Bloody Kyoto

Chapter 11 Obtaining the Puppet Incense Recipe

Before Li Nanle even entered the dilapidated temple, she saw a figure running quickly toward her.

Little Tiger learned from his friends that Manager Qian was dead, so he waited for his sister in black robes at the entrance of the dilapidated temple.

He waited until evening, during which time he was very worried, fearing that the woman in the black robe had been captured by the person behind Manager Qian.

Upon seeing her, he ran straight towards her without thinking, intending to kowtow to her.

"boom!"

When he was five steps away from her, he knelt down heavily and kowtowed three times.

"Little Tiger thanks you for your great kindness, sister. If there is anything you need from me in the future, please don't hesitate to ask."

Looking at the little tiger with a broken head in front of her, Li Nanle said indifferently, "No need to thank me. Helping you get revenge was just a side thing. The main thing is that I need to vent."

The old beggar trembled involuntarily when he heard her last words in the dilapidated temple.

She's a little scary!

His way of venting his anger was through murder.

When Xiaohuzi heard her say this, he didn't feel that anything was wrong.

Regardless of whether the older sister did it incidentally or not, she truly avenged her younger sister.

"Sister, are you hurt?"

Xiao Huzi got up and looked Li Nanle up and down, trying to see if she was injured, but she was dressed in a black robe and he couldn't see anything.

"How could you get injured killing a shopkeeper who has no martial arts skills?"

Li Nanle replied as he walked toward the dilapidated temple.

Little Tiger was immediately filled with admiration for her words that killing a person was like killing a chicken.

"Sister, are you still doing experiments today?" He limped after her and walked beside her.

Li Nanle glanced at him out of the corner of her eye and saw that he was limping, knowing that it was because he had knelt too hard just now.

"Yes, we need to conduct an experiment."

Upon hearing this, Little Tiger grinned and said, "Sister will definitely succeed today."

As she approached the entrance of the dilapidated temple, the old beggar smiled and stepped aside to let her in.

Upon seeing her arrive, the quick-witted little beggar tidied up a space, and even wiped the limping stool clean.

"Sister, please sit down!" All the beggars in the dilapidated temple liked this mysterious sister who had never shown her face, because she had given them silver and they had been eating very well these past few days.

The big pot is still simmering with the meat bones that the beggar grandpa bought, while the small pot is simmering with corn porridge.

Before sitting down, Li Nanle tossed the bundle in his hand to the old beggar, saying, "Distribute it among them."

The old beggar could smell the aroma of the noodles even without opening the package. He said to the young beggars, "Hurry up and thank your sister."

"Thank you sister!"

A group of children of varying sizes bowed to her in unison to express their gratitude.

Little Tiger ran up to her, "Sister, shall we start now?"

Just as Li Nanle was about to say that they should start after they finished eating, the old beggar said, "There will be no experiment today. Grandpa wants to talk to your sister. Go and eat quickly."

He ignored the creepy stares behind him, opened the bundle Li Nanle had given him, and distributed a steamed bun and a mantou to each person. In the end, there were still several left in the bundle.

Li Nanle was naturally unhappy about being made a decision for by others, especially after learning that Yunxia had been murdered, her personality became even colder.

Xiao Huzi nervously accepted the steamed buns and mantou, glancing between Li Nanle and the beggar grandpa, unsure of what to do.

After distributing the steamed buns and mantou, the old beggar turned around, straightened his back, and stared sharply at Li Nanle.

"Young lady, if you want to trap someone quickly, this old beggar has a way. Would you like to hear it?"

After saying that, he walked out.

Li Nanle's eyes lit up, and she got up and followed him out.

Some of the younger beggars saw the grandfather go out and wanted to follow, but were stopped by the older beggars.

"Grandpa has something to say to my sister, so let's not disturb him."

"Eat your steamed buns and mantou obediently, and there will be bone broth to drink later."

After calming the little ones down, Xiao Huzi glanced outside worriedly, wondering what his grandfather and sister were going to talk about. He hoped they wouldn't have a conflict.

On the sheltered slope outside the dilapidated temple, Li Nanle stared intently at the old beggar.

Based on his observations over the past few days, the old beggar knew that the person in front of him harbored a deep-seated hatred, and he was certain that the source of this hatred was the death of Madam Gu.

Madam Gu had done them a great favor, and the person in front of them had helped Little Tiger's sister avenge her, and had also given them silver and food.

From any perspective, he should lend a helping hand when she is in trouble.

“Young lady, although I am now an old beggar, my ancestors were once very powerful. However, my clan was wiped out a hundred years ago, which led to my great-grandfather’s generation having to live in anonymity.”

The old beggar looked dejected. Li Nanle didn't want to hear about his family's past, but in order to get the formula for hypnotizing people, she patiently listened.

I thought he was going to go on and on about what happened after his family fell into ruin, but to my surprise, he cut straight to the point in his next sentence.

"The reason why the old beggar family was hunted down was because our family was a family of incense makers, and one of the incenses was the reason that led to the destruction of our family."

"This incense is the puppet incense that can make people temporarily obey."

Li Nanle's eyes lit up. If she had this incense recipe, she could easily get the information she wanted to know.

Even though it was already dark, the old beggar could still clearly see the changes in her expression.

“Young lady, the old beggar can give you the incense recipe, but you have to promise me one thing.”

"Please say!"

"I hope the young lady doesn't let anyone discover the existence of the puppet incense, otherwise it will cause great chaos."

"can!"

Li Nanle agreed readily. She just wanted to know some information, and once she learned it, the person involved would definitely be killed.

Therefore, this incense will absolutely never have a chance to be exposed.

The old beggar stared at her for a while, and realizing that she wasn't just giving him the runaround, he stepped closer and told her the recipe.

As Li Nanle spoke, his consciousness entered the space and he wrote it down with a pen.

"Thank you very much, senior. I am deeply grateful." She clasped her hands in a fist and bowed slightly, her attitude sincere.

She then took out a stack of silver notes from her spatial storage, and stretched out her hand from under her black robe, saying, "These are for you. You can buy a house with your children and live a peaceful life."

The old beggar didn't refuse. He took the silver note, pondered for a moment, and said, "Miss, consider this silver note as payment for the incense recipe. We're even now."

Li Nanle was taken aback by these words, then a bitter smile appeared on his face beneath the black robe. He had guessed what she was probably going to do and was in a hurry to distance himself from her.

But it's good, she's also afraid that one day someone will find out and implicate the children in the dilapidated temple.

"Okay, we're even. Goodbye forever!"

After saying that, she turned and left without waiting for the old beggar to reply.

The old beggar watched her retreating figure and sighed heavily. He didn't want things to turn out this way either, but he knew she was about to clash with the powerful figures in the capital.

He noticed something was wrong when Madam Gu was buried.

Because the funeral procession wasn't a proper one; it was just a horse-drawn carriage carrying an ordinary coffin, which they secretly and casually buried in a hole dug on the mountain.

He knew that Madam Gu was in the coffin because he wanted Madam Gu to help treat Xiaohuzi's sister's leg, so he kept an eye on the Fu family and found out from a gossipy servant's complaint.

Watching the clandestine funeral, he felt a chill run through him. He knew that Madam Gu's death was definitely not natural; she had been murdered.

With limited manpower, he could neither avenge her nor arrange a proper funeral for her.

Out of gratitude for the past favor, he could only secretly follow the carriage to find out where Madam Gu was buried so that he could pay his respects in the future.

Cutting ties with this mysterious girl would be ungrateful of him, but he couldn't abandon the children in the dilapidated temple.

Now we can only sincerely pray that this girl's wish will be fulfilled.
