Boonie Bears: Another World Fantasy

Chapter 150: Thunderstorm Clouds

Chapter 150: Thunderstorm Clouds (Part 2)

Deep city.

Rainwater gently slid down his raincoat and across his shoulders. Bald Qiang seemed to sense something; he looked up and stared into the deep darkness for a long time.

In the firelight, a person moved with the wind and suddenly appeared before him.

"Long time no see, Bald Qiang." To show respect, Naya chose to land in front of him. This distance made the deer markings on her face appear slightly faded, but it also gave her a maturity she had never seen before.

"I guess Zhao Lin is inside, right?" She could hear the chaotic sounds of fighting through the rain.

"I hope you're not too late, Naya," Bald Qiang said thankfully.

I never imagined that a small golden antler would cause such turmoil in the entire city of Shenzhen. Even I, many years ago, could not have foreseen this.

"Isn't this because of what happened in the forest?" he asked, staring at Naya.

“No.” She stepped onto the steps, seemingly not intending to linger there any longer. “The forest cannot escape its fate of destruction, and I think… I should let go of the past.”

He didn't know what had happened, but the woman before him was completely different from the one in the Enchanted Forest. Standing before him now was a warrior who was invincible.

"Aren't you coming with us? Zhao Lin might need your help," Naya invited.

Looking down at the despairing scene in Shenzhen, Bald Qiang recalled his past glory and—

cost.

“This is your story. An old man like me is long gone and can’t be of much help anymore.” He smiled wryly, then took out something from his pocket to give to Naya. “But I think she can definitely help you.”

A polished, shiny round stone gleamed in his hand. Naya took it and carefully examined the circular runes engraved on it.

"Mountain God?"

This reminded her of the terrifying scene when White Bear Mountain erupted, with lava spewing out and indiscriminately engulfing everything around it.

“If this is something even we can’t do, then we can only let the gods do it for us,” Bald Qiang said calmly. “Genius Wei thinks he can control her, but he has absolutely underestimated her abilities.”

His finger pointed to the location of the V Group headquarters. Even though the entire city of Shenzhen was nearing its fall, it was still operating at full capacity.

"Go find her, and when the mountain god breaks free of her bonds, the sun will rise again—"

The continuous thunder drowned out Naya's inner roar. She took one last look at Bald Qiang, then free-fell into the air.

If that moment truly comes... if it's truly impossible to stop one's own people from making one mistake after another...

Then I'll have to destroy the Golden Antlers myself.

……

"Mother, Father, I have bad news for you."

"The Heavenly Fire has been activated again."

"And I have no means to stop it anymore."

"Without their help, I couldn't have accomplished this alone..."

Abu, panting heavily, leaned against the wall at the corner of the corridor, surrounded by rows of guards. Almost ten days had passed since the explosion, and its wounds, still unhealed, had been hiding in the city's sewers until its armor once again detected the signal to activate Skyfire—

A beeping scanning sound came from the wall. Abu alertly closed his head armor and sprinted towards the Purple Star storage area on all fours.

The self-propelled artillery units belonging to V Group began indiscriminately demolishing all walls except for load-bearing ones. Detectors emitted crimson lights, and the machines shared all of Abu's hiding routes. The tricky part was that when Abu finally reached the storage area, it was like a trap deliberately prepared for him by Wei. The warehouse, which should have been full of goods, had been completely cleared out, with no cover available for dozens of meters away.

More artillery units joined the pursuit, scrambling through the tunnels into the warehouse, completely trapping Abu inside. The place was transformed into a battlefield of death.

After circling around, Abu had nowhere to hide. Once the turret locked onto its target, it began unleashing a hail of ammunition. It dared not linger in one place for too long, desperately searching for an opportunity to break out.

The Leyter armor was bombarded by a barrage of bullets, and some parts were already shattered. Abu had no choice but to jump into the blind spot of a self-propelled turret to buy himself a brief respite.

The metal lump began to shake violently, and Abu desperately dodged the armor-piercing rounds coming from all directions. Everywhere he looked, there were flying fragments and sparks.

"Unknown object detected approaching rapidly. Activating fixed bunker mode—"

After a while, the self-propelled turrets unanimously chose to abandon their attack on Abu and instead turned their units toward the entrance of the warehouse, locking onto something with their long guns and short cannons.

The entire building seemed to have been struck hard by something, something that crashed all the way from the top floor of headquarters to the first floor. Even several heavy security doors were smashed open. A beam of light slanted in, knocking the guards on the first floor off their feet. A longsword flew out, spinning, cleaving most of the obstacles in two. Then, Naya grabbed the hilt and charged forward at lightning speed.

She was like a human tank. Facing the fierce onslaught of enemies around her, Naya remained unfazed. She smashed through the thick walls that tried to block her way, bricks flying and dust billowing. In the blink of an eye, she broke through the encirclement and charged forward relentlessly, leaving her stunned enemies far behind.

"Damn it, kill her!"

Seeing this sudden scene on the monitor, Wei was somewhat flustered; the shadow cast by Naya at Bear Ridge still lingered...

"Don't let that deer-man in!"

As she spoke, Naya overturned all the guards in the passageway, leading directly to the warehouse entrance where Abu was trapped.

That place now houses the most lethal firepower facilities in the entire V Group.

"Highest level of alert warning... Security measures activated, all entrances and exits sealed off."

Multiple entrances were blocked by hydraulic doors. Filled with rage, Naya stepped over the scattered bodies on the ground and arrived at the largest hydraulic door.

The monitor on the door was still watching her every move. Naya stared back at it, seeing through the constantly adjusting camera how panicked the person behind the screen had become.

Just what she wanted.

The more afraid they were, the more it fueled her fighting spirit.

The feathers at her waist were once again stained with inky black. Naya stretched her arms nimbly, and an aura of death, the kind only a high priest would possess, rose from her feet to the top of her head, lingering on her armor for a long time.

"Boom! Boom! Boom!"

The roar came through the warehouse door, and at the same time, several large dents were smashed into the alloy door panel until the entire device was completely destroyed.

"Bang! Smash—"

The self-propelled turrets closest to the gate were the first to suffer, smashed to pieces by the flying gate. Next came the bright, blurry figures, too fast for even a bullet belt to catch, which instantly plunged into the turret mass.

"!" This thrilled Abu immensely. He landed behind the turret and followed her through the space where countless mechanical legs intertwined.

With a light touch of her toes on the ground, Naya's pupils shimmered with golden rings of flowing energy. The scorching longsword hummed in her palm, the vibrations of the blade cutting through the air intertwining with the wailing alarm to create a prelude to death.

Hydraulic oil spurted from the joints of the self-propelled turret, its attack showing no sign of stopping. Naya spun and leaped into the air, her sword tracing a crescent-shaped arc, as metal heads on the turret tumbled off one after another. Her heel precisely struck the energy core of a wreck, using the blast wave to somersault through the laser net, the severed laser beams shattering into silver fragments behind her.

With the final titanium alloy gate before her, Naya plunged her longsword into the ground with a backhand motion. The blade tore along the energy pipeline, and in the instant sparks erupted, she burst through the crack into the central hub that Wei had set up here—the weakened mountain god, his limbs stretched into a "T" shape by chains, was imprisoned in the furnace, unable to move.

Countless streams of data surged across the spherical holographic screen. Just as Naya's fingertips touched the control panel, the floor in front of her suddenly collapsed, and three killing machines riddled with chainsaws emerged from the ground.

Later, Abu jumped onto Naya's shoulder, and the two exchanged a glance and understood each other perfectly.

“Genius Wei, is this all you’re capable of?” Naya asked, head held high.

“You’re disgusting, Naya,” Wei said tauntingly through a megaphone via the bulletproof glass from the cockpit of one of the mechs. “I should have thrown your body into the lava!”

You are no match for me. This was the unspoken subtext of Naya's statement.

The duel unfolded amidst a deluge of data. Her blade clashed with the chainsaw, sparks flying, and fragments of the mechs rained down. As the last mech locked her sword into the gears, she suddenly released it, ripping off its spinal cord with her bare hands and plunging the exposed cable into the central interface. Overloaded current surged back along the data link, holographic screens shattered one after another, and Wei's roar and the screams of system collapse erupted simultaneously.

She punched through the glass window separating her and Wei, dragging his dying body away:

"My nation will always remember who started that war, and who fanned the flames behind the scenes to reap the benefits."

Contrary to Wei's expectations, the deer tribesmen's weapons did not fall on him. Abu, too, showed no intention of rushing forward to kill him. Seeing this, Wei sneered inwardly, deciding to hold nothing back and fully unleash his meticulously planned final move.

"Do you really think this is the end, Deer Clan? In a little while, you'll probably regret... why you didn't rush back to reunite with your family and catch up with them right away."

His gaze lingered on Naya for a moment before slowly shifting to Abu.

This is the price you pay for betraying me, Abu.

As soon as he finished speaking, he reached into his robes and pulled out a small, exquisite bottle. Inside was the unrefined, highly concentrated Purple Star reagent he had prepared beforehand. Genius Wei had already anticipated this, tilting his head back and drinking the entire bottle of reagent down to the last drop.

"Damn it! He committed suicide!" Abu's eyes widened, and he quickly jumped onto Wei's body, placing his palm on his chest.

Wei's heart had completely stopped beating.

"No time for this, Abu." Naya rushed to Tian Mengting's side, who was completely frozen, and couldn't help but sigh. "Another innocent victim..."

"This heartless madman keeps saying he wants to save his sister, but behind her back he's using her as a test subject!" Abu stopped the machine that was injecting the mountain god's blood into the capsule. But despairingly, despite stopping the transfusion, Tian Mengting's condition didn't improve at all. A layer of frost, now conscious, covered her slender body, turning her into a complete ice sculpture.

Naya stood amidst the crumbling steel ruins, her knight's longsword reforming. Her gaze swept over the scattered data fragments—the heart of the deep city, that was the true battlefield. The current fighting was merely a trivial prologue.

"Crack! Click!"

She fearlessly rushed into the furnace that imprisoned the mountain god and decisively cut the chains binding Tuanzi.

As the intense heat dissipated and the chill once again enveloped the area, the god of White Bear Mountain opened his eyes from the furnace...

Naya's entire body was enveloped in a sphere of flowing energy, resisting the bone-chilling cold emanating from the dumpling. The two opposing forces of ice and fire intertwined and collided, unleashing dazzling energy fluctuations.

Naya revealed the rune stone that Bald Qiang had given her to Tuanzi. A faint blue light emanated from the rune stone, illuminating Tuanzi's face hidden behind the thick fog. She exhaled a chilling breath of hatred.

"Tuanzi... no, whatever you are called, my companions are suffering inhumane persecution! So today you only have two paths before you: either willingly pledge allegiance to me, or accept death and disappear from this world forever!" Naya's tone was firm, and she raised her sword high without hesitation, pointing it directly at the mountain god before her.

A deafening roar erupted from the cooling furnace, causing Abu to stagger backward. Naya, standing at the forefront, her face contorted with rage, bravely withstood the onslaught of the blizzard.

The blizzard intensified, and Tuanzi's humanoid form began to twist and deform. It reverted to its original shape, its massive body easily shattering the central infrastructure, causing the entire ground to tremble violently. The King of the North raised his head to the sky, letting out a long roar that echoed through the night.

The deer knight, unfazed, returned the runestone to Tuanzi. Tuanzi lowered its head slightly, gesturing for Naya to climb onto its broad back. Naya, carrying Abu, leaped onto Tuanzi's back, pointing their swords towards the final battleground.

"For all those who sacrificed themselves in the war between heaven and earth!"
