Colorful years

Chapter 30 Adorable

An even greater challenge is quietly awaiting Congcong and his father.

All of this can be traced back to the unexpected encounter between Congcong and Chen Chunong.

During the Four Cleanups Movement, conducting door-to-door visits and heart-to-heart talks was undoubtedly a crucial part of it.

On that sunny afternoon, Chen Chunong, the head of the work group, decided to personally visit Zhang Zhong's home.

The moment Chen Chunong stepped into the house, it seemed as if even time itself was captivated by her elegant demeanor, slowing its pace.

She wore a light blue dress, the hem swaying gently with her light steps, like lake water rippling in a breeze. A thin white belt was cleverly tied around her waist, making her figure appear even more slender and graceful.

Her hair was soft and flowing over her shoulders, as smooth and delicate as black silk, with a few strands playfully falling on either side of her face, adding to her gentle and lively appearance.

Her face was as white as jade, her features exquisite and beautiful. Beneath her arched eyebrows, a pair of bright eyes shone like the most dazzling stars in the night sky, radiating a gentle and kind light.

She wore a pair of white high heels, each step producing a crisp and rhythmic sound, as if proclaiming her elegance and confidence to the world.

She carried a small white handbag, its metal embellishments gleaming in the sunlight, adding to its elegance and sophistication.

Just then, Congcong rushed out of the house like a freed pony, ready to go out and play.

He was running forward with complete focus, not noticing Chen Chunong approaching from the front. A loud "bang" followed as the two collided.

Congcong stumbled and nearly fell to the ground. Chen Chunong was also caught off guard by the sudden impact, but she quickly regained her balance.

She frowned slightly, a hint of surprise flashing in her eyes, but quickly regained her composure, a forgiving smile appearing on her lips.

"Little friend, are you alright?" Chen Chunong asked with concern, her voice soft and sweet, like a gentle spring breeze.

Congcong blushed, scratched his head sheepishly, and said in a low voice, "I'm sorry, Auntie, I was in such a hurry to go out and play."

Chen Chunong gently patted Congcong's head and said tenderly, "Don't be so reckless next time, be careful not to get hurt."

Congcong nodded, then ran off like a little rabbit, leaving Chen Chunong standing there, shaking her head helplessly, but still with that warm smile on her lips.

After running away, Congcong quickly realized that his recklessness might have displeased Chen Chunong, and a feeling of regret welled up in his heart.

He stopped in his tracks, his little mind racing as he tried to figure out how to resolve the awkward situation.

Suddenly, Congcong's eyes lit up. He turned around and ran quickly into the house, ready to resolve the little misunderstanding that had just occurred with Chen Chunong.

A moment later, Congcong ran up to Chen Chunong, looked up, her eyes sparkling, and said sincerely, "Auntie, you look so beautiful today! You're like a fairy who stepped out of a painting."

When Chen Chunong heard Congcong's sudden praise, she was first taken aback, then her face flushed, and the corners of her mouth turned up slightly, revealing a surprised smile.

She crouched down to look Congcong in the eye, her eyes full of tenderness and love. "Little boy, you have such a sweet tongue."

Congcong continued, "Auntie, your dress is so beautiful! It goes perfectly with your hair. And your shoes are so sparkly; they must have been specially made for you."

Chen Chunong laughed heartily at Congcong's words, her eyes filled with joy and satisfaction.

Although the child looks very young, he is so well-behaved and sensible that he is truly lovable.

She gently took Congcong's hand and said softly, "Thank you for your praise, little one. You're so good at talking, I'm almost embarrassed."

Congcong shook his head seriously and said solemnly, "Auntie, I'm telling you the truth."

Chen Chunong stood up, touched Congcong's cheek, and said with a smile, "Then Auntie will forgive your recklessness just now. Go play now." Congcong laughed happily and skipped away.

As Chen Chunong watched Congcong's departing figure, a warm and happy smile remained on her face.

She thought to herself, "This child may be a bit reckless, but he is so clever, well-behaved, sensible, sincere and lovely that it's impossible for me to be angry with him."

Chen Chunong became curious and interested in Congcong, and decided to find a suitable opportunity to get to know this smart and cute little boy better.

A few days later, Chen Chunong ran into Congcong again in the courtyard.

She walked up with a smile and asked kindly, "Little friend, what's your name?"

Congcong blinked her bright eyes and answered confidently, "Auntie, my name is Congcong."

Chen Chunong nodded, then asked, "How old is Congcong this year?"

Congcong straightened her little chest and said in a clear and melodious voice, "Auntie, I'm three years old this year!"

"Child, you're only three years old? So young?" Chen Chunong's face showed surprise.

Seeing Chen Chunong's surprised expression, Congcong patted his little chest and said confidently, "Auntie, of course I'm only three years old! I'm not kidding! Everyone in the village knows that."

Looking at Congcong's confident and adorable appearance, Chen Chunong couldn't help but praise, "Congcong is really amazing! He's so young but has such great ambitions and quick wit. With your intelligence and cleverness, you're sure to have a bright future!"
