Huh? There's a magic school here.
Chapter 103 Hogsmeade Village (Part 1)
After dinner, Professor McGonagall, Professor Flitwick, Professor Sprout, Mrs. Hodge, Hagrid, and others stayed behind.
The group arrived together at Principal Andres' office, where Andres had Dobby serve them black tea and some snacks.
"Professors, this semester is over. We need to make some preparations for next semester."
“Principal Andres, introducing new courses is necessary. With over seven hundred new students admitted at once, it's difficult to have them attend classes together in both colleges. I suggest we spread them out.”
"Disperse? Professor McGonagall means?"
"How about we randomly pair students together, or have two colleges teach together, but keep the number of students in each class to around one hundred?"
"That probably won't work. With around 100 students, we'd need to divide them into seven classes. If each class has two lessons a week, that's 14 lessons a week! Plus, there are two second-year classes with four lessons each. That's an average of 18 lessons per professor per week! If we keep the number of students around 150, then there would only be five classes, and the number of lessons could be reduced to 14! On average, the professors could teach one less lesson per day!"
"Principal Andres, isn't a class of 150 students a bit too many? We've never taught so many people at the same time before, and the teaching quality is really hard to guarantee!"
“No, Professor McGonagall! In the Muggle world, a large class of 150 people is nothing. We can organize freshmen to study more through the student council! And when there are more students next year, we can arrange for Darius and others to be teaching assistants to teach the lower-year students, or I can recruit more professors through the system.”
"Since Principal Andres thinks it's okay, let's proceed this way. However, the classrooms for each subject will need to be upgraded!"
"Well, that's another considerable expense. By the way, I'm going to Hogsmeade Village tomorrow, anyone interested in coming along?"
"Of course, we haven't been to Hogsmeade in ages. Maybe we can have a drink there!"
"Great, then let's go together tomorrow. Everyone, go back and rest first."
Then the professors left the principal's office together.
Andres thought for a moment, then wrote a letter and summoned Dobby.
"Dobby, send this to Catherine for me."
Dobby took the letter and turned to go to the Owl Tower.
Soon, in the darkness, an owl spread its wings and disappeared into the moonlight.
London at night, at the headquarters of Magic Financial Investment Company.
Catherine, as the company's CEO, was still busy. Her secretary brought her a cup of coffee and then left.
The postman had gone out partying and hadn't returned yet. Lately, he'd been coming home very late at night, and no one knew what he was doing out there. Catherine could only leave a window open and the door slightly ajar. Just as the wizard chess pieces on the bookshelf were setting up their pieces for another game, a dark shadow loomed over them, and they instantly froze, as if petrified.
When they saw an owl land near Catherine, they started hurling insults at the owl as if they had agreed beforehand, but the owl simply ignored them.
Catherine was already used to it, so she ignored the chess pieces. She untied the letter from the owl's leg, then filled a cup with water and placed it in front of the owl. Upon seeing this, the owl nuzzled Catherine with its head and then lowered its head to drink the water.
Catherine opened the letter and skimmed through it. Although she didn't understand why Andres wanted her to come to Hogwarts tomorrow, she was sure it was for something. So, after writing her reply and releasing the owl, she pressed the pager to summon her secretary. She told her secretary that she could cancel all her plans for tomorrow and go home to rest.
Then Catherine dropped what she was doing and went to bed. She couldn't go to see Andres tomorrow with dark circles under her eyes; she had to present her best self to her boss.
The next morning, around 10 a.m., Catherine finished breakfast and waited in the office.
As she was leisurely reading, a large-eyed house-elf suddenly appeared in the office. It looked like Sparkle?
"Are you Gilgamesh?"
“Sparkling is very happy to meet Miss Catherine. Principal Andres sent me to pick you up.”
"Alright then, we can set off now."
"Please take my hand, Miss Catherine."
Then Catherine took Brilliant's hand and experienced Apparition.
When Catherine could take in her surroundings, she found herself in a strange village. Standing in the center of the village, Catherine saw a signpost in the middle of the road with addresses marked on it. For example, Ollivander's Wand Shop was 100 meters ahead, Madam Malkin's Robes Shop was 200 meters to the left, and the Magical Creatures Shop was 150 meters to the right.
Just as Catherine was getting dizzy from the sights, a voice woke her up.
"Hi, Catherine! We're here."
Catherine looked in the direction of the voice and saw that it was Andres who had called her, and standing next to Andres was a group of professors.
Time goes back to an hour ago.
After having breakfast with the professors, Andres set off from the castle and walked to the village at the foot of the mountain. The journey was about three kilometers and took them forty-five minutes.
When I first arrived in Hogsmeade, there were only a dozen or so empty buildings. These houses were clearly in the Scottish style, with pointed roofs, slender chimneys, and stepped gables. Two cobblestone streets intersected in the center of the village, dividing it into four sections.
Before arriving, Andres had inquired with the system, which stated that Hogsmeade Village was currently at level one, offering eighteen empty buildings! As for which shops to open, Andres would need to exchange for them himself. However, to Andres' delight, the first shop he exchanged came with a free shop owner! That's right, buy a shop and get a free owner!
Just as Andres was complaining, the system notified him: "The host can choose to keep only the shops and not the NPCs, leaving everything to the host to manage." Andres immediately shut up; he had no time to manage these shops, he'd rather let the NPCs handle it.
So Andres began exchanging currency at the shops he had discussed with the professors along the way.
First and foremost, Ollivander's Wand Shop is a must-have! Do you really expect Andres to exchange them one by one from the system?
Then there's Madam Malkin's Robes Shop, so the school won't have to provide uniforms to new wizards anymore; they can buy their own!
Now that I have the robe, I should buy some textbooks. I'll definitely need to open Flourish and Blotts, which will increase my options for acquiring more magic books.
Devis & Bans Shop is a magical equipment shop that also sells repair tools. It offers a wide variety of magical items and equipment, such as Quidditch equipment, monster-proof glasses, and memory balls. In short, they sell all sorts of gadgets, making it more like a general store in the Muggle world.
As Andres was redeeming these shops, he noticed Hagrid walking back and forth in front of him several times, looking like he wanted to say something but couldn't.
"Hagrid, what's wrong?"
