Becoming a God in Another World 1
Chapter 8 Canglan Continent (2) Slaughtering the Beast Tide
Late at night, Lin Yi invited Zhao Peng into a private room on the second floor of Langya Restaurant in Canglan City. After entering the room, Lin Yi warmly greeted Zhao Peng and poured him a full glass of wine.
"I've invited you here today because I have important matters to discuss," Lin Yi said with a serious expression.
Zhao Peng was puzzled, but he nodded anyway, waiting for Lin Yi to continue.
"I've received information that the bandits outside the city may be making moves soon, and their target is our Canglan City," Lin Yi said in a low voice.
Zhao Peng's face paled in shock. "What are we going to do? The city walls are sturdy, and the soldiers patrol day and night. How can we not stop them?"
Lin Yi shook his head slightly. "This time, the bandits are coming with great force, and it is said that they are also being helped by a mysterious expert. We must make preparations in advance, just in case."
Zhao Peng pondered for a moment, then asked, "What are your plans?"
A resolute glint flashed in Lin Yi's eyes. "I plan to organize a suicide squad to infiltrate the bandit camp and find out their specific plans."
Zhao Peng's heart tightened. "This plan is extremely dangerous; I'm afraid we might not be able to return."
Lin Yi patted him on the shoulder, "Fortune favors the bold. If you succeed, you can ensure the safety of Canglan City."
Zhao Peng gritted his teeth and said, "Fine, I'm willing to go with you."
The two raised their glasses and drank them down in one gulp, determined to fight to defend Canglan City.
Lin Yi sighed and said, "This time, fighting the orcs for this territory is all for survival! But is this war what our Canglan City wants?" Zhao Peng replied, "At this point, the war is beyond our control! It's either you or the orcs who die. No matter who wins, it's a defeat!" Lin Yi shook his head, pretending to have a bad feeling, and said, "But if we don't take the initiative and just wait to die, the consequences will be even more unimaginable." Lin Yi gripped his wine glass tightly, his eyes resolute.
"When do we set off?" Zhao Peng asked.
“Tomorrow night will be the best time,” Lin Yi replied. “We can infiltrate their camp while the orcs are off guard.”
Zhao Peng nodded. "Okay, I'll go back and gather some trustworthy brothers."
Lin Yi watched Zhao Peng's departing figure, silently praying for the success of this operation. He knew that this not only concerned their personal lives but also the safety of all the people of Canglan City. No matter what, he had to protect this city.
The next morning, after having breakfast, Lin Yi left his residence and headed towards the City Lord's military training ground. When he arrived, everyone had already assembled. He glanced at each person, his eyes filled with determination.
"Brothers, this mission is fraught with peril, but for the sake of Canglan City, we have no other choice," Lin Yi declared loudly. "Tonight, we will infiltrate the enemy camp to gather intelligence. If we return victorious, all will be well; if we perish, we will die with honor!"
The crowd shouted in unison, "We are willing to stand with the general through thick and thin!" Their voices resounded through the sky.
As night fell, Lin Yi led his suicide squad stealthily towards the orc camp. They carefully evaded the guards and finally infiltrated the camp.
Lin Yi summoned the garrison captains and addressed them, "Our main purpose in coming here is to investigate the orcs' troop deployment and fortifications. Everyone, split up and proceed with caution. If anything happens, immediately send a signal." The captains acknowledged the order and departed.
Lin Yi led a squad of soldiers toward the center of the camp. Along the way, they encountered several patrols of orcs, but they skillfully evaded them all. Just as they were nearing their destination, they suddenly heard the sounds of fighting ahead. Lin Yi's heart tightened, and he quickly led his men to investigate. They saw a small orc squad attacking a friendly soldier, who was already wounded in several places and in critical condition. Without hesitation, Lin Yi drew his sword and charged forward, engaging the orcs in fierce combat.
Zhao Peng and Lin Yi were agile and swift with their swordsmanship, quickly dispatching the orcs besieging their allies. He helped a wounded soldier to his feet and asked with concern, "Are you alright?" The soldier shook his head, giving Lin Yi a grateful look. Just then, a low horn sounded in the distance, and the orc troops began to assemble. Lin Yi sensed danger and immediately ordered his troops to retreat. However, they had already been discovered by the orcs, who surged out from all sides, surrounding them completely. A fierce battle was about to erupt…
During the battle with the orcs, Lin Yi was caught off guard and struck by an orc leader, sustaining serious injuries. Despite the pain, he wielded his longsword and continued fighting.
The morale of the team members was greatly affected when they saw their leader was wounded. However, they did not back down; instead, they fought the orcs even more bravely.
In the midst of the fierce battle, Lin Yi discovered a weakness in the orcs. He rushed towards that weakness without hesitation, using his last ounce of strength to deliver a fatal blow to the orc.
With the orc leader falling, the other orcs fell into chaos. Lin Yi's group seized the opportunity to break out and successfully escape the orc camp.
Then Zhao Peng looked at Lin Yi and asked, "Lin Yi, is your injury serious?" Zhao Peng looked at Lin Yi with concern.
Lin Yi waved his hand, "It's alright, let's leave here first."
They found a safe place to rest. Lin Yi's wound was still bleeding, but he gritted his teeth and persevered. After a simple bandage, he leaned against a tree and fell into a deep sleep.
Zhao Peng decided to find some herbs to treat Lin Yi. He quietly left the camp and searched in the nearby mountains and forests.
As the saying goes, perseverance pays off, and Zhao Peng finally found some medicinal herbs to heal wounds. He rushed back to the camp and carefully treated Lin Yi's wounds.
When Lin Yi woke up, he felt much better. He looked at Zhao Peng gratefully, "Thank you, brother."
"It's all part of our job, Captain. What do we do next?" Zhao Peng asked.
Lin Yi pondered for a moment, "Let's go back to camp first and report the intelligence. The orcs definitely won't let this go easily, so we need to be prepared."
After thinking for a moment, Zhao Peng said to the combat captains, "Bring me the battle map." He unfolded the map, pointed to the markings on it, and said, "Look, this is our current location. We're still some distance from the camp. The orcs might ambush us along the way, so we need to be careful."
The combat team leaders nodded in agreement.
Lin Yi pondered for a moment and said, "Advance in small teams, and remain vigilant. If you spot any enemy activity, immediately send a signal."
The group accepted the order and began to work in groups.
Lin Yi led a group of people ahead, constantly keeping an eye on their surroundings. Suddenly, he noticed a suspicious cloud of dust rising ahead.
"Something's up! Prepare for battle!" Lin Yi shouted.
The team members quickly took up positions, preparing to deal with any possible attack.
As Lin Yi and Zhao Peng fought and retreated, they saw that the enemy's numbers were overwhelming, and they gradually began to feel the strain. Just then, an arrow struck Lin Yi's arm, and he nearly dropped his sword. "Damn it!" Lin Yi cursed under his breath, but his movements remained unaffected.
Seeing this, Zhao Peng rushed forward and blocked several waves of attacks for Lin Yi. "Captain, you go first, I'll cover the rear!" Zhao Peng shouted.
Lin Yi gritted his teeth, knowing this wasn't the time to be sentimental. He nodded and led the other team members to continue their retreat.
Zhao Peng was surrounded, but he showed no fear. He brandished his longsword and fought bravely. However, two fists cannot fight four hands, and Zhao Peng eventually fell.
"Peng!" Lin Yi roared in grief and anger. He turned and charged towards the enemy, his eyes filled with killing intent. His teammates responded in unison, engaging the enemy in a life-or-death struggle...
Lin Yi said, "The invading orcs are too strong this time, so we have to break out separately?" Zhao Peng led a group of men to break out to one side, attracting the attention of some of the orcs. Lin Yi then led the rest of the group to rush in another direction.
The orcs pursued relentlessly, and a fierce battle ensued. Lin Yi was agile and wielded a sharp sword, constantly repelling the approaching orcs.
At a critical moment, Lin Yi discovered a narrow valley and decided to use the terrain to his advantage to shake off his pursuers.
He led the team into the valley, and then had the team members light torches and throw them towards the valley entrance.
The fire spread rapidly, forming a wall of fire that halted the orcs' attack. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Lin Yi and the others successfully broke through and sped towards the camp.
After breaking through the orcs' encirclement, Lin Yi breathed a sigh of relief and said: "This battle must have been betrayed by one of our traitors, who revealed the battle plan and deployment to the enemy orcs, who knew about our numbers, personnel, and logistics!"
Lin Yi glanced at the soldiers standing on the parade ground, his eyes suddenly sharpening. He decided to find the traitor and avenge his fallen comrades. He secretly investigated, gathering clues and leaving no stone unturned.
By chance, Lin Yi spotted a suspicious figure. After some tracking and observation, he finally confirmed the identity of the mole.
Just as Lin Yi was about to expose the traitor, an unexpected event occurred. The traitor noticed Lin Yi's actions and attempted to strike first. Lin Yi was in danger, but with his extraordinary wisdom and courage, he successfully turned the situation around and subdued the traitor.
With the traitor apprehended, the truth came to light. Lin Yi earned the praise and trust of the people, and he led his team to protect their homeland with even greater determination.
Afterwards, Lin Yi returned to the garrison's parade ground to issue the final mobilization order, methodically issuing pre-battle operational plans to strive for a decisive victory in this war! Standing on the high platform, Lin Yi's gaze swept over the soldiers below, his voice rousing: "Brothers, this time we must avenge our defeat! We must let the enemy know that our homeland is inviolable!"
The soldiers were filled with righteous indignation, chanting slogans: "Avenge our humiliation! Defend our homeland!"
Lin Yi waved his hand and pointed forward: "Let's go!"
The army marched out of its encampment and headed towards the battlefield.
Lin Yi was filled with confidence; he believed that their chances of winning were even greater after the traitor was eliminated.
The war horn sounded, and Lin Yi led his soldiers into battle.
They will surely win this battle!
Accompanying him were Zhao Peng, Shi Yilong, Li Ziqi, and other accompanying captains. Upon reaching the front lines of the battle, they surveyed the scene, brandished their swords, and pointed forward: "Charge! Slaughter them all, leave no one alive! Avenge the fallen soldiers and civilians!" The two armies clashed in close combat, the battle cries deafening. Lin Yi led the charge, bravely fighting the enemy. His swordsmanship was as swift and fierce as a storm, and wherever he went, enemies fell to the ground.
However, the orc army was also exceptionally powerful. They used their strong bodies and sharp weapons to put considerable pressure on Lin Yi's troops.
In the midst of fierce fighting, Lin Yi spotted the enemy leader and charged into the enemy ranks without hesitation, engaging in a life-or-death struggle with him.
However, Lin Yi and Zhao Peng, along with others, stopped the orc leader from engaging in a pre-battle confrontation. Lin Yi and the orc leader were locked in a fierce battle, neither gaining the upper hand. Just then, Zhao Peng seized the opportunity and thrust his sword at the orc leader's vital point. The orc leader, in pain, became sluggish. Seeing this, Lin Yi immediately unleashed his ultimate move, forcing the orc leader into a desperate situation.
In the end, the orc chieftain fell to Lin Yi's sword. The orcs' morale plummeted, and they began a steady retreat. Lin Yi pressed his advantage, leading his troops in a final assault.
Thanks to the combined efforts of all the soldiers, the human race won the battle. People cheered and celebrated their hard-won victory. Lin Yi looked at the devastated battlefield, his heart filled with mixed emotions.
