Su Ling's Time Travel
Chapter 49 Bai Ao's Decision
Su Ling bit her lip and mustered her courage to say, "Your Highness, I... I've come to bid you farewell. I've decided to leave the Prince's Mansion and return to the Su Mansion."
Bai Ao was shocked upon hearing this. He knew that Su Ling's departure meant she was completely disillusioned with the Prince's Mansion. He was silent for a moment, then nodded: "Alright, I respect your decision. After you go back, you must live well and not be troubled by the past."
Su Ling nodded, her eyes shining with gratitude. She knew Bai Ao was a fair man; he wouldn't show favoritism because of his status. She said softly, "Thank you for your understanding and support, Your Highness. I will strive to live well and won't let you down."
Bai Ao looked at her, a warm feeling welling up inside him. He knew that Su Ling was a strong woman, and she would definitely be able to overcome the shadows and embrace a new life. He smiled slightly and said, "Miss Su Ling, you don't need to worry. I will send people to protect you and your family, and I won't let anyone harm you."
Upon hearing this, Su Ling felt a surge of emotion. She knew that Bai Ao was a man of his word, and his promise would certainly be fulfilled. She bowed and said gratefully, "Thank you for your protection and care, Your Highness. Su Ling will forever remember it."
Bai Ao watched her departing figure, a complex mix of emotions welling up within him. He knew that his decision, though cruel, was necessary. He could not tolerate a son who had disgraced the family and brought shame upon them continuing to hold the position of heir, nor could he allow the reputation of the royal family to be damaged because of his mistake. He could only hope that Su Ling could forgive his decision and find her own happiness.
He returned to his desk, picked up his pen, and began to write an edict deposing the crown prince. His strokes were firm and powerful, as if declaring his resolve and courage to the world. He put down his pen, looked at the edict before him, and a surge of heroic ambition welled up in his heart.
The night was as dark as ink, the moonlight thin. Situ Lianxin sat alone by the window in her study, gazing at the deep darkness outside. A complex mix of emotions surged within her: hatred, determination, and a barely perceptible sorrow. She knew she had finally found her chance to avenge her mother and eliminate those who had harmed her and her family.
Her gaze fell on the secret letter on the table, evidence she had painstakingly obtained, enough to expose Bai Yanxuan and Xue Min's crimes. A cold smile curled at the corner of her lips as she silently recited their names, as if trying to concentrate all her anger and hatred into those two words.
"Bai Yanxuan, Xue Min, you will finally pay the price for what you have done," she said in a low voice, her tone unwavering.
She began planning a series of actions to expose their crimes. She knew it would be a tough battle, but she was prepared to avenge her mother, no matter the cost.
The next morning, Situ Lianxin changed into an elegant dress and entered the main hall of the Prince's mansion. She saw Bai Yanxuan and Xue Min sitting at the table, chatting and laughing as if nothing had happened. A surge of anger welled up inside her, but she suppressed it.
She walked up to them, bowed, and said in a cold voice, "Greetings, Young Master Bai and Young Master Xue."
Upon hearing this, Bai Yanxuan and Xue Min both looked up at her. A hint of surprise flashed in Bai Yanxuan's eyes; he hadn't expected Situ Lianxin to come to him on her own initiative. A shadow crossed Xue Min's eyes, however, as he sensed that Situ Lianxin was acting strangely today.
"Miss Lianxin, what brings you here today?" Bai Yanxuan asked with a smile, trying to hide his inner turmoil.
Situ Lianxin looked at him coldly, her voice devoid of any warmth: "I have some things I want to talk to you about."
Bai Yanxuan and Xue Min exchanged a glance, both sensing something was amiss. They knew Situ Lianxin had always been dissatisfied with their behavior, but she had never proactively sought them out to talk before. A sense of unease welled up within them; they wondered what Situ Lianxin was up to.
"Miss Lianxin, just say what's on your mind," Xue Min said in a deep voice, trying to take the initiative.
Situ Lianxin smiled slightly, her gaze fixed intently on them: "Alright, then I'll be frank. I know you've been doing shady things behind my father's back, and I also know you killed my mother."
Upon hearing this, Bai Yanxuan and Xue Min's expressions changed drastically. They hadn't expected Situ Lianxin to know these things. A sense of fear welled up in their hearts; they didn't know just how much evidence Situ Lianxin possessed.
"Miss Lianxin, what... what are you saying? How could we possibly do such a thing?" Bai Yanxuan said, trying to remain calm.
Situ Lianxin sneered, pulled out the secret letter from her bosom, and threw it on the table: "This is the letter you wrote to Hong Mei, detailing your crimes. Do you have anything else to say?"
