Rebirth in Another World: The Ultimate Legend
Chapter 159 The World in the Box (Part 2)
Lin Yu and the mysterious man, leading the monster, struggled to make their way through the mist-shrouded valley. The path beneath their feet was rugged and uneven, littered with rocks of varying sizes and crisscrossing roots. Some of the rocks were sharp as knives, while others were round like balls; a moment's carelessness could lead to a trip and a cut from their sharp edges. The roots, like snakes, meandered and intertwined, bursting forth from the ground only to disappear into the darkness once more.
Their eyes were filled with vigilance, not missing a single subtle movement. The mysterious man gripped his staff tightly; the staff was entirely black, and the gemstone inlaid at its head occasionally shimmered faintly, as if probing for unknown dangers ahead. Lin Yu, on the other hand, gripped his spirit sword tightly, the blade trembling slightly with his tension. In the dim light, the sharp blade occasionally reflected a cold glint, like a star in a cold night.
The monster, no longer agitated, quietly followed beside them. Its steps were light and cautious, each step as silent as possible. It would only occasionally twitch its nose, seemingly searching for something by instinct. A hint of alertness shone in its eyes, and its fur, damp from the mist, clung to its body.
Time ticked by, and their steps grew heavier and heavier. Each step seemed to require immense effort. Lin Yu's breathing became rapid, beads of sweat forming on his forehead, sliding down his cheeks and dripping onto the stones beneath his feet. The mysterious man's face was also slightly pale; the prolonged period of intense concentration had left him utterly exhausted.
But the hope in their hearts never died out. It was the driving force that kept them going, the only beacon in this unknown fear.
Suddenly, the monster stopped and growled in a low, suppressed voice in one direction. The voice was deep and menacing, as if warning something. Lin Yu and the mysterious man instantly tensed, their nerves taut. They looked in the direction the monster was pointing and saw a strange light faintly shining through the hazy mist. The light was elusive, as if it might vanish into the thick fog at any moment.
They approached cautiously, each step as light as a cat's paw. As they drew closer, the light gradually became clearer. It was a portal shimmering with multicolored light, its frame covered with mysterious runes. These runes seemed alive, flickering with light, the light emanating from between them, forming dazzling beams of light that intertwined.
"This might be the way out." The mysterious man's voice carried a hint of uncertainty, but more so, anticipation. His gaze was fixed on the door, trying to decipher the meaning behind the mysterious runes.
Lin Yu stared at the door, his brows furrowed. After a moment of contemplation, he said, "No matter what, let's go in and try. Maybe this is our only chance." His eyes revealed determination and resolve; he was prepared to face the unknown.
The mysterious man nodded, took a deep breath, and tried to calm himself down. His heartbeat was exceptionally clear in the silent valley.
They walked step by step toward the mysterious portal, each step filled with trepidation and anticipation. As they approached the portal, a powerful force rushed towards them, like a surging tide, making them feel dizzy. This force was invisible and colorless, yet real and tangible, as if it wanted to suck their souls out of their bodies.
But they did not back down. They exchanged a glance, giving each other a resolute look. That look contained trust, courage, and determination. Then, together, they stepped through the door that shone with an eerie light.
As they stepped through that strange portal, they felt a sudden dizziness, as if the entire world was turning upside down. A dazzling light filled their vision, so intense they couldn't open their eyes. Their bodies felt weightless, drifting aimlessly like dust floating in the vast universe.
Lin Yu tried desperately to steady himself, but found he had no control whatsoever. He tried to grab onto something to steady himself, but there was nothing around him except for the light. The mysterious man was also struggling in this chaotic space, trying to cast spells to stabilize the situation. He chanted incantations, waving his staff and emitting beams of light. But it all seemed futile; the powerful force continued to manipulate them at will.
After an unknown amount of time, the intense dizziness gradually subsided, and the light slowly dimmed. When they opened their eyes again, they found themselves back in the temple.
"Finally out!" Lin Yu breathed a long sigh of relief, his face filled with the joy of surviving a close call. His body trembled slightly from the excessive tension and fatigue, but his heart was filled with immense ease. He looked around, and the familiar yet unfamiliar temple scenery brought him a sense of peace. The stone pillars in the temple were still tall and majestic, and although the murals on the walls had faded somewhat, one could still feel their former glory.
The mysterious man also breathed a sigh of relief, but he quickly became vigilant again: "But this place may not be safe either, we need to leave as soon as possible." His eyes scanned the temple quickly, searching for any potential dangers.
Just then, a deep roar echoed from within the temple, causing the entire structure to tremble slightly. The sound seemed to emanate from an ancient beast, carrying boundless rage and majesty. A gigantic monster slowly emerged from the shadows, its body like a small mountain, each step causing a dull thud in the ground. Its skin was rough as rock, covered with mysterious patterns. On its massive head, two eyes blazed like burning fireballs, radiating a terrifying light.
Lin Yu gripped his spirit sword tightly, ready for battle, his eyes revealing unwavering determination. His heart pounded again, but this time not from fear, but from the desire to fight.
The mysterious figure formed hand seals and chanted incantations, preparing to unleash another powerful spell. A powerful aura emanated from him, counteracting the monster's oppressive force.
The monster opened its gaping maw and spewed out a stream of black flames. The flames, like a roaring black dragon, swept towards Lin Yu and the mysterious man. The intense heat instantly ignited the surrounding air.
Lin Yu and the mysterious man quickly dodged to the sides. Lin Yu swung his sword, sending a sharp sword aura flying towards the monster. The sword aura sliced through the air with a piercing whistling sound. The mysterious man waved his hands, and an ice wall rose in front of them, attempting to block the spread of the flames. The ice wall collided with the flames, producing a hissing sound and releasing steam.
The monster was struck by the sword energy, leaving a deep wound on its body. It roared angrily, its voice deafening, and launched an even more frenzied attack. It swung its enormous claws and pounced towards Lin Yu and the mysterious man.
Lin Yu used his agile movements to relentlessly attack the monster's weaknesses, his spirit sword leaving numerous wounds on its body. The mysterious man's spells also rained down on the monster one after another—lightning, fireballs, ice spikes—each spell containing immense power.
After a fierce battle, the monster was covered in wounds and its strength was gradually waning. Its movements became sluggish, and its attacks were no longer as ferocious.
Lin Yu seized the opportunity, mustered all his strength, and thrust out a fatal sword. The spirit sword pierced straight into the monster's heart, and the monster let out a final, desperate roar before collapsing to the ground.
"This place is no place to stay any longer, let's go!" the mysterious man shouted. His voice was hoarse from exhaustion.
Lin Yu and the mysterious man, along with the monster, hurriedly left the temple...
