Boonie Bears: Another World Fantasy
Chapter 69 His World
"Ms. An, this is the research and development department of V Group."
Under the strange gazes of several guards, An Han, who had been feigning drunkenness, was swayed as Dong Hai put his arm around her waist and led her into the spacious and brightly lit office. The bright white walls were particularly dazzling under the fluorescent lights, causing An Han to squint and take the opportunity to look around for any potentially useful equipment.
Damn it! Where is Zi Xing?
She was secretly anxious. The whereabouts of the production line specifically used to produce Purple Stars was now a mystery, and this was one of her main objectives in infiltrating the V Group. Based on the intelligence she had previously gathered, this production line was likely hidden somewhere within this massive corporation, though its exact location was still unclear.
While subtly observing her surroundings, An Han secretly speculated: Such a large corporation must have facilities with security levels comparable to military bases to house its important equipment. Perhaps that mysterious production line is hidden in some underground workshop?
Donghai helped An Han to sit down on the sofa, then poured her a glass of water and asked with concern, "Ms. An, how are you feeling? Should I call the doctor to come and take a look?"
An Han took the water and drank a sip, deliberately speaking indistinctly, "I...I'm fine, just a little dizzy." She decided to continue pretending to be drunk to avoid arousing Dong Hai's suspicion.
Donghai smiled and said, "That's good. Miss An, please rest for a while. I'll take you to visit our largest laboratory in a little while." After saying that, he turned around and walked to his desk, picked up a document and began to read.
An Han's heart skipped a beat. Taking advantage of Dong Hai's inattention, she quietly got up and walked to the window, peering outside. Outside the office window was an indoor plant garden, shrouded in tranquility. She thought to herself, "If only I could find the entrance to the underground workshop from here."
Just then, the old professor's voice suddenly came: "Those indoor plants have given us a lot of trouble. Do you know what we use as fertilizer for them?"
"Some kind of fertilizer?" An Han turned her gaze elsewhere, seemingly unconcerned about their origins.
"Human ashes." His voice was full of surprise.
An Han raised her eyebrows in surprise and quickly turned around, instinctively wanting to get away from the place that had suddenly exuded an aura of death. Dong Hai, on the other hand, continued browsing the documents in his hands with a relaxed expression.
"Just kidding, it's just the ashes of some mammals, don't take it seriously."
An Han cursed inwardly, but still smiled and said, "Oh, Professor, you're really funny..."
"I hope this fake show of compliance ends soon!" An Han prayed.
Just then, footsteps sounded outside the office. Donghai stood up and said, "It must be my assistant. Let him show you around."
Before the words were finished, a young man pushed open the door and strode in with decisive steps. He took his glasses off his nose and looked at An Han with a slightly sharp gaze.
The man's chiseled, bony face looked familiar to An Han, but she couldn't recall any specific events related to him, so she could only temporarily avoid his gaze.
The man stepped forward and said a few words to Donghai, whose face turned extremely ugly. He then turned to An Han and said, "Miss An, please go with my assistant. He will take good care of you. If you need anything, please let me know."
Then, Donghai gave his assistant a deep look, his eyes flashing with a meaningful light. Then, he hurriedly left the room.
The large office was suddenly left with only An Han and her assistant. The air seemed to thicken instantly. An Han had a bad feeling; she had hoped to extract some useful information from this cunning old man, but now it seemed her plan had completely failed.
Without the slightest hesitation, An Han immediately strode towards the door.
As she passed by the man, she caught a whiff of a refreshing fragrance. That fragrance seemed to possess a magical power, instantly evoking memories of her uneventful university days.
Just then, the man suddenly reached out and grabbed An Han's wrist tightly. She was startled by this sudden action and instinctively tried to break free.
"What are you doing?" An Han shouted, her voice filled with fear and anger.
However, the man did not let go. Instead, he called out softly in a gentle tone, "Xiao Han..."
Hearing that familiar address, An Han's body trembled violently. She finally raised her head and looked directly at the man's face. However, when she saw his appearance clearly, her initial excitement plummeted like a rollercoaster ride.
“Shao…Shao Yi?” An Han raised her head and then slowly lowered it again, feeling flustered and unsure how to face her former college classmate.
Han Shaoyi stood there quietly, his eyes revealing an unfathomable depth. It seemed he had already seen through An Han's inner unease and struggle.
An Han tried to calm herself down: "I'm sorry... I have something to talk to Professor Donghai about..." As she spoke, she slowly pulled her hand away from Han Shaoyi's hand, her movements appearing somewhat stiff and unnatural.
However, just as she turned to leave, Han Shaoyi suddenly called out to her:
"Perhaps I have what you are looking for here."
An Han stopped in her tracks, not understanding why he suddenly said that, so she forced a smile: "I wasn't looking for anything."
Han Shaoyi took a step closer, lowered his head to An Han's face, and breathed on her face: "After all these years, you haven't changed, Xiao Han. Your lies are still so easy to see through."
An Han quickly turned her head to the side, deliberately avoiding his ambiguous aggressive gaze, and intentionally kept a certain distance from him.
“I have a boyfriend.” She stared at him, her eyes wide, her tone firm.
He sneered, straightened up, and disdainfully exposed her, saying, "Has Peng Fei ever given you a straight answer, Miss? Or is this just an excuse you use to comfort yourself?"
"It's none of your business. We have nothing to do with each other anymore anyway," she retorted defiantly. However, faced with this sudden turn of events, An Han's heart still couldn't help but beat faster.
"What methods did he use to bewitch you so much that you were willing to sleep with him?" He said this with a playful and mischievous expression, his tone full of teasing.
Upon hearing this, An Han clenched her fists instantly, as if she were eager to strike at any moment.
"I'm warning you, speaking recklessly will come at a price!" An Han's eyes widened in anger, her voice filled with barely suppressed rage.
However, Han Shaoyi seemed to have anticipated An Han's reaction. A sly smile appeared on his lips as he said, "Don't get so worked up. I was just saying it casually. How about we walk and talk, Miss?"
……
A hazy halo of light pierced her retina, while the bright white light was so intense that she could barely open her eyes. She tried to squint to adjust to the strong light, but everything before her remained blurry.
"Ya'er, you've finally come here?" A deep, aged voice echoed in her ears, as if it had traveled through time. The voice was both familiar and strange, filling her heart with an inexplicable sadness.
"grandfather?"
Naya fell into a pool of icy water, which only reached her ears. She tried to move her fingers, and the cold touch of the water sent a jolt through her body like an electric current.
I...I'm not already...
Naya didn't have the courage to think any further. The chest pierced by the giant sword was still throbbing with pain. She had died so tragically in front of Sharp...
Sharp... Zhao Lin... are they alright now?
As she finally stood up straight, a wave of dizziness washed over her, nearly causing her to fall again. Regaining her composure, Naya began to observe her surroundings. Beside the pool lay a desolate expanse of land, and in the distance stood an ancient building that looked like an abandoned temple or castle.
"Daughter of Naya, why did you leave the Holy Domain without permission?" With these words, time seemed to freeze. Just then, a dazzling golden light descended from the sky, like a falling star. Gradually, the light faded, and a massive, incredibly powerful stag appeared before Naya.
It strode forward, slowly approaching Naya. The stag exuded an awe-inspiring aura; its tall body was covered in a thick layer of golden fur, as if clad in a magnificent golden armor. On its broad, sturdy chest, a layer of deep blue down, like the sky, contrasted sharply with the gold, further emphasizing its mystery and nobility.
"Is it the Deer God? Is it really the Deer God?" Naya could hardly believe her eyes. Her eyes widened, and she clasped her hands tightly together in front of her chest. Suddenly, her legs went weak, and she knelt down in front of the Deer God with a thud.
Before this, although Naya had great awe and faith in the Deer God, she had never actually seen this legendary deity.
"Omnipotent Deer God, please save my friends! They are innocent and should not suffer like this. Even just temporarily freeing them from their predicament would be enough!" Tears welled in Naya's eyes as she gazed at Him, seeing hope in Him. The rippling water reflected Naya's face, filled with despair.
“This whole mess started because of me… It was my unauthorized harboring of outsiders that led to the collapse of the Holy Land again, disobeying the High Priest’s orders… and even developing feelings for someone from another race.” Naya’s voice grew softer and softer until it was almost inaudible. She couldn’t bear to drag Sharp into this conflict, after all, he had been taking care of her all along.
"Are you trying to take all the blame upon yourself, Naya? Or are you trying to absolve your foreign partner of guilt?" As the questioning voice rang out, the stag's tone grew increasingly stern, and a tense atmosphere seemed to permeate the entire space. Naya, who was being questioned, was already too frightened to raise her head, her body trembling slightly, maintaining a bowed posture.
"Alright, get up. Given your current condition, maintaining the status quo is already a feat; it's the result of my utmost effort." Perhaps seeing Naya's fear, or for some other reason, the stag's tone suddenly softened, and he turned and slowly walked away, leaving only golden light scattered on the ground. Naya breathed a sigh of relief, as if granted a pardon, but her body was still weak with fear. She struggled to her feet, wading through the water, and followed closely behind the stag.
"What do you know about that outsider?" He said as he walked, his steps steady, as if he didn't need to wait for Naya to catch up.
“I…” Naya opened her mouth, wanting to answer something, but found that she couldn’t say anything.
She followed silently behind, her heart churning with turmoil. Recalling her past interactions with Sharp, Naya suddenly realized that this seemingly familiar man was actually a complete stranger. She had always considered herself the one who knew him best, the one she could trust and rely on most. Yet, she now discovered that she had never truly understood him, not even once asking about his past.
Naya felt a wave of confusion and helplessness wash over her. She knew nothing about him, as if she were standing in a dark fog.
“Your courage is truly commendable, but you still lack experience in interacting with people,” His voice was calm and gentle. Hearing this, Naya's heart skipped a beat. She understood that He had been secretly observing her and Sharp's every move. Perhaps He was even present when Sharp collapsed in a pool of blood that day. And her desperate act of transferring the golden antlers to Sharp through her blood had likely not escaped His notice.
“I didn’t want to save him that day, but when I entered his spiritual realm, I saw something different.” As he said this, the stag finally stopped moving forward, and the man and the stag arrived in front of the temple “held up” by the wide pool of water in a special way.
At this moment, the surrounding environment became exceptionally quiet and solemn. In this tranquility, only the sound of the stag continued:
"He doesn't belong to our world; he came from a completely different one. Everything there is so different from what we know. This made me realize that he might bring some unexpected changes to us, or even to this world. Perhaps he is the key figure who can break the status quo and lead us to a new future..."
The stag blinked its crystal-clear eyes, and accompanied by a mysterious surge of power, the tightly closed, incredibly heavy door of the temple slowly opened from the inside out.
Behind this door, what lies before Naya is a long road that stretches as far as the eye can see.
“Go, go and see the world that belongs to him. When you reach the end, all his secrets will be revealed to you.” The stag remained standing quietly, gazing at Naya with its divine eyes.
"Sharp...is that really true?"
Naya couldn't help but whisper his name in her heart, while silently praying for him.
