Boonie Bears: Another World Fantasy
Chapter 56 Nightmare
She has an East Asian face and looks no different from an ordinary human.
At that moment, nearby soldiers swarmed around, armed with various weapons, ready to engage in battle. However, the strange woman who had seemingly appeared out of nowhere seemed completely unconcerned about the automatic rifles, pistols, and missile launchers aimed at her. This made Wei suspicious: Did she truly possess extraordinary skills? Or did she hold some other hidden secret? Perhaps it was this enigmatic quality that gave her such immense confidence.
After exchanging glances with a soldier of a higher rank, Wei slowly approached the uninvited guest.
“I’m the person in charge here.” Wei looked directly at Lefie without flinching and asked firmly, “What exactly do you want?”
"Actually, it's nothing special. I just wanted to chat with you." Lefie's captivating fox-like eyes blinked slightly, revealing countless complex emotions and delicate thoughts.
Will weighed her inexplicable condition. The military, however, seemed to think it was more worthwhile to detain this strange woman. He nodded in agreement. Seeing this, Lefebvre moved closer to Will with the grace of an elegant dancer.
However, at that moment, several armed men immediately stepped forward to protect Wei. These experienced soldiers, seeing Lefie's actions, watched her with nervous anticipation. Most of them had personally experienced fierce battles, but their training did not provide guidance on how to deal with close contact with such a eccentric person.
The atmosphere was incredibly tense; everyone was on edge. No one knew what would happen next, and they could only watch Lefève's every move intently.
"Hahaha, if you're not comfortable with that, you can tie me up—" She spread her arms wide, a relaxed smile on her face, as if demonstrating her harmlessness to the overly tense soldiers. She leaned forward slightly, seemingly gesturing for the soldiers to hurry up and bind her tightly.
However, a soldier nearby whispered, "Mr. Wei, this is probably not the best option. We have no idea who she is, nor do we know her purpose or background. Doing so could cause more trouble."
Will nodded, staring at the bright red symbol on Lefève's face, pondering to himself. The symbol was not unfamiliar to him; with his keen insight, Will had already made a rough guess about Lefève's identity.
"Take her into the temporary shelter; there's a separate supply room there. Settle her in there first, I'll go talk to her," he calmly instructed.
Lefebvre sat quietly in the white isolation room opposite Wei, her handcuffed hands resting on her knees. Without needing to guess, Lefebvre knew perfectly well that they were under the close surveillance of countless cameras, scanners, and recording devices. She understood that she was now facing a large audience, people who were likely watching her every move in various ways.
“Since we’ve come this far, I’ll get straight to the point, ma’am,” Wei said bluntly, without making any attempt to conceal anything.
"Are you a member of the Deer Clan?" His eyes were sharp, as if he had already grasped some crucial information.
Faced with Will's questioning, Lefève merely lowered his gaze slightly, then smiled to brush off the answer, neither confirming nor denying. However, this subtle change in expression only made Will more certain of his suspicions.
“You’re still very tense. I see your subordinates preparing tranquilizers,” Lefie said softly, easily seeing through Will’s little trick, making him feel a little embarrassed and uneasy.
Will was secretly surprised. He had thought that having a backup plan would be safe, but he hadn't expected to be so vulnerable in front of her. However, Will wasn't thrown off balance by Lefie's words. He took a deep breath and tried to regain his composure.
“This is just in case. After all, we don’t know you,” Wei explained, his eyes revealing wariness and distrust.
“You won’t need it,” she sneered, seemingly dismissive of the weapon in Wei’s hand. “Even if you did, I doubt it would be effective against me.”
The deer-woman's confidence was both unsettling and infuriating. She had displayed extraordinary sensory acuity, as if she harbored countless unrevealed secrets. The imposing, form-fitting uniform clung to her agile body, making one wonder what strange abilities or mysterious powers lay hidden beneath.
Wei clenched his fist, his eyes fixed on the deer-man in front of him. He took a deep breath and issued orders to the surrounding soldiers through the walkie-talkie.
"Take them all down."
After receiving instructions, the soldiers quickly and orderly withdrew from the scene, leaving only Wei and the mysterious deer-man in a standoff.
Lefie smiled slightly, moved her fingers, and the seemingly indestructible handcuffs opened as easily as if they were made of paper, with a crisp sound. She calmly stood up from the table and walked slowly towards Wei with light steps.
“I know what you want.” Lefie’s voice was subtly enigmatic, and a broken purple antler suddenly appeared in her palm. The antler emitted a faint glow, as if containing boundless power. Meeting Weina’s incredulous gaze, she presented this precious item to him.
“Day after day, year after year, I’m afraid you’ve become helpless in capturing her alive, haven’t you?” Lefebvre deliberately leaned close to Will’s ear and whispered. Her words were like the low murmur of a demon, sending a chill down Will’s spine. “And she is now in my hands.”
Will's eyes widened as he stared intently at Lefie before him. He couldn't believe that the "Snow Woman," who had just bankrupted him, had fallen so easily into this woman's hands. Will had to admit that she certainly had enough leverage to negotiate with him.
"How about this gift, Mr. Genius?" Lefebvre's lips curled into a smug smile. "This is enough to prove my sincerity, isn't it?" She knew perfectly well what the antlers in her hand meant to Wei, and at this moment, she firmly held the initiative in this transaction.
"Let's lay our cards on the table!" The deer-man raised his voice, his gaze fixed intently on Wei, as if trying to see through his inner fear and unease.
"You're afraid of me because you can't control me at all. Now and in the future, you should never dream of being able to influence my actions. However, please don't misunderstand, this doesn't mean I'll become your enemy." Her words were like a clear spring, extinguishing Wei's doubts, but at the same time leaving him confused.
Will looked at Lefie and said in a deep voice, "Alright, since that's the case, state your terms. What do you want from me?"
A barely perceptible smirk crept onto her lips. She gently patted the seat beside her, then gracefully sat back down.
Everything is under control.
“It seems we share a common goal.” Lefie’s voice carried an inexplicable confidence, causing Wei to glance at her sideways. She continued, “Your men once hunted down a girl named Naya, didn’t they?”
Before Wei could recover, Lefie continued, "I hope you can help me conceal some truths that are about to surface and convey them to the residents of that town, so they can get far away before I raze it to the ground. Of course, if they cooperate, perhaps a bloody massacre can be avoided..."
......
Sharp stood silently by the window, his eyes fixed on the surging, rolling dark clouds outside. The room was quiet, with only the slight sound of the wind seeping in through the cracks in the window.
Naya, her hair loose, sat on the edge of the bed, her fingers gently tracing the deer pattern on her forehead. Suddenly, her face contorted with pain, and her brows furrowed tightly.
“Little Naya?” Sharp’s voice was full of concern and worry, but he made no attempt to hide it. He went straight to Naya and sat down beside her. He pulled a blanket over himself and wrapped it around her as well.
As time passed, rings of golden light gradually emanated from Naya's body. These lights, like mysterious runes, coiled around her, speaking of some unknown power.
“The golden antlers…it seems to be…speaking to me.” Naya’s voice carried a hint of doubt and fear, evoking pity in one’s heart. She closed her eyes tightly, trying to listen to the voice coming from the depths of her heart, but the voice was faint and elusive.
Sharp looked at Naya quietly, a strong urge to protect her welling up inside him.
“Tell me, how are you feeling right now?” He leaned closer to Naya and asked gently in a low voice. Naya’s eyes were a little confused. She shook her head and replied, “I… I really don’t know how to say it.” This feeling easily evokes anxiety, but it’s impossible to describe it accurately in words.
Seeing Naya's bewildered expression, Sharp reached out and carefully combed through her brown hair, then slowly placed his lips on her forehead, indicating that he understood.
Anyway, everything should be made clear before dating, and then be a little more ambiguous after dating. That's the most basic thing, right? Zhao Lin's words came back to mind.
You're quite the talker, Reporter Zhao.
After a long period of contemplation and struggle, Sharp finally made his decision, the one that had troubled him for months. A slight smile played on his lips, a look of relief spreading across his face. This decision, though difficult, was his true feeling.
“Sharp, I want to go for a walk,” she whispered, meeting his deep gaze. Tiny golden energies flowed from her fingertips, connected with Sharp’s chest, and then returned to her hand.
"Let's go."
The two got dressed and left the hotel they had been making their home for the past few days.
“Now, everything is moving faster and faster,” Sharp thought to himself. He wasn’t just referring to the feelings between the two of them, or rather, not entirely.
The two walked to a restaurant in the town, where Sharp stopped, and Naya stopped as well.
Seeing Sharp's serious expression, Naya couldn't help but feel worried. She was about to ask him if he was feeling unwell when he preemptively asked her a question that caught her off guard.
“Little Naya, there are some things I need to make clear to you,” he said, his voice low. Naya’s heart tightened; she sensed that the conversation that was about to begin might be very difficult for him to say, but she nodded anyway, indicating that she was willing to listen.
“Remember when I told you in the Enchanted Forest that I’m a blogger who loves adventure, right… and then I got lost in there.”
“Yes.” Naya’s voice was calm, but beneath that calmness seemed to lie a hint of expectation.
"That's fake, it's a lie I made up." As he said this, he didn't even dare to look Naya in the eye, afraid that she would be disappointed.
"My true identity is actually—" Before he could finish speaking, a sudden, sharp pain struck him, as if an invisible hand had gripped his heart tightly. The immense pain instantly made it hard for Sharp to breathe; he doubled over in agony, cold sweat pouring down his forehead.
"What are you trying to do, Sharp? Are you planning to reveal your true identity to her—" The figure, usually invisible, appeared before him in such a bizarre way for the first time. At the same time, time seemed to freeze, and all the pedestrians on the street stood motionless like statues. Short-haired Sharp flashed behind him like a ghost, speaking in an extremely twisted and terrifying tone.
“I told you, didn’t I? Once your identity is exposed, the basic order here will be completely disrupted. Of course, I can overturn everything and let you start over, or I can make everyone here forget you, but don’t be complacent just because you’ve tasted a little success.” His eyes, hidden in the shadows, stared intently at Sharp, revealing a hint of coldness and threat.
"Don't forget, everything here is fake. If you get too involved in the role, you'll only harm everyone you come into contact with."
A gentle breeze blew, stirring up a few fallen leaves. Sharp, enduring the excruciating pain in his body, struggled to straighten up. Although he knew he was no match for him, something deep within him compelled him to persevere.
"What the hell do you want?!" Sharp gritted his teeth, his facial muscles contorted with rage, his eyes wide open as if spitting fire, his roar deafening.
“Of course, I’ll grant your wish.” He looked at Sharp expressionlessly, his tone so calm it was frightening. Then, his gaze slowly shifted to Naya, who was trapped in time, scrutinizing her from head to toe as if assessing the value of an object.
“What a perfect girl…” he said softly, a hint of regret flashing in his eyes, “It’s just a pity that the ending that awaited her was not so perfect.”
Upon hearing this, Sharp's eyes dimmed, his lips trembled slightly as if he wanted to say something, but in the end he only let out a heavy sigh.
"If you really can't hold on any longer, don't force yourself. It's still the same condition: kill her with your own hands, and you can go back to real life and reunite with your sister." These words struck Sharp's chest like a heavy hammer, filling him with indescribable pain and despair.
He knew the other person wasn't joking. But the condition was far too heavy. He couldn't bring himself to kill this girl who was just beginning to embrace the beauty of her youth…
Each heartbeat became more difficult, causing Sharp to break out in a cold sweat, which he could no longer distinguish as sweat or tears of sorrow.
As he finished speaking, short-haired Sharp disappeared into a puddle of water. The world returned to normal, and pedestrians resumed their hustle and bustle, as if everything that had just happened was merely an illusion...
"Sharp? What's wrong?!"
After a brief pause in time, Naya saw the sudden scene before her and rushed forward. Sharp was curled up on the ground, his body trembling slightly, like a child who had been beaten. She knelt down and carefully pulled Sharp into her arms.
Naya's beautiful eyes glistened with tears, filled with heartache. She gently rubbed Sharp's face with her fingertips, unwilling to use too much force.
"Idiot, I don't care about your status, I just want you to be alright..." she choked out.
Sharp didn't say anything, but simply nestled silently in Naya's arms, feeling the warmth and care that belonged only to her.
Having been here for so long, this was the first time he had ever leaned on someone like this.
