Chapter 432 Qiao Nansheng's Pursuit

Zhang Binbin's words were truly unpleasant to listen to. Song Lingge thought she could hold out until she took him home, but...

Sure enough, her patience was limited, and Zhang Binbin had already run out.

Song Lingge could see Zhang Binbin cursing in the rearview mirror. After thinking for a moment, she decided to turn back.

"Song Lingge, are you sick in the head? Leaving me here like this..." Zhang Binbin complained to Song Lingge as he opened the car door to get in.

That's just how women are; they can be quite temperamental.

However, he struggled for a while but couldn't open the car door. Song Lingge threw two ten-yuan bills out the window and drove away again.

"You—" Song Lingge couldn't hear what Zhang Binbin said next.

This time, there will be no more reversing or backing up.

Without Zhang Binbin chattering beside her, Song Lingge felt the air in the car was much fresher.

Who does he think he is? After commenting, she even went on to comment on Qiao Nansheng. I'm speechless.

Speaking of Qiao Nansheng, Song Lingge thought of the lie she had told and realized she had to hurry home.

She couldn't explain why, but now she felt guilty when she lied to Qiao Nansheng. She had lied so many times, and Qiao Nansheng had never held it against her, only asking that she stop lying to him. Yet she couldn't even do that.

As if things weren't bad enough, Song Lingge got stuck in rush hour traffic on her way back to the city, and it was almost 8 p.m. when she finally got home.

Thank goodness, Qiao Nansheng has a dinner party tonight, so he won't be back so early. Song Lingge thought to herself, but still kept running into the house.

"You're back! Why are you so late? Have you eaten yet?" Lin Xiuzhi asked as she watched TV in the living room.

"No, are there any leftovers?" Song Lingge asked as she changed her shoes.

"Yes, yes, yes. Where have you been, child? Your phone is off too." Lin Xiuzhi walked over.

"Is it off? It's probably out of battery. I didn't even notice." Song Lingge took her phone out of her bag, and sure enough, it was out of battery. No wonder it was so quiet the whole way.

"You're always so careless. Go take a break, I'll heat up some food for you." Lin Xiuzhi walked towards the kitchen.

Song Lingge stopped her: "No need, you go watch TV, I can manage by myself."

"Sure, sure, let's go see who's here. I'll go heat up your food." Lin Xiuzhi's eyes drifted towards the tea room.

"Us? Who else is there?"

"Nansheng said you weren't feeling well today, so she packed a lot of your favorite foods and brought them over. I tried calling you, but your phone was off, so we ate first. But Nansheng hasn't eaten yet; she's waiting for you. She's playing chess with your grandpa now!"

Song Lingge's mind went blank, and she stood there stunned.

Lin Xiuzhi slapped her bottom: "What are you thinking about? Go on!"

Song Lingge moved mechanically toward the tea room. Why was Qiao Nansheng here so early?

Judging from Lin Xiuzhi's words, he probably didn't have dinner with his colleagues and just brought back takeout to keep her company. But...

"Lingge is back?" Zhao Zhangguo could see Song Lingge directly from his position. He swiped the chessboard and said, "Oh dear, I went to see her and didn't pay attention to my strength."

This old rascal looks like he's going to lose again and is starting to cheat.

Qiao Nansheng smiled slightly, not bothering to point it out. Winning or losing wasn't important anyway; as long as they were happy, that was enough.

"Grandpa, Nansheng, what brings you here? Didn't you say you were having dinner with your colleagues tonight?" Song Lingge's voice sounded slightly guilty.

"Are you hungry? Eat first, I'll go help Grandma Lin." Qiao Nansheng patted Song Lingge's shoulder, as gentle as ever.

"Oh, Nansheng, you don't need to help. Just heat it up a little. You can serve the rice!" Lin Xiuzhi's words were filled with laughter as she spoke to Qiao Nansheng.

Zhao Zhangguo tidied up the chessboard and found Song Lingge standing motionless with a frown on her face.

He approached her: "What happened? Why do you look like this?"

Song Lingge shook her head and forced a smile: "It's nothing, I'm just a little tired. How long has Nansheng been here?"

Zhao Zhangguo recalled for a moment: "He's been here for quite a while. He called us this afternoon and told us not to cook, that he would bring food over for dinner."

Song Lingge sighed inwardly; it seemed she had guessed correctly.

Zhao Zhangguo added, "You have to treat her well. The dishes Nansheng packed are basically divided into two portions: one is for the two of us old folks, and the other is all your favorites."

Qiao Nansheng was surprisingly meticulous.

Song Lingge felt even more guilty.

"Lingge, what are you still standing there for? Go wash your hands and eat!" Lin Xiuzhi shouted as she brought out the dishes.

Song Lingge glanced towards the restaurant, where Qiao Nansheng was helping to set the table.

"Oh well, what's coming will come eventually," Song Lingge thought, quickly washing her hands and wiping her face to clear her head.

The dishes on the table were indeed all her favorites, and they were all untouched, simply reheated.

There were only two sets of bowls and chopsticks on the table; Lin Xiuzhi and Zhao Zhangguo had already gone back to the living room to watch TV.

Qiao Nansheng sat at the dining table waiting for her.

"You must be starving too! Don't wait for me! Eat up!" Song Lingge said with a smile.

Qiao Nansheng picked up a piece of pork rib for her first: "I heard that this pork rib is cooked with dried plums, which is especially appetizing."

Song Lingge also put a piece on Qiao Nansheng's plate, saying in a fawning manner, "You eat too."

Qiao Nansheng didn't seem angry. He ate the ribs and then served Song Lingge some other dishes.

Song Lingge was a little confused, but she was really hungry since she hadn't eaten so late. So she quickly started eating heartily, putting her worries behind her.

Seeing that she was enjoying her meal, Qiao Nansheng also ate some with her.

Zhao Zhangguo and Lin Xiuzhi would occasionally peek over, their faces showing satisfied smiles. Song Lingge and Qiao Nansheng really did look like a newlywed couple, their interactions filled with everyday warmth.

"I'm so full!" Song Lingge patted her stomach and leaned back in her chair, expressing her satisfaction.

Qiao Nansheng handed her a tissue and said jokingly, "If I can make someone who has no appetite eat so heartily, I can consider myself to have accomplished something great."

It's coming, it's coming. What's meant to happen will happen eventually; there's no escaping it.

Qiao Nansheng's pursuit, though late, has finally come.

Song Lingge sat up straight, obediently took the tissue, and vigorously wiped her mouth, thinking about how to deal with him.

"I'm late today. I'll go wash the dishes. You go watch TV with Grandma and Grandpa!" Song Lingge said ingratiatingly.

Under the threat of Lin Xiuzhi's gaze and words, Zhao Zhangguo had already walked over.

"You've eaten so much and it's so late, go for a walk with Nansheng to digest your food. I'll take care of the dishes."

As Zhao Zhangguo spoke, he snatched the bowl from Song Ling's hand.

You are such a good grandfather to me! Song Lingge had no way to express her bitterness. When she wanted Zhao Zhangguo's help, he would take advantage of his age and stay on the sidelines. But when she didn't want his help, he would rush in at lightning speed.

While she was still in a daze, her wrist was suddenly grabbed.

"Grandpa Zhao, Grandma Lin, let's go for a walk. Thank you for your help," Qiao Nansheng said with a smile.

"It's not hard work, you guys go ahead! It's still early, no need to come back too soon."

Song Lingge: "..."
