I was transported from Lobotomy Corporation to another world.
Chapter 5 Understanding
Reed followed the farmers into the village, which was in a European style.
Red thought the way the houses and villagers dressed up looked like the anime he had watched before.
The farmer said he needed to meet with the village chief, and Reed simply nodded in agreement.
Red looked at the sky and estimated it was around 6 PM. The sun was setting, and it would probably be completely dark by 7 PM.
There were very few pedestrians, and those who were there were just talking and chatting.
Reed didn't really care about finding a place to stay; he just wanted to confirm whether there were any humans in this world.
After discovering that there were humans present and that they were behaving normally, we felt relieved.
I don't know what I would do if there were no humans in this world.
"Sir, we're here"
Looking ahead, Red noticed that the village chief's house wasn't much different from the other villagers' rooms.
The only difference is that it's a bit bigger, and there are some terracotta tiles on the walls that are about to fall to the ground.
The village chief's gate was open, and Reed followed the farmers into the village chief's house.
The farmer knocked on the wooden door. "Village Chief! Village Chief! We have guests!"
After the farmer shouted, the first person to appear was a woman, holding a spatula in her hand.
After glancing at him, the woman shouted, "Old man! Come out here!"
After the woman finished speaking, she smiled and told the two of them to sit down first, then went back into the kitchen.
The farmer and Red sat on wooden chairs, and Red decided to see what the inside of the house looked like.
Reed looked around and noticed that the furniture was all retro, but there was one piece with a completely different style.
Why is there a desk lamp on this table?!
Aren't desk lamps supposed to be powered? Is there electricity in this place? Or are there even electrical wires in this world?
Reed was drawn to the desk lamp because it had no wires or anything like that, and it wasn't decorated much.
The sound of the wooden door inside being pushed open with a "rip".
Red was drawn to the view and looked ahead, where he saw an elderly man with graying hair, leaning on a cane and carrying a wooden chair, sitting down in front of the two of them.
The village chief put down his walking stick; his face was somewhat wrinkled and aged.
After the farmer explained his origins and Reid's identity to the village chief, he hurriedly left.
The village chief nodded and said in a hoarse voice, "If you wish to stay the night, sir, you may stay in my thatched hut."
The village chief's voice trembled as he spoke, as if he feared the other party might displease him and kill him at any moment.
Reed casually replied, "Okay."
The village chief seemed relieved after hearing this, and said with his hands clasped, "I'll go and prepare a bed for the adults right away."
Reed looked at the old man in front of him, who was even using his cane to make his bed, and felt a little embarrassed.
"Forget it, I'm worried you might strain your back while walking."
The village chief nodded without saying much, and continued, "Thank you, sir. My daughter will help you sort it out."
Reid was somewhat exasperated, wondering if the old man had misunderstood him.
I was worried that the other person might hurt their back, not that I disliked them because they were an elderly person!
But since the other party has come to this understanding, I cannot deny it.
Reed nodded
Next, the village chief asked Red if he wanted to eat, and Red nodded without hesitation.
After all, the original plan was to celebrate with a meal after finishing all the work, but now that I've been transported here, I haven't had a proper meal since I started working.
"Dad! I'm home!"
Reed turned his head to look at the gate, where a lively girl with a single ponytail and a bamboo basket on her back stood.
The girl saw the resentment that Reed had accumulated from his work as soon as she entered the room, and she shuddered under his gaze.
What has this person been through? Why does he seem to have a sense of disappointment and frustration with everything?
The girl paused for a moment, then smiled and said, "Dad, is this a guest?"
The lively girl put down the bamboo basket she was carrying in the corner and then slowly walked over.
When the village chief saw his daughter return, he leaned on his cane, took her outside, and said something to her.
Red saw through the corner the girl's expression shift from confusion to shock.
The village chief and the girl then went back inside the house. After that, the girl went into a room without saying a word.
The village chief flattered Reed a few times, then went to the kitchen.
Afterwards, the village chief and his family of three ate in the kitchen, while he deliberately left a few dishes on the table in the living room.
There's not much else to say after that; everyone ate their own meals.
By the time we finished eating, it was already late, and the sun had completely set.
In this kind of village, some elderly people go to bed at nine o'clock, while the village chief's wife knits a sweater beside them.
Reed saw the passing village chief and waved.
The village chief saw this and came over to ask what was wrong.
"Village chief, I have some questions I'd like to ask, but I need to go somewhere private."
The village chief understood and nodded, then led Reed to his room.
Reed began, "You're the village chief here. Are there any other villages nearby?"
Yes, there are other villages around, adults.
"Where is the nearest town?"
"Sir, do you want to go to the town? The nearest town is to the north, and some of us in the group are going up north to sell things tomorrow morning."
The village chief was somewhat skeptical about whether Rhett was truly a nobleman. The peasants said that Rhett and his playmate had gotten lost and ended up in the village.
But judging from Rhett's appearance, aside from his aristocratic attire, his behavior is quite different from that of an aristocrat.
And the questions asked had nothing to do with this nobleman.
But the village chief dared not gamble; it was better to avoid trouble.
You can simply respond to whatever the other person says.
Red was right; cities in this world are replaced by towns.
Reed continued, "What are those small, green creatures in the forest? They have two long ears and a long nose."
The village chief's previously calm face suddenly furrowed, and his tone became somewhat urgent.
"Is it in the forest? The Greenwood Forest, right?"
Looking at the village chief before him, Reed suddenly became somewhat anxious, as if he were taking this matter very seriously.
Reed nodded. "That's right, inside the Greenwood Forest."
The village chief, somewhat confused but also anxious, said, "Sir, the small green creature you encountered in the Greenwood Forest was a goblin."
"Brother, Brin?"
The village chief looked at the other person's clueless expression, his face full of question marks.
A noble's son doesn't know about goblins? Does he just stay in his villa all day and never listen to anything?
Goblins are something I've encountered and heard of, right?
But the village chief quickly put that matter aside; the most important thing was that goblins had appeared in the Greenwood Forest.
Originally, the Greenwood Forest only had some rather ferocious wild boars; there were no goblins there.
But if this nobleman says he's encountered goblins, then this is a serious matter.
I've heard of other villages that were wiped out by goblins, to varying degrees.
All the men were killed, and the women disappeared without a trace. Some villagers who witnessed the incident said they hadn't been able to sleep for seven days.
The goblins may have discovered their village, but are currently gathering their forces in the Greenwood Forest.
When the time is right, these goblins will definitely attack their own village!
Reed looked at the village chief's increasingly dark and wrinkled face.
"what happened?"
The village chief then came to his senses and told Red about the goblins' behavior and wickedness.
Red went from being lazy to being serious, and he also got a general idea of what was going on.
These creatures called goblins are a bit like back alley cleaners, only they sound even more grotesque.
The cleaners are at least better at killing people outside than those inside the houses, as they would kill people outside at night or in the early morning.
This goblin is a pure evil, seemingly without any rules, killing anyone it sees.
Hearing the old village chief recount the experiences of other villages, it seems these goblins also practice rape and murder, and slave breeding.
Moreover, the old village chief said that these creatures are intelligent, can build catapults, can be tamed, and possess magic.
However, such goblins are rare; most goblins just mindlessly charge forward with knives.
Reid was shocked when he heard the word "spellcaster"—goblins could actually use magic?
So that means there's magic in this world? Goblins can use magic, so humans can use magic too!
Furthermore, during his explanation, the village chief mentioned that goblins not only attack humans but also elves or...
Elf? When Reed heard the word "elf," he thought of a certain freak in the company.
But shaking his head, he knew the elf the village chief was referring to was definitely not the elf feast at the company.
After talking for an hour, Red had a general understanding of this world.
This world also has other races, such as elves.
And this world has magic, such as launching fireballs.
In this world, there's a collective term for a profession called adventurer. An adventurer can be any class, such as warrior, archer, or priest.
Having learned about goblins, Reed's fondness for them plummeted to rock bottom.
And I learned that this world is magical, with mages and magic, and probably even fantastical things like demons.
After compiling all of this, Reed's assessment of it was...
Too tight!
Reid already knew where he was going next: to become an adventurer.
I was decked out in a full set of twilight EGO gear, with a Heart of Desire in my pocket, and my entire body was overflowing with accessories.
It would be a shame not to be an adventurer! Besides, this world has magic!
You could even try learning some magic! Learning magic to show off a little would be pretty cool!
Reed suddenly felt free!
