Boonie Bears: Another World Fantasy

Chapter 89 Nathaniel (Part 2)

"Miss Xiao...excuse me, did you just arrive from Shenzhen?"

As Zhao Lin spoke, she tidied her messy hair. The woman in front of her, who called herself Sister Naya, didn't seem so kind.

“I’ve been watching you for a while now,” Na Ling said softly, her voice clear and crisp.

Zhao Lin nodded thoughtfully, then asked, "Then... Na Ling, can you take us to Shencheng? The original plan was for Salta to send us to find you, but we've run into you now."

Na Ling smiled slightly, but did not answer Zhao Lin's question directly. Instead, she turned her head and looked at Sharp, who was sitting to the side.

Sharp felt Na Ling's intense gaze, his heart tightened, and he quickly lowered his head.

“Shenzhen isn’t much better off than here now. Besides, the person in the trunk isn’t the only one eyeing him.” Na Ling looked around with a serious expression, and after confirming that there was nothing unusual around her, she slowly closed the car door.

“I suggest you prepare yourselves mentally beforehand. If you encounter the police or anyone else on the road later, do not open the windows easily.” After saying that, Na Ling reached for her waist, pulled out a gleaming dagger, and handed it to Zhao Lin, saying solemnly, “If it’s Templar Knights chasing us, then we can only pray that we still have the ability to deal with them…”

"Wait!" Sharp, sitting in the back seat, suddenly interrupted her. He held his nose, which was wrapped in gauze, and asked with a puzzled look, "What do you mean? Is he not the only one here?"

Na Ling was silent for a moment, then finally nodded and replied, "Yes." Before she finished speaking, Na Ling slammed on the gas pedal, and the car roared and shot off like an arrow. Sharp, due to inertia, leaned forward uncontrollably.

"Ugh!" A dull thud came from the trunk.

“Listen, kid.” Suddenly, Na Ling reminded Sharp, “I’ll settle things with you about my sister’s matter after we’ve dealt with this matter.”

Knowing that Naling was targeting him, Sharp remained silent. He understood that Naya's death had left Naling with a lingering resentment towards him, and perhaps, not attacking her directly was the greatest restraint she could muster. Therefore, he chose silence; Sharp didn't want to escalate the conflict at this moment, which could be considered a form of tacit agreement.

Another inexplicable tension filled the car, leaving Zhao Lin feeling utterly helpless. Looking at the two people who were completely at odds, she wanted to offer some advice but didn't know where to begin. She could only silently hold Abu and gaze into the distance.

The car sped along the road, the scenery outside the window rushing past, as if even time itself was accelerating. Exhausted, Zhao Lin's thoughts drifted away, and somehow, in a daze, she thought of those trivial matters from the past and... him.

"No..." Zhao Lin cried out in her heart.

Every time she thought of him, Zhao Lin's heart ached. She knew she could never go back. Yet, whenever memories flooded back like a tide, she couldn't control her emotions.

She even hallucinated, subconsciously mistaking Sharp for someone else.

I see it as...that person.

"Meow-"

Abu squirmed uncomfortably in Zhao Lin's arms, making whimpering noises. Zhao Lin then realized she was holding him too tightly and quickly let go.

"Why are there pets?" Na Ling glanced at Abu and asked in a cold tone.

“It’s not a pet, it’s our savior,” Sharp explained calmly. But Abu seemed to be frightened by Naling’s unnecessary pressure, and immediately jumped onto the back seat and obediently lay there.

“Na Ling is nothing like Na Ya, she’s so fierce,” Abu complained in a low voice.

"Oh? So it can talk?" Naling heard Abu's words and looked at it sharply. Abu was so frightened that it quickly shrank its neck and dared not move at all.

"Abu!" Sharp grabbed Abu and covered its mouth tightly, afraid that it would say something it shouldn't.

“Na Ling, don’t worry about it. It’s just been frightened and hasn’t recovered yet…” Zhao Lin tried her best to act as a mediator, maintaining the last bit of connection between the group. But Na Ling didn’t respond to her.

Zhao Lin sighed helplessly and slumped back into her seat. A sense of powerlessness washed over her.

At this moment, her only wish was for this journey to end as soon as possible. Perhaps as long as she left this place, she could temporarily escape these turbulent thoughts. She closed her eyes, trying to relax.

Perhaps only time can slowly heal the wounds in her heart and allow her to rediscover her happy self.

everything will get better.

……

The scope reflected a blinding ray of light from the sun, flashing and disappearing behind the barbed wire fence surrounding the service area.

“Nathaniel… I knew that idiot couldn’t get anything done,” a man shrouded in a dark stealth suit muttered to himself. He rose from the concealed bushes and removed the scope from his sniper rifle. A hint of disappointment and anger flickered in his eyes.

Everything that had just happened was clearly visible through his magnifying glass.

“Get a car ready and follow them,” he said to the man who was also lurking in the corner. The man nodded in agreement.

"Oh, right, send a message to Musi. We've located Naling's exact location. If anything happens, arrest her immediately," the man said seriously.

After saying this, the man turned and walked away quickly. He walked until he reached the end of the grove, stopping only when the sunlight returned to him. He looked up at the sky.

In the sky, a lone eagle is circling, seemingly searching for something.

The man gazed at the eagle for a long time, a sense of emotion welling up within him. He knew that this eagle was his eyes, an irreplaceable "eye." Only through it could he see a farther and wider world.

Thinking of this, the man took a deep breath and then whistled a clear, crisp sound.

The eagle seemed to sense the man's intention and immediately flew over, landing steadily on his outstretched arm.

The man gently stroked the eagle's feathers, then took a piece of paper from his pocket and carefully tied it to its leg.

After doing all this, the man waved his hand, and the eagle spread its wings and soared into the sky, quickly disappearing into the heavens.

Naling, Naling, did you ultimately choose the wrong side?

The slightly yellowed animal tooth pendant swayed gently in the breeze, as if telling the story of its owner's inner turmoil and unease. The man reached out and gently straightened the pendant, feeling its familiar touch, and the restlessness in his heart gradually subsided.
