The princess came to her senses and walked to the carriage with Song Zhili. They got into the carriage together, and it slowly started moving.

Bai Xiao, who was hiding in the shadows, saw this and immediately followed. Just as the carriage passed a secluded spot, he flew to the coachman's side, took out a short blade, and slit the coachman's neck in one swift motion. However, he did not rush to throw the body off the road.

Instead, he took the reins himself, turned around, and quickly headed out of the city.

Inside the carriage, Song Zhili and the princess were completely unaware of anything amiss. It wasn't until their carriage left the city that Song Zhili felt the carriage was bumping a bit and realized something was wrong. Just as she was about to look outside, the carriage suddenly sped up.

The carriage jolted violently, and the princess realized something was wrong, but she only thought the horse might have gone out of control and didn't think of anything else.

Bai Xiao led them quickly to a deserted road, where he threw the long-dead coachman into the woods. Then, he cracked his whip, and the carriage sped off.

Song Zhili lifted the carriage curtain and glanced outside. Seeing that it was a forest, she immediately became alert. "Princess, you and Qiu Tao stay inside and sit tight. I'll go out and take a look."

After Song Zhili finished speaking, she was about to leave, but before she could, the princess stopped her and shook her head, "Don't go, it's dangerous outside."

Seeing that the princess was worried about her, Song Zhili patted the princess's hand that was holding hers, "Princess, it's alright, I'm just going out to take a look, there won't be any danger."

After saying that, she gave the princess a reassuring smile. Seeing that she was determined to go out, the princess had no choice but to let go of her hand and said, "Then you must be careful."

Song Zhili nodded, then, using her sleeve as a cover, took the pistol out of her spatial storage. Holding the pistol, she lifted the carriage curtain and saw a strange man in white driving the carriage. She asked in a low voice, "Who are you? Where are you taking us?"

The man in white made no attempt to disguise himself. He never expected Song Zhili to be so bold as to come out and ask questions. However, he didn't take Song Zhili seriously at all, thinking that she was just putting on a brave face and ignored her.

"I'll ask you one more time, who are you, and where are you taking us? If you don't tell me, don't blame me for shooting."

Song Zhili pulled out a gun and pressed it against Bai Xiao's back.

Bai Xiao felt something pressing against his back, but after carefully sensing it, he realized it wasn't a dagger or anything like that. He couldn't quite put his finger on what it felt like, but he still didn't pay it any mind.

He thought Song Zhili was deliberately bluffing him. "You'd better not waste your time. I won't tell you who I am. Just know that someone wants to clear your names."

Upon hearing this, Song Zhili frowned and thought about it carefully. She didn't have any enemies in the capital. The only person she didn't get along with was Gu Changqing, but in his current state, he couldn't cause any trouble at all.

Suddenly, Cui Xiaodie's image flashed through her mind, and she immediately asked again, "Did Cui Xiaodie send you?"

Song Zhili kept her eyes fixed on him. She clearly saw that the moment she finished asking the question, Bai Xiao's body suddenly stiffened for a moment. Song Zhili immediately knew what was going on. Without saying a word, she shot Bai Xiao in the back.

Bai Xiao groaned in pain, turned his head in disbelief to look at Song Zhili, then raised his whip and lashed the horse's back hard, falling off the horse.

Song Zhili turned her head and fired a few more shots at Bai Xiao's position, but she wasn't sure if she could hit him. The horse was now running forward like it had gone mad. Hearing the exclamations from inside the carriage, Song Zhili immediately put her gun away.

Then she pulled on the reins. She had learned a little about riding in modern times, but now the horse was like it had gone mad and was completely out of Song Zhili's control.

Seeing that the horse couldn't keep running like that, and not knowing where they were, Song Zhili decided that the only way to stop their carriage was to shoot the horse dead.

She took out her pistol again, turned her head and shouted into the carriage, "Qiu Tao, Princess, the three of you hold on together. This horse has gone mad. I'll try to stop it. It might be very dangerous later, so you must be careful."

Song Zhili's voice was very loud, and the princess and the others inside the carriage heard her shouts. They immediately hugged each other, but just as they were embracing, they suddenly leaned forward and rolled toward the carriage door.

Outside, after Song Zhili fired at the horse, the horse immediately collapsed. Due to inertia, Song Zhili fell off the horse, but fortunately, she only suffered minor scrapes on her hands and feet and was otherwise unharmed.

When Song Zhili saw the carriage finally stop, she immediately got up and ran towards it. She saw the princess and the others huddled together, tumbling inside the carriage with half their bodies already out, but thankfully they hadn't fallen out.

Song Zhili stepped forward and helped the group up. The princess was terrified and her body was trembling slightly. Her hair was a mess, and she had completely lost her princess demeanor.

Qiu Tao and the maid weren't much better off. They had let the princess lie on top of them because they were afraid she would get hurt. Although the princess had lost a lot of weight, she still weighed at least 150 pounds, and it was uncomfortable for the two of them to be on top of her.

Song Zhili first pulled the princess off them, and after the princess stood up, she helped Qiu Tao and the maid to their feet. "Are you alright?"

The two maids shook their heads simultaneously. "We're fine, Miss Song. What happened? Why did the horse suddenly go out of control? Where's the coachman? Where did he go?"

Qiu Tao had no idea what was happening, nor did she know that the carriage outside had long since been taken by a different person.

“We’ve been ambushed. The coachman is dead. All of you, move around and see if you’re injured. If you’re not injured, we need to figure out how to get back. We don’t have a carriage now, and we don’t even know where we are.”

Hearing Song Zhili's words, the group was terrified. They hadn't expected such a thing to happen. They all obediently moved their bodies, and thankfully none of them were injured.

“Miss Song, we are all alright.”

Hearing what they said, Song Zhili nodded, then looked at the princess and saw her still standing there dumbfounded.

Song Zhili stepped forward and asked, "Princess, are you alright? Are you hurt?"
