth appearing on the battlefield—Kirsaj's Abyss Lord, the Omen Ark.

At its narrow bow, a crimson light suddenly shone, revealing that this Ominous Ark was also equipped with a Doomsday Cannon! Even if it wasn't as powerful as the Planet Killer, it was still incredibly formidable.

A crimson beam of light erupted forth, and the Faith Law and the Abyss-class Titan warship of the Word Bearer were within its attack range!

The beam of light mercilessly destroyed the two Titan-class warships that could have swayed the course of the battle. Then, guided by the psionic ritual, the beam of light drew a curve in the void and rushed toward the Eternal Will Blackrock Fortress!

Under everyone's watchful eyes, the pillar of light, a symbol of destruction, easily overloaded the shield of Blackrock Fortress and erased its three sharp points.

"Teleport to evacuate now," Kirsaj's voice rang out on the Imperial communications channel.
