Chapter 403 The Great Court Meeting (Part 2)

The Minister of War agreed casually, mainly because cannibals and kobolds were at the bottom of the orcish empire. Mobilizing them wouldn't require much effort, and they wouldn't resist much. The only problem was that the ogre tribes lived in the north of the empire, their habitat closer to the cold, icy plains.

It would take a considerable amount of time for these massive creatures to travel from the northern ice plains to the Dawn Forest in the south, even with a teleportation array. This is because they are not very intelligent; most ogres are intellectually challenged. Only the cannibalistic mages in the tribes possess some intelligence, but this isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Their tiny brains make them more prone to being inflexible and cunning than ordinary people, and they are fearless in battle.

Kobolds are a common race; they can survive as long as they have food and reproduce very quickly, making them natural cannon fodder. Their situation in the Empire is only slightly better than that of orc slaves; Samuro only valued them for their running speed.

The military minister and the home minister were arguing heatedly. After a while, the military minister stood up again and spoke to Kurt Elliott.

“Great King, because this mobilization requires a large amount of food, I think it will take thirty days for all personnel and supplies to arrive in Ontario.”

Kurt Elliott asked after a moment's thought.

"So it will take forty to forty-five days to actually reach the Dawn Forest?"

"Yes, Your Majesty! After all, the army moves slowly!"

"But that's too long! In such a long time, who knows how powerful the invaders from another world will become!"

The Minister of War was speechless under Kurt Elliott's questioning, and kept wiping away imaginary sweat! At this moment, the priest standing next to Kurt Elliott stepped forward.

"Your Majesty, I think we've misunderstood the situation! Our attack doesn't necessarily have to wait until the entire army arrives. We can send Lord Samuro first with the wyverns to Ontario. There, Lord Samuro can take the orc slaves provided by Ontario and set off for Dawn Forest. Once there, Lord Samuro can wait for the ogres to arrive while scouting our opponents."

"I think this is a good idea. I haven't truly faced any beings from another world yet! Going to check it out beforehand doesn't seem like a bad thing. However, I have one condition: I wonder if the High Priest could spare some of the Dark Blade troops for me. I need them to help me probe the strength of our opponents!"

After saying this, Samuro looked at the priest. Since the priest had made the suggestion, Samuro could not refuse his request.

“Dark Blade belongs to the Empire, not to me personally! As long as His Majesty agrees, I will send people! The Dark Blade Wind Group has been crippled, and the Fire Group has been completely wiped out. I can send you the Mountain Group and the Forest Group that I have on hand. I hope you won’t think it’s too little.”

After the priest finished speaking, he returned to his seat, and all the orc nobles in the palace awaited Kurt Elliott's decision.

Kurt Elliott rose from his throne and surveyed everyone standing below the steps.

"The opening of this interdimensional gate is both an opportunity and a crisis for the Empire. If we lose, the best outcome will be that we return to slavery. If we win, the strength of the orcs will take another giant leap forward! Now tell me, do you want to be the victors or the vanquished?"

"winner!"

"Orcs will never be slaves!"

"Kill these otherworldly humans!"

At this moment, regardless of what the orc nobles below were thinking, their only concern was expressing their loyalty to Kurt Elliot! The roars of the orcs echoed throughout the palace hall. After the orcs had roared for a while, Kurt Elliot finally pressed his hands down, satisfied, to signal everyone to be quiet!

"With Lord Samuro leading the army into the Dawn Forest this time, I am confident of a resounding victory! However, in addition to eliminating the outsiders in the Dawn Forest, we must also prepare for an invasion from another world. Therefore, besides preparing Lord Samuro's troops, you must also mobilize your forces!"

The orc nobles below the steps immediately became excited, their eyes shining. They had originally come to compete for command of the forces sent to conquer the Dawn Forest. They never expected to have the opportunity to conquer the other world, having long heard that the humans there were extremely wealthy and possessed vast amounts of crystals.

Immediately, orcs jumped out to pledge their loyalty.

"Great King, please give the order!"

"The Great King..."

Amidst the sycophantic praise, only the Minister of the Interior looked somewhat troubled. Providing provisions for such a large army was a major problem, and it was certainly up to him to solve it.

"Your Majesty, what are your plans?"

"I plan to send ten vanguard forces to explore the other world! I will send ten tribes, each leading an army to invade the other world through different spatial gates! I will send 500,000 orc slaves to each army. I will allow some weaker tribes to go to the other world as vassals. I will allow the vanguard forces to keep all their war spoils and not hand them over to the Empire!"

With a deafening roar, the palace erupted in chaos. Kurt Elliott had offered a condition that no tribe could refuse!

All supplies needed for the troops' expeditions were provided by the Empire, while the spoils of war belonged entirely to the respective tribes and were not subject to requisition. This was an incredible boon for the orc tribes, allowing them to feed their own tribes with the Empire's food and plunder their enemies with the Empire's resources. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and no one wanted to miss this chance to strengthen their tribe.

The biggest problem for them now was which ten tribes would lead the ten armies, and the entire hall instantly filled with tension. Everyone wanted to lead an army, and no one wanted to be commanded by someone else. So the nobles in the palace began arguing, their faces flushed, and neither side was willing to back down.

Finally, the priest stepped forward and proposed a solution. The method was simple: divide the ten armies into competing forces. All tribes would compete, and whoever invested more resources in a particular force would have more say. Weaker tribes could negotiate with the larger tribes, and their contributions could be factored into the larger tribes' share. The final distribution of the benefits would then be entirely up to them.

To be fair, today's grand assembly will end here. Samuro's troops will depart first, and the remaining ten troops will return tomorrow to decide which tribes will lead them. Samuro accepted the order and departed; it still had to receive its assigned wyvern and darkblade troops. Samuro was eager to have a showdown with the humans from the other world.

After quickly dealing with the otherworldly humans in the Dawn Forest, Samuro wanted to lead his army to the otherworld to see if there was an opportunity for him to break through.
