The monster was killed, and the surrounding wolf pack fled. The encounter ended in victory for Zuli and his companions.

"Ivan, how are you?" Su Li reached out her hand to Ivan, who was sitting on the ground.

"I, I..." Ivan blushed and didn't dare to look at anyone. He felt ashamed of his behavior.

“It’s nothing, you were just under the influence of a skill.” Su Li naturally pulled Ivan up. “It’s a skill that can instill fear in the enemy. You took all the damage head-on, while I only took a little bit.”

This isn't Su Li trying to comfort anyone; it's simply the truth. This kind of fear-based ability requires either an extremely strong will and conscious resistance, or exceptionally high mental resilience.

Ivan, who suddenly ate it and whose resistance was not strong enough, was so vulnerable.

"What kind of monster is this? Do you know Su Li?" Sophia asked, looking at the werewolf whose head had been blown off.

"I don't recognize it. There are a few similar ones in the encyclopedia, but those use elements. There's a werewolf that can feel fear, which is also undead, and its body is covered in rotten flesh. This thing has shiny black fur, which doesn't seem like it's undead."

As they were talking, the dead werewolf turned into a pool of black water and merged into the ground.

“Okay, it’s starting to feel a bit like the undead. But I really don’t know.” Su Li sighed. “The author of the encyclopedia said there are many monsters he didn’t record, and this might be one of them.”

“The werewolves have come out…” Ivan recalled the werewolf’s attack. “Such sharp claws, my shield is almost broken.”

Su Li glanced at Ivan's shield, which she had acquired a long time ago. It was just ordinary thin iron sheet and leather-wrapped wood, not very effective against monsters. It had been damaged when used to withstand wind bullets, and now the iron sheet was torn apart. It was practically unusable.

"We need to find a way to get Ivan a shield. I wonder if the police station has any riot shields."

Su Li stood up. "What a disappointment, not even a single loot. A complete loss. How can there be such disgusting monsters? The undead are all so stingy. Oh well, I'll get some wolf pelts... Wait, what about the wolves we just killed?"

“The water, which had also turned black, disappeared,” Sofia added.

Su Li's expression turned serious. "Isn't turning into black water a unique ability of that werewolf? This characteristic... hmm, I have an idea, I have five options. But I'm not sure yet. I won't teach you how to deal with it for now. If the approach is wrong, it could be risky."

"Brother Su, there are no experience points either," Ivan added, closing his own panel.

“Of course, this thing should be some kind of derivative or polymer,” Su Li nodded. “In short, killing this thing is a complete loss. Try to avoid it.”

"I'm afraid that won't work." Sophia raised her bow again. "Something's coming!"

"Which way?"

"The direction we came from."

"Then let's run! Head to the school! These derivatives are best at attrition warfare. Only an idiot would trade their lives for their mana."

Su Li said decisively.

With Ivan at the forefront, the three charged toward the school as shown on the map.

Once they started running, they realized there were monsters ahead of them as well.

Zurich wanted to call these monsters "fungus people".

These monsters were humanoid, with fully blooming mushrooms on their heads, making them look extremely disgusting. Their bodies were also covered in yellow spores, forming something resembling armor.

“This thing is a bit disgusting.” Su Li cleaved the mushroom-man’s head in two with a single sword stroke, then said to Ivan, “Be careful, it’s much easier to cut along the mushroom’s grain.”

"Don't get bitten. This thing looks a bit like a zombie. I'm afraid it's contagious."

"I understand!" Ivan said quickly.

The group sped up and started running. They had already undergone extensive training and were several times stronger than ordinary people. When they ran at full speed, the group of fungal people couldn't catch up at all.

"This way! We've arrived at the university!" Sofia shouted to the others. "I'll go first!"

Sofia leaped onto the concrete wall of the university and stood there to observe her landing point.

Fortunately, no monsters were seen at the school.

Then Ivan jumped over. Next was Zuli, who cut down a few more fungal people before finally jumping over the wall.

Only a group of mushroom people remained, taking pictures on the wall.

The surroundings were shrouded in fog, and the three of them didn't have a map of the campus, so they could only run in one direction.

Before long, they saw a huge building. There seemed to be firelight inside the building.

Upon reaching the entrance of this massive building, one can see some defensive fortifications and traces of battle. The stairs are covered in dried blood.

The perceptive Sophia whispered, "Someone is watching us."

After saying that, he slung the bow over his shoulder and took out his rifle. There might be survivors here, and a gun is much more intimidating than a bow and arrow.

"Hmm." Su Li pointed to her temple. "It's throbbing a little here."

“Me too. They have guns?” Ivan said. “My shield can stop two rifle bullets.”

These three people ate snake soup for a long time, and their perception attributes improved rapidly.

"That should be about right. Remember, before you fire, the killing intent will solidify, and the stinging sensation will intensify instantly." Su Li whispered the knowledge she had learned from her mentor, then raised her hand. "We meant no harm. We came out to look for supplies, but the fog suddenly rose, and we got lost in it."

"We just wanted to ask for directions. If we have offended you, we will leave immediately."

"You said you came from the fog," a muffled voice came from inside. "You didn't encounter any monsters?"

“We encountered them, a pack of wolves. We killed them all with force,” Su Li said, raising his hand. “After these monsters died, they turned into black water. This weather is strange; we must have encountered something unusual.”

"Let them in," an elderly voice said.

“Alright, Professor,” the muffled voice continued.

The door opened a crack, and the three of them exchanged glances before deciding to go in.

They didn't have a map of the campus; on the map in the newsstand, this area was a large square with the university's name written on it.

They were just wandering around in the fog, who knows where they ended up? They need help from someone familiar with the area. Otherwise, they'll really get lost in this enormous school.

After Su Li and the other two went inside, they found a large group of people surrounding them.

Su Li glanced over and saw that the group was carrying several weapons, all of them long-handled guns. However, the group was relatively friendly and didn't point their guns at her.

[I feel like my luck has dropped when I'm with this group of people.] Su Li made this joke to herself, a joke only she knew.

This is a large hall that connects the first and second floors. Next to the railing on the second floor, there are several people holding muskets.

The group consisted mostly of young people, with over 30 people present. It's unclear if there were any others. The leaders were several older people.

Su Li noticed that the group of people did not look well; without exception, they all had heavy dark circles under their eyes.

"Hello," Su Li greeted first. "We mean no harm, we just want to ask for directions."

Zuli tried her best to appear as harmless as possible.

“Hello, young man. You can call me Principal Felton.” An older man stepped forward and said, “Everyone is quite nervous because of the monster. We’re also afraid you might be some new monster, but to my opinion, you don’t seem like one.”

"Warriors, guards, gunners, and monsters can't just conjure up a tabletop role-playing team, right?"

The principal made a little joke. Su Li smiled along.

Seeing that Su Li wasn't in the mood for jokes, the principal's smile faded. Pointing to a sign nearby, he said, "It seems you're not in the mood for jokes. Alright then, there's a map of the school over there. You can take a look. After you've looked at it, we can talk about other things."

Suli gestured for Ivan to protect Sophia, then went over to check. He was a tough, resilient warrior. If anything happened, Ivan could shield Sophia, and she could easily take down those armed guys in seconds.

The remaining spearmen, if not in formation, could be dealt with by Zuli alone.

Su Li walked up to the map and looked at the campus map.

They had indeed gone astray. They had originally climbed over the western wall of the university to enter, and in their minds, they had run to the north side of the campus. But in reality, they had run to the northeast.
