Boonie Bears: Another World Fantasy

Chapter 10 The City of Sunset (Part 2)

"We deeply sympathize with all parties regarding the devastating damage caused to Shenzhen by an unknown weather phenomenon. Furthermore, An Shaohui, the former chairman of the Sunset Group, tragically lost his life in the disaster..."

"Sunset Group held a funeral ceremony today to commemorate this great company founder, but An Shaohui's only daughter, An Han, was not present at the event..."

"Miss, there are only 30 minutes left before the museum exhibition begins—"

However, An Han seemed not to hear at all, staring intently at the news report playing on the wall-mounted television, her face ashen and her expression extremely gloomy.

The butler glanced helplessly at his watch, knowing full well that at this moment, there was only one thing that could capture the young lady's attention.

"The person being interviewed today is none other than Zhao Lin, the leading lady of the Daily News."

"Ah……"

Upon hearing this, An Han let out a disdainful sneer from her nose, while gripping the wine glass in her hand so tightly that her fingers began to tremble slightly.

"I have other important matters to attend to today, so please don't cause me any trouble. I don't want to have to pick you up when you're completely drunk after the exhibition."

"Shut up, Karl! This is my personal matter, and it's none of your business." An Han suddenly raised her head, glared fiercely at her butler, and then tilted her head back to drink the rest of the red wine in her glass in one gulp.

"Go and get the car ready."

Back in her room, An Han went into the bathroom, turned on the shower, and let the warm water wash over her body, washing away the day's fatigue. She gently rubbed her skin, enjoying the fragrance of the shower gel and the softness of the foam.

After showering, An Han walked to the wardrobe and carefully took out the black, high-waisted mini-dress that she had kept there since she bought it—worth over a thousand dollars. The dress seemed to exude a mysterious aura, waiting for its owner to once again display its charm.

An Han sat in front of the vanity and lightly sprayed on some cologne. The fragrance instantly filled the entire dressing room. Then, she picked up a vibrant lipstick and carefully applied it to her lips; the alluring red instantly brightened her face.

Standing up, An Han walked to the full-length mirror and gazed at herself. The fitted dress clung tightly to her figure, perfectly outlining her curves, which rivaled those of a professional model, making her exceptionally alluring. Her long, slender legs, smooth as ancient jade, stood straight, adorned with high heels whose toes were covered in pure gold snake scales, shimmering with dazzling light.

Time ticked by, the clock hands moving slowly. Warm light fell on An Han's face, illuminating her serene expression. Her high ponytail swayed gently with the slight movement of her head, adding a touch of youthful vitality. Yet, at this moment, An Han exuded a maturity and composure beyond her years, making it hard to believe she was only 24.

“You know, Carl, my dad used to mold me into a model and a star—” Anhan walked up to the black business sedan, her expression subtle.

“Of course I know, you’ve been on the cover of fashion magazines before,” Karl replied dismissively, guessing he was the only one here who dared to touch her fur against the grain.

"Miss, in my eyes you're just a child who'll never grow up." The car started moving as he spoke.

“Yes, so I’m considering whether or not to fire you.” She leaned back on the sofa in the back seat, her eyelids lowered.

"Then I would be more than happy to accept that."

The old butler said with a smile.

……

1:50.

The museum was packed with people.

Around the temporary stage set up in the hall, elites from all walks of life gathered to chat about their expertise and the current state of affairs in their respective fields. Well-dressed waiters, holding champagne glasses, moved with the ease of dolphins navigating a school of fish.

"No thanks."

Zhao Lin smiled and declined the glass of red wine offered by the waiter, thinking to herself: What if I ruin the interview later because I had an extra sip of wine?

Zhao Lin, who was gradually adapting to this way of working, didn't mind, but her "new partner," who was mainly responsible for photography and videography, was in a different state.

"Sister Lin, I'm so panicked..."

Xiao Ke kept adjusting the camera she would be using later. Before she even started, the little girl's forehead was already sweating.

“I was transferred here temporarily… I’ve never done an interview shoot before…” she said with some frustration, keeping her head down.

Seeing her like this, Zhao Lin smiled and patted her on the shoulder.

"The daily newspaper is short-staffed right now. The fact that you came shows that the editor-in-chief trusts your abilities."

Xiao Ke couldn't help but laugh when she heard this.

"Hehe... Sister Lin really knows how to compliment people."

While Zhao Lin was looking in another direction, Xiao Ke secretly glanced at her, her heart filled with longing for her current appearance.

When will I be able to "hold the pass by single-handedly" like that?

"By the way, Sister Lin, why did your former partner leave?" Xiao Ke asked curiously, completely unaware of what was going on behind the scenes. Little did she know that this question had already deeply touched Zhao Lin's sore spot.

"he……"

Just as Zhao Lin was about to make up a reason, she was drawn to the increasingly heated discussion outside the hall. Sure enough, accompanied by blinding flashes of light, the crowd gradually parted to make way for her.

A black vintage car was parked in front of the museum, but it was not the object of people's attention.

She saw Peng Fei.

Unlike the man she saw on the rooftop the day before yesterday, Peng Fei now had a completely different identity and appeared before her in a more dazzling way.

He was no longer the reliable and dedicated photography partner, but had become someone else's prized possession.

Amidst the continuous clicking of camera shutters, she made her appearance.

An Han dressed even more eye-catchingly than before, like a top-tier celebrity, her gold-plated high heels sparkling like Sirius under the flashing lights.

"Wow--"

Xiao Ke, who was standing to the side, couldn't help but exclaim in surprise.

"Oh, it's her! She's the one we'll be interviewing later!!"

Seeing Xiaojian's excitement as if she were meeting her idol, Zhao Lin's eyes dimmed, and she replied with a nonchalant "Mm." She glanced at the time on her phone; it was exactly two o'clock.

I don't know why, but I'm in so much pain right now, an indescribable discomfort, like my heart is being torn apart.

Peng Fei stood very close to An Han, and the latter looked at him with eyes full of affection.

The exhibition proceeded as scheduled, but Zhao Lin could no longer bear to watch and retreated to a corner by herself.

She shouldn't have taken this job... or rather, if she could do something else, she probably would have left this place by now. She could take early leave, get paid, and go back to see old friends she hadn't seen in years—

"really……"

"Trouble is something we bring upon ourselves..."
