The Eldest Daughter Returns with Power
Chapter 88 The Third Prince Visits the General's Mansion
With the Lantern Festival over, the time for Su Ning'er to enter the Third Prince's residence was drawing ever closer. On this day, the Third Prince came to the General's residence to discuss matters with the General.
Su Ning'er sat in Yuening Pavilion, holding an ancient book in her hand, reading it with great interest.
"Miss, Miss, good news, good news!" Xiangling excitedly ran into Yuening Pavilion from outside.
Su Ning'er was interrupted from reading, and looked up at Xiang Ling with some displeasure.
"Xiangling, why are you so excited? Can't you see I'm reading a book?" Su Ning'er asked unhappily.
Seeing that Su Ning'er was unhappy, Xiangling quickly explained, "Miss, please don't be angry. Xiangling must have good news to tell you."
Xiangsha quickly chimed in, "Yes, Miss, Xiangling is so happy, she must have some good news to tell you!"
Su Ning'er raised an eyebrow slightly and softened her tone: "Then tell me, and if you can't give a coherent explanation, you'll regret it."
Xiangling took a few breaths and said with a smile, "Miss, just now in the front hall, I overheard the Third Prince telling the General that once you enter the manor, he will treat you with the respect due to a principal wife and will not mistreat you in the slightest."
Upon hearing this, Su Ning'er was secretly delighted, but she feigned composure and said indifferently, "Hmph, at least he's thoughtful."
Although she said this, Su Ning'er was secretly overjoyed. Even as a concubine, the Third Prince truly cared for her, which was undoubtedly the greatest honor for a woman. And now, that honor was about to belong to her. Thinking of this, Su Ning'er's lips unconsciously curved into a happy smile.
Xiangsha also smiled and said, "Miss, isn't this a wonderful thing? The Third Prince values you so much, your days in the manor will surely be glorious."
Su Ning'er pursed her lips, a hint of anticipation flashing in her eyes: "I hope so." She thought to herself that if she could really become the Third Prince's consort in the future, her status would soar to new heights.
"Xiangling, where is the Third Prince right now?" Su Ning'er suddenly asked.
"Miss, when I returned, the Third Prince and the General had gone to the study," Xiangling replied respectfully.
Su Ning'er stood up and paced around the room, her mind wandering. After a moment of thought, she said to Xiang Sha beside her, "Xiang Sha, go and prepare some snacks. I'll send them to my uncle and the Third Prince later."
"Yes, Miss." Xiangsha replied and turned to go to the small kitchen.
Before long, Xiangsha had prepared the snacks. Su Ning'er took the food box, and with the snacks in hand, headed towards the study.
When she arrived at the study door, Su Ning'er stopped, straightened her clothes and hair, and after confirming that everything was in order, she gently knocked on the door.
"Come in!" Su Tianhao's voice came from inside the door.
Su Ning'er pushed open the door and stepped inside. She saw Su Tianhao and the Third Prince sitting at their desk, conversing. Upon seeing Su Ning'er enter, they both stopped and turned to look at her.
"Greetings, Uncle and His Highness the Third Prince," Su Ning'er said, bowing.
"Ning'er, what brings you here?" Su Tianhao asked.
Su Ning'er smiled slightly, handed over the food box in her hand, and said softly, "I heard that Uncle and the Third Prince are discussing important matters here, so Ning'er specially prepared some snacks to send over."
"Come in." The general's steady and powerful voice came from inside. Su Ning'er gently pushed open the door, her face bearing a perfectly timed smile, as warm as a spring breeze. "Uncle, Third Prince, Ning'er has brought you some snacks."
When the Third Prince heard Su Ning'er's voice, he looked up and saw her beautiful face. A look of amazement flashed in his eyes, and he smiled slightly as he said softly, "Miss Su is so thoughtful."
Su Ning'er placed the exquisite pastry box on the table, then gracefully opened the lid, releasing a sweet aroma. She smiled and said, "It is Ning'er's honor to be able to do something for my uncle and the Third Prince."
The general looked at Su Ning'er, nodded in satisfaction, and laughed heartily. "Ning'er, you may go now. I have important matters to discuss with the Third Prince. After we finish talking, I will send someone to take the Third Prince to your Yuening Garden."
Su Ning'er nodded obediently, "Yes, Uncle." After saying that, she turned and left the study, closing the door behind her. Once outside the study, Su Ning'er felt exceptionally happy, her heart filled with joy.
She returned to Yuening Garden, sat before her dressing table, and carefully examined herself in the mirror. Recalling the admiring look in the Third Prince's eyes when he looked at her earlier, she couldn't help but smile slightly. Then, thinking of what her mother had told her, she felt even more hopeful for the future.
After a while, a maid's voice came from outside: "Miss, the Third Prince has arrived." Su Ning'er quickly got up and went out to greet him.
"Greetings, Third Prince." Su Ning'er gave a slight curtsy.
"Miss Su, there's no need for such formalities," the Third Prince said with a smile.
The two entered the house and sat facing each other. For a moment, the atmosphere became subtly awkward.
Su Ning'er broke the silence first: "I wonder what the Third Prince and my eldest uncle were discussing?"
The Third Prince took a sip of tea and said slowly, "It's just some court affairs, Miss Su, you don't need to worry about it."
Su Ning'er nodded gently and said, "After I enter the manor, I hope the Third Prince will give me a lot of guidance."
The Third Prince looked at her tenderly: "Of course, Miss Su, please don't worry."
Su Ning'er was secretly delighted, but she maintained her composure and said with a smile, "Then thank you very much, Third Prince."
Looking at her beautiful face, the Third Prince's eyes flashed with a deep affection that was hard to detect. He said softly, "Ning'er, now that you've entered the manor, I will treat you well."
A blush rose to Su Ning'er's face, and she lowered her head without saying a word.
The two sat quietly, enjoying this moment of peace and warmth. It wasn't until nightfall that the Third Prince took his leave. Su Ning'er stood at the door, watching his departing figure, her heart filled with anticipation and happiness.
