Huh? There's a magic school here.
Chapter 21 Diane's Home Visit
Diane finished her work for the day and returned home to enjoy a delicious dinner. Just as she was flipping through a fashion magazine, an uninvited guest snatched her corn salad. It was the same snow-white owl from before, and this time, it didn't stand on ceremony with Diane, flying directly onto the table and eating her dinner. Seeing Diane staring at it, the owl seemed a little embarrassed, stretching out its legs as if to indicate it should quickly take the letter away!
Diane chuckled and didn't scold the owl for stealing her dinner. Instead, she got up and got the owl a glass of water. Seeing this, the owl squinted and nuzzled Diane's hand before turning back to eat and drink. Diane then opened the letter.
Things were getting more and more interesting. Her last reply had actually received a response, and he even agreed to a home visit! This made Diane wonder about the letter's purpose. Could it really be that a suitor was planning to confess his feelings? But then she thought about it and it didn't seem likely; who would require a guardian to be present when confessing their love? Could these two letters really be from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry? She shook her head, deciding to find out on August 1st in a couple of days. She'd think about it then.
She wrote a simple note saying she would wait at home and tied it to the owl's leg. But she didn't release the owl immediately; instead, she held it affectionately in her arms for a while before letting the little creature go.
Meanwhile, Benhard, who lives in Nottinghamshire, is facing the same problem. He is also staring wide-eyed at the owl perched on the tree in front of his house. He noticed it because of the previous mail-delivery incident that left a deep impression on him, so he overreacted when he saw the owl again. Fortunately, this time the owl did not swoop down, but glided down from the tree to him.
When he opened the letter, he learned that the letter Joanna had asked him to write hadn't been lost, but had been taken away by an owl sometime during the night. Seeing the message requesting a home visit, he was a little confused, because he himself didn't quite believe it. But Joanna clearly didn't think so. He thought for a moment, went inside, wrote a reply, sent the owl away, and then called Joanna's house.
"Hi Joanna, it's me."
“Benhard, I was just about to call you. I have something to tell you.”
"Huh? What's the matter?"
"I just received a reply from the owls; they will be visiting my home on the afternoon of August 1st!"
"What? You received it too? Also on the afternoon of August 1st?"
"Yeah, how come you received it too?"
Yes, that's why I thought of calling you.
"What? You won't call me unless you get a reply?"
No, that's not what I meant.
"Alright, why didn't you tell me before that the letter you wrote was taken away by the owl?"
"Ah, I thought the letter was lost, or that it had been blown away by the wind!"
Then, the two gradually went from discussing how to reply to each other to spending long phone conversations. Young people always have so much to talk about.
Similarly, other people who responded also received letters requesting visits. This puzzled most people; these days, pranks are like TV dramas, why are they still going on?! Some even posted the replies online, reigniting the interest in the recently cooled-down acceptance letter incident.
"Look! Guys, I received another letter from an owl!" - A netizen commented and attached a picture, except that the name was covered by something.
"Oh, the prank has escalated? What's their goal? Are they just going to make the poster and their family stay home and waste time?" - A silly netizen
"Maybe they saw the poster was rich and were planning to rob them!" - A silly netizen
"You know what, it's actually possible. Look at the content, it's basically telling the poster to keep their whole family at home so they can be caught in one fell swoop!" - A silly netizen
"Stop joking, why would you send out a notice before robbing someone? Have you been reading too many phantom thief novels?" - A silly netizen
"Brothers, I borrowed a camera and hid it in a corner. Just wait and see..." - A comment from a poster.
"OP, well done! If it's just a few magic tricks performed at someone's door, everyone's just having fun. But if it's a scam... hehehe, this is the evidence!" - A silly netizen
Information circulated and chattered online, making time seem to fly by. On the evening of July 31st, in the Hogwarts Headmaster's office, Andreas and Professor McGonagall were discussing the upcoming home visits.
"Dobby, bring over two cups of black tea. Professor McGonagall and I have some work to discuss."
"Yes, Headmaster!"
Dobby snapped his fingers, and a tray appeared in the air, its teapot automatically pouring black tea into two cups. The tray then slowly landed on the principal's desk, and Dobby bent down and vanished from the spot.
"Please have some tea, Professor McGonagall."
"Thank you, Principal. Here are two lists, totaling sixty-six students whose homes need to be visited. Originally, all faculty and staff were supposed to do this together, but now it's just the two of us, so the schedule is a bit full."
He then handed two lists to Andres, on which were written:
At 10:00 AM on August 1st, Diane Bryan, 1st Floor, 154 Mariner's Avenue, Birmingham
August 1st, 3:00 PM, 101 Newark-Sherwood, Nottinghamshire, East Midlands, Bernhard Wiggins
At 10:00 AM on August 2nd, Michelle Payne, 32 Islington, London, England
August 2nd, 3 PM, 101 King Street - Nottinghamshire WE.16AL - Danielle Perry, England
The information was written on two sheets of parchment. Looking at the list, Andres rubbed his head. It seemed he had no choice but to go door-to-door promoting his school.
“Alright, Professor McGonagall, I’ll visit them according to the information on this list. The last one is yours.”
"Of course, I will try my best to persuade their guardians."
"That's settled then, get some rest."
After Professor McGonagall left, Andres also went back to the principal's lounge to sleep.
On the morning of August 1st, the whole of England was overcast.
At 9:58 a.m., Andres stood in front of the door on the ground floor of 154 Mariner's Avenue, Birmingham. He straightened his clothes again and glanced at his watch. When the hands pointed to 10 a.m., he rang the doorbell.
Meanwhile, Diane, who was inside, had been preparing for a while. Regardless of whether the other party was a fraud, a real wizard, or something else, since they had notified her in advance of their visit, she still wanted to tidy up the house properly to show her respect. She had even prepared milk tea and fruit.
