Moonlight falls into my arms

Chapter 3 Why Jiang Yuci Dared Not Look at Her

Ruan Li was a little embarrassed, "That showerhead, the water just started flowing for no reason, I..."

Jiang Yuci looked behind her and saw footprints stained with moisture on the gray-white floor tiles.

He then realized that he had forgotten to buy her slippers.

Jiang Yuci opened the shoe cabinet door.

Ruan Li walked over and was surprised to see a pair of women's slippers inside. "Isn't no one home? Why are there women's slippers here?"

You need to talk less.

"..."

Ruan Li pursed her lips, thinking that this was actually the least she had ever said.

Jiang Yuci didn't get Ruan Li the women's slippers; instead, he got her a pair of men's summer slippers.

Ruan Li opened her mouth, about to ask something, but Jiang Yuci's previous words popped into her mind, so she had to shut up.

Looking at the women's slippers in the shoe cabinet, she thought that perhaps Jiang Yuci had lived with his first love before, and that he still couldn't bear to part with her after the breakup.

It seems he really cherishes his first love, which is why he doesn't want anyone else to touch it.

The other set of toothbrush and cups on the washstand probably belonged to Jiang Yuci's first love.

Ruan Li thought of the woman he described in his diary; she was truly beautiful.

"How did you and your first love break up?" Ruan Li asked bluntly, not afraid of hurting anyone's feelings.

Jiang Yu glanced at her.

Without saying a word, Ruan Li seemed to hear the words—"You need to talk less."

She murmured, "Didn't I say I'd help you pursue your first love? Of course I need to know a little about it."

Jiang Yuci got her slippers, washed her hands again, and then drank the water.

He looked at the actor in front of him and said in a deep voice, "Do you want to get a fever?"

Ruan Li pulled up her soaking wet clothes, glanced down at them, and looked up at Jiang Yuci with a hint of grievance: "You didn't buy me pajamas."

She only bought a few cotton-padded jackets, but they're all openwork inside.

Jiang Yuci's eyelashes trembled slightly. He turned his gaze away from Ruan Li's view, but noticed the whitening wound on her knee. He frowned slightly and said, "There's a first-aid kit in the cabinet. I'm going to sleep."

Ruan Li watched as he took only a sip of water and wondered to herself: How strange, why doesn't Jiang Yuci dare to look at her?

She silently went to the bathroom, took off her wet clothes, dried herself, and put on the long down jacket that Jiang Yuci had bought for her—a basic all-black style.

It really didn't match Ruan Li's small, youthful, and energetic face.

Ruan Li walked around the bathroom and living room, but didn't see a single mirror. She muttered to herself, "He's so handsome, doesn't he ever look in the mirror?"

Ruan Li used the French windows as a mirror and saw herself wrapped up like a long dumpling in a long down jacket. Her vision went black. "Luckily there's no mirror, so I can't see anything."

She went to get the first-aid kit from the cabinet in the entryway and squatted down next to the sofa to apply the medicine to herself.

He then casually glanced around Jiang Yuci's house.

The house has three bedrooms and two living rooms, with an open-air balcony outside the floor-to-ceiling windows. She then looked at the kitchen opposite the living room, which was separated by a glass partition. The kitchen was spotless, with no trace of cooking, not even a pot.

Ruan Li also guessed that her first love might have left because Jiang Yuci couldn't cook at all.

She started wondering again what kind of person he was.

Judging from her diary, she seems to be a person who is happy no matter what she does. In her diary, she wrote that she would laugh even if she did poorly on a test, saying that it would be easier to improve next time if she did poorly this time. She would also laugh if she did well on a test, saying that she could ask for a reward when she got home.

He is an optimistic person.

Looking at Jiang Yuci again, he is clearly a pessimist.

Ruan Li looked out at the silent night and sighed, "I must still be dreaming."

Perhaps I'll wake up after a good night's sleep.

......

When Jiang Yuci woke up, he was covered in sweat. He threw off the covers and turned down the air conditioning.

Ruan Li...

Jiang Yuci had seen her smile many times, but never once for him. Yet just yesterday, someone who looked almost exactly like her smiled at him.

He suddenly wondered if it was just a dream.

After the surgery, he went straight home to sleep and had that absurd dream.

Jiang Yuci turned on her phone screen; it was three in the morning.

He got out of bed and pushed open the door to go out.

The living room lights were on.

Jiang Yuci could only see Ruan Li.

She was completely wrapped in her clothes, squatting against the sofa, her face buried deep in her collar, her cheeks flushed from sleep.

He was still clutching a cotton swab in his hand, the swab stained with blood.

It's not a dream, it's real.

Jiang Yuci stood in front of Ruan Li, their shadows reflected in the living room's floor-to-ceiling windows.

Jiang Yuci squatted down in front of Ruan Li, carefully observing her face.

If only it were her...

"Hmm..." Ruan Li shrank further into her clothes, revealing only her furrowed brows and eyes.

Jiang Yuci heard that her voice was hoarse and immediately sensed something was wrong. He touched her forehead with the back of his hand.

very hot.

Jiang Yuci carried the person to the guest room, which was cold as the heating hadn't been turned on beforehand.

He paused, looking at the person in his arms. She was frowning, her cheeks flushed.

Jiang Yuci carried the person to his room, placed her on the bed, and looked at her down jacket. Just as he was about to take it off, he noticed that a large part of her chest was bare, and she had no clothes underneath.

To minimize the damage, Jiang Yuci didn't touch her clothes again. He took a first-aid kit from outside, took her temperature, applied a fever patch, and gave her medicine.

“Mom…” Ruan Li gripped his hand, muttering something unintelligible.

Jiang Yuci pried her hand away, and just as he placed the water glass on the counter next to him, Ruan Li grabbed the corner of his clothes again.

The little girl seemed to be having a nightmare, tears welling in her eyes, "Mommy...don't abandon me..."

"..." Jiang Yuci stood still, waiting for Ruan Li's hand to naturally release before leaving.

......

"Why are you at work?" The head of cardiac surgery looked displeased when he saw Jiang Yuci. "Didn't I tell you to rest?"

Jiang Yuci was tucking her work badge into her collar as she replied, "One night's sleep is enough."

If it weren't for her fever, Jiang Yuci would definitely be able to concentrate fully on her work.

"Everyone else would love to rest more, but you're the only one who can." The director shook his head. "Once you get married, you'll be thinking about your family."

The director then began introducing his daughter to him.

Jiang Yuci politely shook his head, "I have no plans to get married."

No matter who tries to introduce Jiang Yuci to a potential blind date, they will only get this one response.

"So sure? You're that concerned..." The director started to say, but then sighed, shook his head, and said never mind.

Jiang Yuci understood what he was going to say.

He never revealed his past, but almost everyone at Hua'an Hospital could say a few words about his past. Jiang Yuci knew who was spreading the rumors, but he was too lazy to care.

Around 11 o'clock, the information desk dialed Jiang Yuci's number.

"Dr. Jiang, a little girl is looking for you. She says she's a relative's child." The two consultants weren't the same ones who were on duty yesterday. When they saw Ruan Li, they assumed she was there for a medical checkup, but the little girl immediately asked for Jiang Yuci.

“I… am his relative’s child.” Ruan Li was clutching a sticky note in her hand, which Jiang Yuci had left on the table.

He said he would let her wake up and take a taxi to the hospital to find him.

When Ruan Li woke up and couldn't find anyone, she thought she had been abandoned. She was relieved when she saw the note and rushed to the hospital.

Jiang Yu paid the fare with the cash that was under the note.

The consultant wrote down Jiang Yuci's floor and department for Ruan Li and praised Ruan Li.

"The little girl is so pretty."

"Thank you, sister." Ruan Li was given a few more candies.

When Ruan Li found Jiang Yuci at the address, he was sitting in front of his computer looking at medical records.

Ruan Li didn't speak, but her stomach spoke first, growling a few times.

She hasn't eaten anything since yesterday.

"This is the money left over from the taxi fare." Ruan Li placed the money on the table.

Jiang Yuci glanced at her and pushed the things beside him to her.

These are pre-packaged soup dumplings.

“Let’s eat out,” he said.

Ruan Li was in a good mood, but Jiang Yuci added, "After you finish eating, I'll have someone take you home. He'll help you. Just tell him how much money you need."

"Go back? Go back to your home?"

Jiang Yu stopped what he was doing, looked at her, and said in a deep, mellow voice, "Your home."
