Moonlight falls into my arms

Chapter 22 Push away the person who came to hug you.

Ruan Li drank half of it, and while Jiang Yu was making a phone call, she poured the remaining half into the cat's bowl.

When Jiang Yuci returned after finishing his call, he glanced at Ruan Li's cup and looked at her.

Ruan Li rubbed her stomach, "I've drunk my fill, but I still need to take my medicine."

She didn't know if Jiang Yuci had figured it out or not, but he didn't question her.

After finishing her meal, Ruan Li offered to clear the table and wash the dishes.

"Do you want to ruin your own hands?"

Ruan Li's hand wound hasn't healed yet, so it's really not good for it to get wet.

She moved closer to Jiang Yuci and massaged his hand. "Thank you for your hard work, Dr. Jiang. Once my hand is better, I'll help you mop the floor, wash the dishes, and hang the clothes to dry. I'll do everything."

Jiang Yuci didn't take her words seriously. She was just making it sound nice now, but if she actually did it, she would just drag her feet.

Jiang Yuci was washing dishes in the kitchen, and Ruan Li was leaning against the door to keep him company.

“You can go watch TV,” Jiang Yuci said.

"No, I feel bad for you."

"..."

Ruan Li circled around him, saying, "How can I let you wash the dishes here all alone?"

"You're noisy."

"I'll stop arguing if you let me play on my phone."

Jiang Yuci glanced at her, as if he could see right through her.

That must be her real purpose.

"Help yourself," he said, rinsing the bowl in his hands.

Ruan Li rubbed her hands together, then reached into Jiang Yuci's pocket and took his phone: "If I win a few more games, I'll be able to advance."

Ruan Li called out via voice message, "Boss, I'm back! Log in, log in!"

Jiang Yuci watched the water in her hand flow slowly over the rim of the bowl and then splash down again, while the little girl chattered noisily to the person opposite her, explaining why she hadn't replied to her messages.

Jiang Yuci heard the male voice on the other end ask, "Are you really a primary school student? It can't be that bad. How can a primary school student be playing games on Monday? It's summer vacation. We high school students don't even have summer vacation yet."

"Didn't you say you weren't going to school anymore?"

"I'm speechless. I got arrested and went to jail. I ran into a lunatic on my way to skip school."

Jiang Yuci frowned when he heard the words "skipping school".

The two chatted for a while and then started playing games.

Jiang Yuci began to speak, "Don't believe everyone."

Ruan Li let out a sound.

Jiang Yuci remained silent, somewhat amused by her own actions just now, actually trying to tell her not to trust just anyone.

The person next to me is the biggest liar.

The stories are crafted so smoothly, it's as if it were an innate talent.

A voice came from the phone, "Hey, Uncle, my mic's on. I wouldn't lie to a primary school student. I'd be losing money playing games with your daughter. I charge a lot for gaming with her."

Jiang Yuci paused noticeably while washing the dishes. Ruan Li felt awkward, secretly glanced at Jiang Yuci, and guiltily turned down the volume on her phone.

“I’ll turn off the microphone right now,” Ruan Licai said.

The opposing player was displeased, saying, "Your parents are so strict, they have to watch you while you play games."

"Go ahead and hit me." Ruan Li turned down the volume, afraid that the big boss would say something that would upset Jiang Yuci again.

Jiang Yuci was still thinking about the "uncle" from the other side.

He wasn't unaccustomed to being called "uncle" by the children who came to see him for treatment.

He never cared about these things, but for some reason today, he was actually thinking about how old he really was.

"Um, I'm going back to my room to check on the kittens." Ruan Li went back to her room with her phone before turning the volume up.

"Why are you talking nonsense? My parents are unhappy."

The person on the other end chuckled: "What nonsense did I spout?"

"You call him uncle, and besides, I'm not his daughter."

"Oh, I've only heard you mention parents before. I thought it was a single father with his elementary school-aged daughter."

Ruan Li explained, "I called him 'parent' because... well, I can't explain it to you."

"Besides! I'm not a primary school student! I'm eighteen this year! I'll be nineteen after the New Year!"

"Eighteen? Then I'm still older than you, call me brother."

Ruan Li certainly didn't call him that. Even Jiang Yuci didn't call her "brother," so it was none of his business.

Ruan Li was playing games in the corner between the bed and the wall when Jiang Yuci knocked on the door. Ruan Li hurriedly said "Come in" and her eyes were fixed on her phone.

Jiang Yuci came in with a thermometer. "Let me take your temperature."

"Huh? Oh, wait a minute." Ruan Li's pupils were fixed on the screen, her eyes tense.

Jiang Yuci frowned and took a few steps toward her room, where a furry, living creature circled around her feet.

He paused and pushed it outwards with his foot.

The kitten was injured, and he touched it very lightly, posing no threat whatsoever, which caused the kitten to circle around his feet and refuse to leave.

As the victory sound rang from her phone, Ruan Li tossed the phone aside and jumped up: "Yay! Three wins in a row! I advanced! You're amazing!"

"You have a fever?"

"It's okay, it's all done now, I'm logging out," Ruan Li said, exiting the interface.

She squatted down beside Jiang Yuci's feet, picked up the mischievous kitten, and said, "Fishbone, you can only stick to me! I'm your boss!"

Ruan Li patted its head.

Jiang Yuci's eyes widened in shock, and he asked through clenched teeth, "What?"

Ruan Li belatedly realized her mistake and turned her back to Jiang Yuci with a guilty conscience, stroking the kitten in her arms. "Fishbone is the name I gave it. It's the fish bone, the thorns on the fish, which the kitten likes to eat."

"Then why not call it fish bone, but fish thorn?" Jiang Yuci was stunned for a moment when he suddenly heard Ruan Li call it fish thorn before he realized that fish thorn was calling for cat.

It's true... she didn't develop a big appetite, but she certainly developed a lot of boldness.

Ruan Li forcefully changed the subject, "Ah, I'm dizzy, am I still running a fever? Quickly take my temperature, I need to take my temperature."

She gently placed the kitten back in its nest, then took the thermometer from Jiang Yuci. "What if it still has a fever?"

Jiang Yuci said coldly, "Go to the hospital and get an injection."

Ruan Li stuck out her tongue. "I'm definitely better now. The dizziness was probably from playing games for too long."

Jiang Yuci became increasingly certain that he was right not to give his phone to Ruan Li, otherwise she might have been secretly playing games in bed at night.

"Keep an eye on the time, leave it for five minutes." Jiang Yuci took her phone and went out, closing the door behind her as she did so for Ruan Li.

He went to the study and saw that five minutes had passed.

Looking at Ruan Li again, the little girl was lying on the bed asleep, a comic book open in her hand.

Her fair cheeks were flushed, and the strands of hair that brushed against her nose rose and fell with her even breaths.

Jiang Yuci shook her shoulder.

There was no sound at all.

“Your cat ran away,” he whispered in Ruan Li’s ear.

"Ah, a fishbone..." The little girl reached out and hugged her kitten. "Don't run away, I'll be good to you."

Jiang Yuci froze, feeling the warm breath from Ruan Li brush against his neck, the strands of hair tickling him.

His Adam's apple bobbed, barely brushing past the tip of his upturned nose, and his breathing became slightly erratic.

Jiang Yu suddenly pushed away the person who was hugging her.

Ruan Li bounced twice on the bed, which woke her up abruptly. She squinted, and the ceiling light was a bit too bright.

"Check for yourself if it's still burning." Jiang Yuci didn't even exchange a glance with Ruan Li before opening the door and leaving.

The door slammed shut with a bang, quite heavily.

Ruan Li rolled around on the bed, wondering what she had done to upset this petty guy again.
